How Did Adam Sandler Get Into New York University If He Was A Bad Student

How do I get rid of my native accent and get an American accent?

Naturally, it's possible for anybody to pick up any accent. Now, what you need to do is try to sound like an American naturally, but not to copy them. How do you do this? Our team, as an English teachers, have noticed that the reason we sound differently is the articulators are used differently. For example, when you say the letter "t" as in a word "shut", your tongue should touch the backside of your gum ridge (tooth ridge), but not the backside of your upper teeth. That's how Americans use their articulators ( tongue, lips, uvula, etc.) , in other words their tongues touch the backside of their upper gum-ridges. Interestingly, russians and turkish people's tongues touch the backside of their upper teeth, not the gum ridge, when they say that "t". Thus they sound  different. D, N, T, L, these letters are pronounced in the same way as described above. So, whenever you say any of these letters, do not forget to control your tongue to touch the backside of your gum ridge. W vs V. In many languages, these letters pronounced differently, and most of the languages do not have any letter that would sound like the English "w". So, if your language is also one of them, then what you need to do is just to say the letter "v" by keeping your lips circular. Voila, now you're sounding like an American, at least when you say the letter "w". And the letter "v" itself is pronounced differently in Russian and English. Russians often times say it like "ff" and they don't even notice it, while Americans almost always say it as "v" but not "ff". U vs У ( Russian "u"). When you say "put", "good" or "would", what sound do you make with "u", "oo" and "ou"? And most importantly, how do you use your articulators (tongue, lips, etc.)? We don't really pay attention to how we use them. If you say "u" in Russian, your lips are circular, in english they are horizontal. By simply knowing this, you could start sounding like an American right away.I could go on with every letter, but the idea I want to pass on is... I guess you got it, right? If not, what you need to do is just keep asking Americans this question: 'Where does your tongue touch when you say "here goes the letter" ?' And just pay great attention to their lips and what form do they take when they say certain letters. So, pick your American Accent by learning every letter.

Has Donald Trump's presidency so far been a disaster? Why or why not?

To call his presidency a disaster would be to suggest it could’ve been anything else, it’s just a Trump presidency, the disaster is him being elected, like if there were an Adam Sandler presidency. But for the sake of argument let’s say it was ‘a disaster’, here’s why:First off, he’s a billionaire, having this guy deciding the laws which affect and restrict his businesses is not a good idea.If I were a billionaire and I became the president, I would scrap regulations that hindered my businesses’ ability to profit, starting with those darn EPA bastards! I know! I’d make someone who doesn’t believe in man-made climate change, and has sued the EPA 14 times, the administrator for the EPA![1]Next up, he possesses not a single quality of a leader, not inspirational, not polite, heck, he straight-up refused to shake Angela Merkel’s hand[2], that’s not a political statement, it’s petulance, and it reflects back on everyone who voted for him.(I didn’t make this, but it’s how most of the world sees America with Trump as president.)His Twitter account, dear God, as if America weren’t already a laughing stock, it’s just pathetic, unbecoming of a president, and hilariously idiotic. His decision to ban transgenders from serving in the military was a blatant attempt to please far-right voters, as was the Obamacare repeal (EDIT: As was the ‘more extreme extreme vetting’ pledge following the attack in New York). He contradicts himself non-stop:Getting more into policies…his first budget proposal was nothing short of terrifying:I’m not going to explain how absurd some of these budgets are, but just keep in mind that America already spends more on defence than the next 8 countries combined.[3]Most of whom are allies.I need to go out now but I’ll add more points when I get back, in the meantime have a look at Syd Bartlett's answer to Why do you despise President-elect Donald Trump?Footnotes[1] EPA Chief Pruitt Refuses to Link CO2 and Global Warming[2] Donald Trump refuses to shake Angela Merkel's hand[3] Obama: US spends more on military than next 8 nations combined

What are the 5 best movies you have ever seen?

I like watching classic world cinema. However, they are pretty much about serious topics like Holocaust, War, Gender equality or full on drama so I am not sure if  I can see them all over again and again. Its usually comedy stuff that I can watch again and again. So here is the top 5 in no specific order.Shawshank Redemption. To hear Morgan Freeman deliver those cult dialogues in that godly voice."Andy Dufresne, who crawled through a river of shit and came out clean on the other side. Andy Dufresne, headed for the Pacific. Those of us who knew him best talk about him often. I swear, the stuff he pulled... Sometimes it makes me sad, though, Andy being gone. I have to remind myself that some birds aren't meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright and when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up does rejoice, but still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty now that they're gone. I guess I just miss my friend."Grave of the FirefliesA 1988 Japanese animated film written and directed by Isao Takahata and animated by Studio Ghibli based  the true story of a young boy and his kid sister after the world war II. Considered it to be one of the best and most powerful war films it also depicts how much animation is capable of moving an audience. 50 First datesA 2004 American romantic comedy film starring Adam Sandler as a woman-chasing veterinarian and Drew Barrymore as an amnesiac. This one is my favorite purely because of Adam Sandler. It makes me laugh every time I watch it. I guess I have already watched it 50 times! :PUPI don't think I need to write why? Pixar created a better love story in 8 minutes than the any film maker could in 2 hours. The film is funny throughout with cult characters. Roman Holiday A 1953 romantic comedy directed and produced by William Wyler. It stars Gregory Peck as a reporter and Audrey Hepburn as a royal princess out to see Rome on her own. As you will watch the movie you will realize that every romance and comedy that we see in cinema today has been derived from this film. A very enjoyable flick to watch with family as well as on a date! :)

PLEASE HELP ME!!!! 10 pts for best answer?

I currently live in Indiana but I'm thinking about applying to college out of state. Right now i'm thinking California or New York. My problem is when I ask my friends, family and even people on here they tell me to stay in Indiana. So I'm going to ask again: Should I stay in Indiana or move.

Here's some things about me:
I am on my sophomore year.
I haven't had the best grades, but I'm finally on the right track since I have quit my job.
I am quiet, and have gone through a depression.
I just hate Indiana in general. There's nothing to do and where i live drugs and drinking are very popular and since I don't do this, I don't have many friends.
I'm majoring in English, but the school i'm in doesn't have the programs and minors that I want.
If I move, I will not know one single person there, so I'm a little afraid I won't make friends.
I plan on finding an apartment so I can bring my dog with me and my furniture and so my mom can come visit!
I plan on visiting the state a few months prior to moving to find a job (hopefully!).
I want to live in a big city, but I'm sort of afraid of muggings and all that, so I would prefer something that doesn't have to much violence (I probably wont be walking at night, I dont know when the violence usually happens)
All my friends and family around me is constantly bringing me down telling me that I will be like everyone else and work in a fast food place. They tell me that if I move I will regret it for the rest of my life. I have wanted to move out of this town since I could remember.
I know it might be expensive but I think I can make it. Here's what I've planned to do: I get a student loan in January to buy everything I need for school, which is around 2-3,000 dollars, I plan on buying my textbooks then putting the rest back. When I file taxes, whatever I get back (usually around $100) I will put this back too and my mom has offered to give me some money from her taxes (probably a couple hundred dollars) since she gets more money from the government since I'm in college. I plan on having a yard sale when I'm about to leave and put that money back. I plan on applying for every student loan I can get, grants, scholarships, and anything else. I also plan on finding a job until I move.

So what do you think? Should I move now? or wait? I just want this so much and always have, but do you think i'm making a mistake like what everyone says?
