How did Blackbeard steal Whitebeard's devil's fruit power in One Piece?
Yes, BB did steal WB's devil fruit powers. We don't really know how he stole WB powers. Marco said, "BB does not have a normal kind of body." I also believe it has something to do with his devil fruit powers. I couldn't see BB waiting who knows how many years, 20+ years, to get his hands on the Yami Yami no Mi, kill someone who used to be your freind, and make the storngest pirate in the world your enimy, unless you knew you would be able to steal other people's devil fruit power. Clearly, he couldn't steal other people's powers untill he got his Yami Yami no Mi. We also saw that his powers have a strang effect on other devil fruit users. Luffy body became ordinary, ace couldn't use his fire..ect ect. Luffy cannot do it. Again it has something to do with the Yami Yami no Mi powers that BB has. Probabley it is, but Marco did hint that there is something more to it. Heavy spoilers :After the cowardly murder of Whitebeard, Blackbeard enshrouds him in darkness and hijacks the Gura Gura No Mi from Whitebeard's body. Blackbeard is the only person to have successfully consumed two devil fruits and lived. So as you can see, Blackbeard possesses both his Yami Yami No Mi and Whitebeard's Gura Gura No Mi.

Blackbeard's devil fruit power darkness is one that has the power to suck in everything. Darkness absorbs everything which is what Blackbeard said in his fight against Ace. His power meant he could absorb the devil fruit's entity from inside a person. Based off what I have read in the manga and using the knowledge of that there can only one power can only be used by one person I have a theory. I think it depends on whether the original devil fruit owner is alive or not. For example in the fight against Ace, Blackbeard was absorbing the entity of Ace's devil fruit by touching him, however since Ace was still alive the entity always returned to him whenever Blackbeard lost physical contact with Ace. Why Blackbeard was able to absorb Whitebeard's power, however I think the fact that Whitebeard was dead is what made it possible to permanently extract the devil fruit power from the body. After all it couldn't return to Whitebeard's body because he was dead. I'd imagine there would only be a certain time period of when Blackbeard can steal someone's power after they died as the devil fruit's spirit, entity or whatever would have left the body and manifested itself as the fruit form again somewhere else in the world.
How many devil fruit powers can Blackbeard absorb? What would his third most powerful devil fruit power be?
He already has paramecia type with the Gura Gura No Mi (Whitebeard's). He possesses the logia-type with the Yami Yami No Mi. His best third option would be a Zoan type as his physical abilities like speed, agility or the like would make him stronger in close combat. More specifically, the best would be a Mythical Zoan like Marco's phoenix but less likely to acquire one of the legendary devil fruit power.
Why is Whitebeard called that?
I suppose you can call it a translation goof. In Japanese, his name is Shirohige, which is translated to Whitebeard. Shiro does mean white, but hige is just a generic term for facial hair, not specifically a beard or a mustache. And he does sport a fine white mustache, so the name (at least in Japanese) fits.
Can Kaido defeat old Whitebeard in a one versus one duel? How about young Whitebeard in his prime?
Whitebeard was called “The Strongest Man In The World” (lol, until he wasn’t). The guy was known to be able to shatter the whole planet. And even though he was seriously ill, he was still considered to be the most dangerous pirate. Fighting with two holes in the torso, one made from volcano, a part of his face melted by magma. He got shot twice with Kizaru’s laser beams. He sustained over 450 injuries during that war, and even at the brink of death, he easily overpowered Kurohige and Akainu, both of whom were powerless against his fury. I mean, can you imagine ? Destroying Akainu and cutting the Marine HQ in half with a single punch ! Kurohige really thought he was gonna die. He felt great relief when SHirohige died. And all of that happened with him being old sick AF !Now, Kaido is something else entirely ! The guy jumped from the sky, which I can only assume to be thousands of Km from the ground, and gets back up like he just tripped. Not even a scratch ! All we know about him is that he’s seriously bad news ! I guess it’s only natural. The way he defeated Luffy (who defeated 3 shishibukai, meaning he’s at least strong enough to be one) is just as insane as Shirohige destroying Akainu in two punches only. Still, would he be able to sustain a shockwave strong enough to destroy the planet ? One thing is for sure, Shirohige would have to pack some serious punches if he hopes to even make Kaido feel a tingle.In the long run, I think Kaido would win. He would withstand Shirohige’s attack and would attack too. Now, even though he has a freakish stamina, he’s old and ill. He will break first.

1. Marco's DF - Mythical Zoan type he can transform into a phoenix with blue fames and regenerate I think the mythical zoan fruits are really cool. Goro Goro nomi electricity it has many options and extremely powerful. Gura Gura nomi cmon it's whitebeard's fruit which creates shakes. 2. Mero Mero nomi turns into stone (I tend to disregard the conditions) Hana Hana no mi just watch how robin made herself wings with it it's a very useful paramecia. Fuwa Fuwa no mi sure the user is powerful but still it's an awesome fruit 3. idk about the kid but I think a fruit like Dragon presumably has like controlling the weather would be great! or a logia fruit which makes you water but perhaps it's over the top. 4. kilo kilo no mi it's awkward and very limited. bomu bomu no mi it's boring and you don't want to pick your nose evey time u use it right... subi subi no mi - no, just no. 5. Akainu fruit. with power to manipulate and generate magma it is easily one of the most destructive fruits making the user completely inaccessible. 6. Pika Pika no Mi the speed of light nough said. 7. it's gotta be a paremecia i say luffy's fruit. 8. i'd say Nikyu Nikyu no Mi especially with kuma's defence but it'd be great with every person.
How does Marshall D. Teach have two devil fruits?
Marhall D. Teach's powers are extraordinary in the sense that he is the first ever OP character to have two DFs and still not die. The reason that he has Yami Yami No Mi (as displayed in Banaro Island) and could "steal" Gura Gura No Mi from Whitebeard is hypothesized on him having two bodies. Yup, two bodies. Even Luffy and Zoro know that Teach should not be referred to as "he" but "they" as described from their incident in Mock Town.Shanks also seems to know his true power. Watch the video from 14:10 onwards and you will find that Teach is not one guy but more than one guy!Well, that is until another theory emerged which iterates that he actually has three bodies. We all know how Oda is inspired from mythologies and history. If we go with this, then we come across Cerberus, the three-headed dog guarding the entrance to Hades. Maybe Teach is a Cerberus.
