How do i delete contacts from messenger contact list?
i have deleted the said contacts from my yahoo address book and when try to delete from messenger contact list it says they cannot be deleted as they do noy appear in address book.
How come contacts I have deleted off of my messenger list reappear after I sign off and back on?
This happens to me as well. When they come back on your list after you have deleted them, delete them again and check the box to remove them from your address book as well and check to box to report as spam. They shouldn't reappear on your list again after that.

Can deleted contacts on yahoo messenger reappear on your list when logging in on another computer?
Hi, my boyfriend told me he only has very few people on his contacts list but when he signed on to it the other day there were over 200 on there. He was half surprised and half not so surprised. He said the same thing happens when he goes on his dads computer. Well, now when he last logged on to my computer there are only 11 contacts...so did he delete these people recently or did yahoo have glitch? Has anyone ever had this happen before? I really need to know if he is lying to me or not. This relationship affects both my children and myself, so I really need to know if he is lying or if it is AT ALL possible he is telling the truth about this? Thank you very much to those who answer!
How do I permanently delete a contact from my Yahoo Messenger?
You need to put a contact on your Ignore List first, otherwise he can still see you when you are online and send you a message, because your ID is still on his Messenger list. Here's what to do: right click on their icon -> scroll down to stealth settings -> change them to appear permanently offline. Then click on messenger (top left on the messenger window) -> click preferences -> scroll down to ignore list -> click and in the next window add them to your ignore list -> click o.k. Then go back -> right click their icon and delete. Note: there is a limit of 100 names that you can put on permanent ignore.

your yahoo messenger contacts / friends list is stored online (on yahoo's servers) at: http://messenger.yahoo.com/edit/ so uninstalling / reinstalling Yahoo! Messenger wont impact on this, what will happen tho is that you will / may loose your archives / chat history so if you have that enabled and you wish to retain them you will need to back them up first but uninstalling / reinstalling. your archives are encrypted and stored as .dat files in... C:\ Program Files\ Yahoo!\ Messenger\ Profiles \YourYahooID \ Archive\ Messages (remove the spaces from the path above :) but your best bet is to back up the entire Profiles directory C:\ Program Files\ Yahoo!\ Messenger\ Profiles right click the Profiles folder and select copy left click in your My Documents folders (or where ever suits) and select paste this will give you a full copy of your profiles and your archives or if you are using windows vista C:\Users\WindowsUsername\ AppData\Local\VirtualStore\ Program Files\Yahoo!\ Messenger\Profiles\Yahoo!ID install/upgrade yahoo messenger, log on and immediately check your archives are still set to save your history... Messenger > Preferences select the category Archive (left hand side) make sure Yes, save all my message is selected hit Apply, hit OK if they are all still there, then happy IM'ing :) Perhaps move the copy of your Profiles folder to a secure location and rename it Profiles_April07, this way if you ever need a backup you can easily locate them. I do a backup of mine every month, I just rename as suggested to Profiles_MonthYear if they have been removed then copy and paste the previously copied Profiles folder to the directory location.... C:\ Program Files\ Yahoo!\Messenger\ you will be prompted to overwrite the existing Profiles folder (generated when you logged in and enabled archiving) , just select Yes

Why do my Yahoo Messenger contacts in my iPhone keep reappearing after I delete them?
Using my iPhone, I've deleted them 4 times over the span of 2 weeks. Here is a list of things I tried: 1. I ignore them or report them as spam, but it only gives me an error message. 2. I tried deleting and then reinstalling Yahoo messenger. 3. I've also tried turning off my phone on and then off-again, several times. 4. I deleted them from a computer and also from my email account. They return to my friend contact list regardless of the method I used to delete them. The only thing I haven't tried is using the RESET YAHOO MESSENGER button in my iPhone Yahoo messenger. How do I delete my Messenger account?
