How do you change cover photo at yahoo groups?

I own groups and I agree that the new Groups format sucks. You can complain to Yahoo by clicking on 'Feedback' which is in the menu of the new format for each group. Look toward the bottom of the menu list.

Here's how I changed my cover picture after 'neo' started.

First, you have to choose a photo that you want for the cover in your group & that will fit the dimensions of the space. I own 3 groups and I looked for cover photos in Google Images by typing "banner" and another word that fit what each group is about into the Google search slot. For instance, for one group I typed "banner + fresh vegetables." I then clicked on "Images" in Google, found a photo I liked that approximately fit the dimensions of the cover space and downloaded it onto my desktop.

Then, I went back to my group and ran my arrow over the photo in the cover. The words, Change Cover, appeared. I clicked on that and my list of photos from my desktop was shown. I chose the one I wanted and clicked 'save' after it appeared as my group cover photo.

How do I change the cover photo on yahoo groups?

I found using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox will allow you to change the cover photo, and I can't do it with Internet Explorer 8.

I also discovered using a regular photo will be stretched out to cover the whole banner section. To keep the photo looking normal the photo must fit an area of 820x250 to 850x314, and that will leave you with black areas on both the left and the right sides of your photo. Also most likely your photo will be cropped at the top to fit in the area.

How to change and size a group cover photo?

You want the appropriate range of aspect ratio -- the 'right' range is somewhere around 1020 x 270 pixels, but Yahoo will automagically resize things with more or fewer pixels if the proportions are right.

The 'scroll up and down' is a feature, not a bug; it lets you roll an image to fit the visible 'viewport' of the picture if the aspect ratio is 'taller' than the visible frame.

All that I've seen indicates that any good photo editor can be used to crop an image to the right proportions. You then save that cropped image as a new file (I use 'duplicate' on a Mac to do this) and upload using the "procedure" (hover over image until box opens, then follow prompts).

What are the dimensions of the Yahoo Groups banner?

The cover image is at maximum 1020 by 250 pixels, and that's the best resolution to upload.

If the person looking at the Groups page has a narrower browser window the cover image will shrink to a minimum of 790 by 200 pixels, but that happens automatically and isn't a reason to choose this as one's upload size.

I'm not sure how the cover image is displayed on mobile devices.

How can I change my Y!group cover photo?

I found a convoluted way that sort-of works for me. Find the original JPEG file that I once used for my group. Make a copy of it, and on the copy, use Microsoft's "Paint" program to change the dimensions to "12 inches by 4 inches." Hover the mouse over the new cover that Yahoo foisted on you, and insert this new JPEG file. Once you get it to those dimensions, it should "take." Sometimes my new cover picture looks like a little tiny version of my old cover picture, in the "northwest corner" of a big grey screen where Yahoo used to foist a big picture on me. Other times, my picture actually takes up the whole spot that Yahoo gave me. Whatever! At least it's the picture I wanted, not one Yahoo wanted.

How do I join a Yahoo Group without using a Yahoo account?

Send an email to {groupname}-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.You can see other common email addresses for a group at the bottom of a group's homepage (for example, for this group named "cats"): http://groups.yahoo.com/group/catsPost message: cats@yahoogroups.comSubscribe: cats-subscribe@yahoogroups.comUnsubscribe: cats-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.comList owner: cats-owner@yahoogroups.com

I can't change the cover photo on the group I just created. I've tried different browsers and different pix.?

I've tried different browsers and different pictures to no avail. Someone posted awhile back about this and it was a yahoo error so I'm just curious if anyone else is experiencing this.

I hover over the photo, click "change photo" at which point the pictures on my computer come up in a new window. I select one, but then either nothing happens, or I get an "upload error" message.
