Are job board search engines a profitable industry?

If you mean like Monster, Indeed, Careerbuilder, yes they can be. While not all of them are profitable every year, you can still build a profitable sustainable business with Job Boards, and its a great industry. If you look at what has happened over the last couple of years, recruiting has become even more competitive. At the same time, a greater focus has been put on recruiting. HR organizations are now given more money to go our and recruit for the positions they are looking to fill. In some cases, companies are making hiring & culture a core part of their business. Also, if you've watched primetime TV recently you'll notice that there are ads for GE that are advertising working at GE. I went on a bit of a tangent there, but all of this is to say, that there is more focus on recruiting these days, and that means people are willing to spend more on job boards, which bodes well for their profitability.

What are the best websites to search for jobs in India?

I have near about 7 years of experience in IT. I worked at the same job for the first 6 years and switched 2 jobs in the last 6 months. So, I feel I can give you some insight into the whole job search thing.I got a lot of calls, almost everyday. I have profiles on almost all the job portals. But majority of the interview calls came from naukri and majority of the mails came from naukri and shine. But I got a lot of calls from LinkedIn too. Even now, when I have hidden my profile in all other sites, I am still getting mails from HR of different companies on LinkedIn.So I would suggest that create profiles on all the known job websites. You never know where the interview call might come from. Create a LinkedIn profile and also install LinkedIn job search. You will have to separately install it from play store.Make sure that your resume is very well written. It matters a lot. Don't add everything you know. Instead add everything you know well. Your LinkedIn profile should also reflect your skill set. Mention your primary and secondary skill set. Also, create a Glassdoor profile. Whenever you are going for an interview , research the company thoroughly on Glass door. You can see lots of interview questions, salary offered at your position, ratings from actual employees etc. on Glassdoor.Hope this helps!

Are resume writing services worth the money? Anyone try theladders.com service?

I'm in a situation that is prompting me to look for another job (before I get laid off). I'm wondering if getting my resume re-worked by a service would be worth the money. I had theladders.com review my resume and they ripped it to shreads. Of course, for a modest fee of $645, the will make it all better. Anyone has experience with this? Please help!
