How Do I Fix My Grandmothers Desk Top

How can I fix my relationship with my grandmother before it is too late?

My grandmother has raised me since I was two years old and now at 16 I've never felt as far apart from her as I do. She has never let me be a kid and a teenager and has always held on too tight. And if I'm not doing stuff even just one day of the week she is telling me I am anti-social. She is trying to tell me what college I am going to and if I stay on campus, in the end I'm going to do what I want if she likes it or not with my education.

She also belittles me about my weight, which she is part of the reason I am overweight since she has so much stress on me it is not possible for me to lose weight. She doesn't get I'm not my aunt or my mother. She doesn't seem to get it when to let up. Nothing is good enough. And I can't take it anymore. Either I'm going to end up hating her or I'm going to lose my mind by the time I'm 18.

I will take an advice right now.

Grandmother's dog peed in my space heater; fixes?

My grandmother has six mini schnauzers that aren't housebroken that she 'just loves' but every time they come in, they head straight for my room. Her male dog urinated into the front of my space heater, so every time I turn it on, it gives off the most disgusting smell imaginable. Should I try spraying vinegar and water in the front of it to try to wash it out? Any ideas or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!

My mother hates my grandmother?

you can't fix it...she needs to be mature about the situation and speak to your father in private.

How do I get my grandmothers house condemned anonymously?

My family has tried to help my grandmother fix her house but it is beyond repair. Her house is coming up out of the ground, you can see the foundation outside. Most of the rooms don't have electricity, so she has lamps. She refuses to move in with other family members or get another place because she's been living in her house for 40 years and spent a lot of money on it and doesn't want to leave it. She is 80 years old and refuses to get help. Her walls in the house are splitting, she now has water leaking all over the house and won't call a plumber or electrician because they cost too much and she doesn't want to get her house condemned.

She's a hoarder and has junk all over the house piled up in most rooms. She has roaches REALLY BAD and she has rats. She has holes in the ceiling and she throws food all over the kitchen. She can't cook because the gas isn't on. she refuses to throw away junk and trash.

There's no gas, no bad plumbing and the kitchen and bathroom are beyond repair. Also there's mold growing out of the vents and she has rats living in the attic. The electricity works but the electrical wiring isn't proper and she's has to run like 5 heaters & fans, a computer and 3 TV's off of extension cords because most of the plugs don't work, not to mention lamps.

Famiy has welcomed her to stay with them if she please, it's not healthy for her to stay in that house. The restroom is gross and she has to heat up water to wash off.

My grandmother is 92 years old. She's healthy and active for her age but her skin, and in particular her legs, are very sensitive. They scrape and bleed with even gentle contact with the edge of a couch. Is there anything I can recommend to help toughen up her skin?

GeriLeg® The Original Leg Protector Made in USAThis product is quite affordable at $17.00 per pair, and works well. We called them geri-socks and the arm ones geri-sleeves.At a certain point most elderly persons skin becomes quite fragile, and there is very little that can be done about it. Applying lotion at least once a day helps a lot. Lubriderm was always my favorite because it's light and absorbs quickly, while being very mild and unlikely to irritate fragile skin. There isn't much else to prevent these types of skin tears. When they occur its important to keep them clean, and if there is a flap not to remove it and to seek medical attention to ensure that it doesn't become infected as they heal. Be wary of using tape or bandages that are too sticky, as removing them can actually cause more damage. If small enough they should be left open to air once the bleeding has stopped, or covered with a simple gauze dressing.

What is the best way to explain to my grandmother why a Windows computer is more susceptible to viruses than an Apple computer?

I have worked professionally on a project that required a great deal of reversing on windows computers and it is astonishing how windows provides public interfaces for 3rd party software to inject threads into running software to control running processes and all kinds of other potentially mischievous activities. There are legitimate reasons to offer these interfaces such as facilitating the writing of debuggers and (ironically) anti virus software. MacOS on the other hand is based on Unix which provides no equivalent interfaces. The notion that windows machines are bigger targets has to be qualified by the fact that although windows dominates desktop machines, it does not dominate far more tempting targets such as servers. Server break ins are, however, rare and far more likely to take advantage of bad security practices such as weak passwords or vulnerabilities in 3rd party software (such as sql injection) rather than the os itself. Windows really is more vulnerable. So why doesn't Microsoft fix these problems? Here is what I would tell my grandmother: a lot of people are shocked to discover that even though a bank teller has accepted a check it could still be returned as bad because in their eyes the transaction is over and a bank should not be able to unilaterally undo the deal. The law allows this in the interest of commerce:if every transaction had to sit around until every t crossed and i dotted, commerce would grind to a halt. Its better to let all transactions through and then clean up the few that go bad. Windows follows the same strategy: a lot of software can take advantage of being able to pop windows up, move them around, change background colors and all kinds of other operations even if a tiny minority of malicious software can use these techniques to trick a user to think they are logging into their online banking system when in fact their info is being collected for malicious purposes. Windows has more value to its end users if it has value to 3rd party vendors which provide software that users want to run.Note this dynamic is radically changing for windows 8. Software that runs on the metro interface can only be distributed through the windows store so Microsoft can control what software can be run on windows by means other than traditional 'software security' techniques. So Microsoft can provide a sensitive interface and allow a trusted vendor to access it while blocking others.

Why does my grandmother think they should fix a giraffe so it can’t mate instead of killing it when you can't find it a home?

Just last year, the zoo in Copenhagen did exactly that, to a healthy young adult (4-year-old) male giraffe, because breeding him with a female wouldn’t sufficiently diversify the gene pool (which maybe it wouldn’t have—as if mating were the only possible option).Instead, they killed the healthy animal, then chopped his body to pieces, and cut it up and fed the pieces to their lions. All of this in front of an audience of Danes—grownups and very young children, not one of whom did or said anything at all but watch the killing and butchery of an animal they’d admired, alive, just minutes earlier. There’s something hideously sick about this—especially the audience’s passive observation of the gruesome, bloody spectacle.I’m not “sentimental” about animals and not an “animal rights” militant. But this is something that can’t be justified: That giraffe wasn’t born, unplanned, in the Copenhagen Zoo; he was accepted by them. And his killing wasn’t the first time—and no doubt won’t be the last time—that the Copenhagen Zoo has done something like this. They’d done it before, and will again. If a zoo cannot properly care for an animal that’s been either captured in the wild or born in captivity elsewhere and offered to them by another zoo, the zoo should, and must, decline the offer. If an old animal, or one suffering from an incurable disease, is in their collection and a qualified veterinarian, after examination, concludes that peaceful, painless euthanasia is the only practical solution, so be it.Not kill and butcher a healthy animal, especially in front of an audience of oohing-and-aahing adults and toddlers, as the Copenhagen Zoo likes to do.I can’t help wondering what’s wrong with those “wonderful,” peaceable Danes (and I’m part-Danish through my grandfather, BTW)—especially the parents who brought their young children to watch that bloody spectacle, and feel not the slightest twinge of horror or remorse about it.

How do I convince my parents that my grandmother isn’t a witch?

I remember my former job as a Telecom Technician: onset of the call, the old woman shouted at me: “Fix my internet, you BIIIIIITCH!”What’s more terrifying was the way she said that, it sounded “WIIIIITCH!” I was terrified, the old woman was speaking like a sorceress, ready to cast a spell on me.I’m sure you’re grandma is not practicing Voodoo or Black magic but you can try connecting your parents to her by prepping activities that would bring her closer to them or vice versa. Acknowledging your grandma’s weaknesses at this point in time is one way to understand her that she’s undergoing the ageing process…*Caring for your loved one is what true magic is all about.
