How Do I Know The Amount Of Calories I Am Burning

How many calories do you burn lying down?

Like 2? Honestly, you won't burn enough to lose weight.
Unless you starve yourself also.
Why not just get a healthy meal plan & exercise?

How do I know if I'm burning enough calories?

The first thing you have to find out is your Basal Metabolic Rate. This is the number of calories your body burns just going through a normal day. Use this website to find it: http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calcu...

Once you have your BMR, you'll know how many calories you can eat and how many you need to burn to safely lose 1-2lbs per week. This is a good, safe, rate to lose weigh and permanently keep it off.

There are 3500 calories in a pound, so if your BMR is 2000 and you eat 1500, that is a deficit of 500 per day times 7 days a week equaling 3500 calories or one pound lost. If you burn extra calories at the gym, that just adds to your deficit and you will lose a bit more.

You don't want to eat too low below your BMR because then your body will go into starvation mode and your metabolism will slow down, making it difficult to lose any weight at all.

You should increase your weightlifting to every time you do cardio. Weights will increase your muscle mass and muscle burns more calories than fat. Note that you may not see the numbers go down on the scale if you lift weight because you will be gaining muscle. Take your measurements or take pictures of yourself to see some changes because the scale will not always move, no matter how hard you work. Good luck!

Am I eating the right amount of calories and burning the right amount to see a difference?

I'm 22, 5'9 1/2 and 165 lbs. Sounds like a lot but my body places it's fat pretty evenly, however I'm not happy with it. I'd like to get back down to 145 PRONTO! I use to be an Irish Dancer so banked on that as my cardio and when I retired my body kind of went into shock. I know I have to change my eating habits which was easy, I consume between 1800-2000 calories a day. 3 meals and 3 snacks. I go to the gym about 3-4 times a week and do cardio for AT LEAST 30 minutes on eliptocle doing HILLS style and then do some toning. I try and cut down beer to the weekends or couple times a week and drink at least 4 bottles of water a day (general size bottles) am I on the right track? Am I going to see results at all? Am I doing this right?

Good amount of calories to burn per workout?

I'm 16 years old 5'4" and I weigh about 222lbs. I'm tired of being overweight and feeling this disgusted with myself and I want to change and lose weight.

I have no idea how many calories I currently eat, but I plan to eat around 1,200-1,400 a day once I begin my healthy eating. I've got MyFitnessPal on standby reddy to log my food intakes and everything.

However I don't know how many calories I should focus on burning while working out. I want to lose around 1-2lbs every week or two. If not more. I'd really like to be down about 70ishlbs by August so.

If I eat 1,400, and my body burns 1,000 a day just by living, should I be burning at least 800 calories a workout? If I plan to work out 4-5 times a week? Or 1,000? And what is considered to be "too much" calories burned?

Thanks for the advice in advance!

Is burning 200 calories a day in a treadmill enough?

Enough for what? The amount of calories you burn is irrelevant. You telling me you burn 200 calories on a treadmill doesn't mean anything. You could burn 1000 calories on the treadmill a day and still not mean anything. What you need to find out is how many calories are you consuming in relation to how much you are burning. If you are eating a lot, especially a lot of carbs 200 calories is nothing. I know people that eat 7000 calories a day. If you only burn 200 on a treadmill this is nothing. Each gram of carb is 4 calories, the average person eats 300 grams a day. That means that 1200 calories are from carbs alone. Your body uses carbs as energy during the day, if you don't use all of the carbs you eat that day it turns into fat. Do you see now why the amount of calories you burn doesn't matter if you don't know how much you are consuming in the first place?First figure out what you are consuming so you can find out how much you will need to burn so you can reach your goal. Doing cardio alone without any idea of where you are standing is like trying to catch a fly in the dark. You just don't know where to start, never the less where you are going to end up.

How many calories am i burning when i do push-ups,sit-ups and crunches?

it depends on how much you weigh. i know that if you google "calories burned," you can find a website where you can input your weight and it will tell you how many calories you burn for each activity based on how long you do it. but i can't imagine it's all that many. try an elliptical, or a weight machine. even doing crunches on that slanted bench in the weight room is SO much better than regular. if you're concerned about your core, try bicep curls while standing on one of those half-balls.

p.s., bicycle crunches are 50% more effective than regular.

How many calories am I burning if I am talking/standing for 8 hours?

honestly, dont worry about this exact calculation man, its barely relevant to your goal. You don't need to eat 3500 calories a day to build muscle, and if you did, the couple hundred calories you'd burn while making subs is nothing compared to how much cardiovascular effort you'd need to put into burning the rest.

My "yahoo answer": forget about how much you'll be burning in your shift, instead push yourself in the gym to the fullest every time, im sure you already know thats how muscles grow. Drop the 3500 calorie thing to 3000 or 2750 calories; pancakes and eggs @ breakfast, and a sh*tload of grilled steak, chicken, and fish for lunch and dinner.

weight loss, weight gain, and muscle gain are all a marathon and you can never take a single moment too seriously or else you'll drive yourself insane.

and btw don't make it seem like you're getting irritated w/ us; you didnt even give us the critical info to calculate the calories.
