How Do I Create A Topographical Map Craft At Home

Woodland areas in Ohio without trails or campsites.?

Me and some buddies want to go off into the woods and fish, hunt, build a shelter, etc etc. We live in Ohio and cant find any good spots to do so, any suggestions?

How far off shore do you have to go to catch red snapper ?

First of all you can not catch snapper off of the shoreline of Galveston or anywhere else in that area off of the beach. 35 yrs of fishing that part of the Gulf Coast, I know you have to go offshore to catch red snapper. During the winter months red snapper move in closer and can be caught in depths from 75-200ft deep. The rigs you see from shore are about 10 to 15 miles out. You can catch some snappers there if they have not been already fished. During the Summer the snapper move on out to deeper waters. Get you a bottom contour map of your area and fish the hidden reef areas off from Galveston for some bigger snapper. I use to fish the Flower Garden area for big snapper just North of Galveston years ago. Your 20ft boat can get tossed around pretty bad this time of year unless it's an exceptional day. You will have no problems in the Summer, unless a squall blows in on ya. I use to run a 40ft Chris Craft out of Freeport just South of ya and this time of year can get choppy and rough. To much of a beating can take the fun right out of it. San-Luis Pass or the inlets feeding Galveston Bay to the Intercoastal water way should be running with rat and bull reds right now. Should be no problems at all doing that with your boat right now, just scoot on across Galveston Bay. 40yr exp

What are some good craft activities for a 5 year old boy and his dad?

Build with popsicle sticks. They are easy to stick together. They can even be built into cubes and stacked. You can create forms and design buildings and forts. You can design imaginary machines or cities. You can add vehicles, people and your imagination to create something together that is a product of your child's imagination. Let your child take the lead.Make a personalized quilt. Tie dye two flat sheets of the same size, and then go to a fabric store and get cotton batting the same size as the sheet. Sandwich the batting between two sheets and teach yourselves to sew the sheets into a quilt if you don't already know how. Alternatively go to a tshirt printing company and get family photos printed onto squares of white cotton muslin. Go to a fabric store and pick a fabric to border (frame) all the photos, with the same fabric or other fabric for the back facing... sew it all together and voila! a family quilt.Make a keychain by using tied knots. Get cotton string from a hardware store and learn to tie knots. See Brett Williams's projects for inspiration by looking at his Board, here: Knot Projects.Map your home/back yard/local park. Measure and make the map as proportional and accurate as your child's abilities and inclination allow. Let your child's interests guide you. You can make a topographical map using flour and water, and a board.Make a scrapbook to archive photographs and works of art, mementos of your child's babyhood and childhood. Let your child design pages for insertion.Get a huge blank canvas, brushes of various thicknesses, and acryllic (nontoxic) water-based paint from an art store. Let your child select the colors, and fill up the canvas with color and form. Be sure the artist places a signature and date on the bottom of each completed work of art!

What is a contour map? How is it helpful?

A contour map has lines that show elevation. Any point on any line is at the same elevation. Let's say you have a map that includes a coastline and the lines are at 200 foot intervals. There would be lines at 200, 400, 600, 800, etc feet. You can see hills (the lines form circles), whether a slope is gradual or steep (where it's steep the lines are close together), and other features. Once you're used to one, it almost makes the map look 3-D.

What was the cause of the battle of shiloh?

The Confederate theater commander, Albert Sidney Johnston, believed that he had to strike the growing Union concentration at Pittsburg Landing under Grant and Sherman, otherwise the entire region would fall to the Union. He managed a surprise attack against Grant near Shiloh church. During a two-day back and forth battle, Confederate gains were lost, and Grant remained in control. Johnston was killed in the battle.
