The Clear circle with nothing inside it which you get as soon as you send a message means that the message is sending, but hasn’t been received by the recipient.When a tick appears inside a clear circle, that means that the message is inside the recipient’s inbox, but no notification has been received as they either don’t have their phone (assuming they have the messenger app) connected to the internet at that point or they aren’t on the website.A blue circle with a tick inside it means that a notification has been received, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that they know about the message, as they might have not looked at their phone or something like that. It could also mean that they’re on facebook but deliberately not opening the message to avoid the “seen” stage.If someone opens the message, the message changes to seen, and on Messenger, a small circle with their profile picture inside it appears under the message.
