How Do I Make Ice Cream With My Ninja Blender

Is vitamix better than ninja blender?

I have a Blendtec and I love it! I make smoothies pretty much daily and it does a great job with frozen fruit, greens and ice :)

Is the vitamix blender the best blender around?

Blendtec is often compared to vitamix. It's less famous, but on par. And apparently doesn't require the tamper that a vitamix does.

I used to have a vitamix, and it was worth the extra money. It can make dosa batters like no one's business. It used to take an hour to mix a batter that took only 10 minutes in the vitamix (you're blending soaked riced into a pancake batter like consistency), and did a better job.

But it also randomly disassembled on us, and disassemblying the pitcher voids the warranty. We found that shifty, since we didn't do it, but it just did it by itself. So we returned it to costco and got our money back. Now next time we're getting either a blendtec or a ninja.

What is the function of a blender? How is it used?

Hello!Blenders break down food into different consistencies, such as liquids, purees, food processing/chopping, and grinding. Some powerful blenders are even capable of heating the contents through the friction of the blade, such as a hot soup - all within the blender jar and in only a few minutes.I love testing and reviewing power blenders such as vitamix, blendtec, nutribullet and ninja. You can see my #1 Blendtec vs Vitamix review here: Blendtec vs Vitamix Blender ReviewI also compare the Nutri Ninja vs NutriBullet Rx here: Nutri Ninja vs NutriBullet Rx ReviewMy favorite types of blenders are those that are able to make things you wouldn’t think they can do - such as ice cream, nut butters, and bread dough!A powerful blender should be a minimum of 1100 watts. I find that blenders that have less power than this struggle making super smooth green smoothies and whole food juices.Hope that helps!Happy Blending!~Tarashaun

How can I use a blender to make milkshakes?

The oldest recipes at the “Ma and Pa” Shake Shops generally added the liquid milk first, then the flavoring(s), for a uniform background mix, then the ice cream running until the desired smooth or slightly ice cream float bits remained.Once upon a time, the Early Dairy Queen Milkshake cups had several lines on them: The bottom line (fill to here with milk)the next line (fill next with syrup flavor)and filled the rest of the with soft serve ice cream (which is why it almost never had ice grains, NO hard frozen ice cream) .The contents were blended in a cup with an overflow collar, the collar removed and the cup served to the customer. This was LONG BEFORE the upside down presentation used today.Today (don’t forget to put the lid on the blender before mixing)8 oz milk (I prefer homogenized over reduced fat/lowfat)2 oz Nestles Quick powder or Hershies chocolate syrup (blend to mix)(OPTIONAL) 2 oz malted milk powder turns the milkshake into a maltFill to the 32 oz line with ice cream. (vanilla is traditional…)Blend til desired consistency is reached.EXPERIMENT: ADD INSTANT COFFEE & sweetener… try it with powdered cinnemon. Create Pumpkin Spice Latee Milkshakes. (Don’t stop at strawberry!)If using malted milk powder, it is remembered that even DQ never managed to get it ALL to blend smoothly… It would need to be made into a syrup first, but for some reason, no one ever did this.If you get Ice grains in the final product, Your Ice Cream if too cold, Let it sit out for 5 or 10 minutes before using, or reduce the cold setting in the freezer a bit closer towards freezing rather than cryogenic.“Thick milkshakes” really deserve wider straws.

Where do you buy your favorite ice cream from ice cream trucks?

I want to buy the ice creams that the ice cream truck has, but the ice cream truck is barely around. I want to have those great tasting ice cream right in my home. But how? and where can I buy them?

Can i make peanut butter using an immersion/stick blender?

None of these items you mention are ideal for a stick blender. The only perfect use for an immersion blender is pureeing a hot food such as a soup...it is safer because it saves you transferring to a blender, and the steam can escape the open pot rather than blowing the lid off a pitcher blender. Another distinct advantage of a stick blender is that you can move the blade to keep the food from getting stuck.

A quick tutorial:

For sauces and drinks with more liquid than food, use a pitcher blender. (incl your ketchup and smoothies) Many pitcher blenders now come with a plunger on them that you can stir the food around through the hole in the lid. It is customized for that blender so you can do anything you want and the plunger will never touch the blade. This helps you stir the food so the contents don't get stuck. Great for ice drinks.

For chunkier food or thicker food with less liquid use a food processor (incl your hummus and peanut butter and banana ice cream). This also does your chopping and shredding tasks, a lot of basic prep esp if you use the attachments.

For cookie dough, bread dough, mashed potatoes, cake batter, use a mixer.

For delicate folding and mixing, do the work by hand.

EDIT: I'm glad you are reconsidering. For what it is worth, sometimes you can find a blender base with both a pitcher and a food processor attachment. They have their own blades so they do work for different kinds of foods but then you can save a little money and save some space on the counter. Of course then you have to find storage for your various attachments. I have an Oster that I really love, I bought it at a Target store for about 40 bucks but I bet you can find at Walmart or any number of places. Here is what you are looking for. This food proc doesn't have the feed tube or hopper attachment to slice or shred once from above and collect in the container.

What makes the Vitamix blender so good compared to other blenders?

The Vitamix is, I believe, the earliest example of a super-powerful blender. There are other brands now, including Blendtech. I had my first Vitamix for 15 years. A small part wore out. It was cheap to fix, but a friend wanted it, so I gave it to him and bought a new one. That one has lasted ten years. That's ten years of making smoothies with frozen bananas. That would kill a typical blender in about 6 months. We have the special second container for grinding grains - there's nothing like pancakes made from fresh-ground flour. We make wheat, rice, millet and other grain flours. We toss in frozen fruit without a thought. Tonight, I tossed in peeled garlic cloves, chunks of peeled ginger, Szechuan pepper, a bit of maple syrup, and soy sauce - instant teriyaki sauce flavored just the way I like it.The power of the motor has interesting effects. Frozen fruit and cold milk (cow milk, soy milk, coconut milk, it doesn't matter) makes ice cream. Hot water and vegetables and the blades heat up the mix and the soup cooks in the blender. The blade design and high-speed motor extract nutrients in a way compatible with a juicer. The texture of the juice is different, because a Vitamix does not extract the pulp, but it does make vegetable and fruit juices straight from vegetables and fruits. The extra power gives you not just a fast, long-lasting blender but a tool that can do all these other things I've mentioned as well. And I may sound geeky, but it's kind of cool to have a blender built from an airplane motor (not big enough to fly an airplane, but powerful enough to, say, steer an airplane) in my kitchen.

What is the best blender for Herbalife shakes and why? How do you make Herbalife shakes?

I make my shakes in a big countertop blender, because it allows me most flexibility. I can mix and blend all type of liquids and solids like vegetables, fruits, ice cubes or whatever my fertile imagination decides to put into it.If you are mixing the F1 with liquids, any system will do, from a glass with a spoon, a glass jar with a lid, a plastic shaker (Herbalife has a great variety of them, my favorite is the one with the steel wire ball inside) to the blender already mentioned.Of course, if you want to use fruit or other solids, then the blender is the way to go. If you are deciding for a blender just for your shakes, the bullet blenders work great and they are quite practical. A countertop blender like the Blendtec is of course the most versatile if you want to try a variety of shakes and also use it for other purposes in your kitchen. If you go for that, check that it has ice cubes crushing capability.
