How Do I See The Answers I Have Given Others On Yahoo Answers

Is Quora better than Yahoo Answers?

I have never used Yahoo Answers so feel uniquely qualified to answer this question without bias: Clearly, Yes.  Quora seems to lead to more interesting discussions and better for somewhat abstract or not clearly articulated questionsYahoo seems better for getting specific, practical answers to real life questions. I typically land on Yahoo Answers from a Search Engine, more rarely on Quora.Quora makes for great casual reading - I typically enjoy following the "Related Questions" side bar on the rightOn the other hand, Yahoo has a great navigation bar to drill down by topic. If only the ads were less intrusive...If you're feeling competitive, Yahoo has a great leaderboard. Quora tries to be a little more subtle, but between upvotes, followers, etc there is plenty of fun for the competitive typesYahoo allows for use of aliases if you don't feel like going public.

Who wins, Yahoo! Answers or Quora?

Stackexchange wins hands down. Both quora and yahoo answers are filled with spams and rarely answer meaningful questions. There is a dedicated stackexchange community for almost every topic with great answers. For example you may have someone on Quora who is physics grad writing simple answers on physics topic, but at physics stack exchange those questions would long have been answered before. Plus there are very few to check authenticity of answers on Quora or Yahoo answers.

Do you prefer Quora, Yahoo answers, or Answers.com?

Quora easily crushes both Yahoo! Answers and Answers.com into fine talcum powder with little effort. This site has a strict and fairly swift moderation system, discourages low-effort answers and encourages thoughtful answers.Yahoo! Answers had a decent crowd until about 5 years ago and has since declined. While Yahoo! Answers was great for getting quick and basic questions answered as well as homework help, the site has gone into a massive downspiral. Moderation used to be extremely harsh (to the point of stifling legitimate questions), but now it is essentially an unmoderated anarchy with little to no control for anything. If you go to Yahoo! Answers now you will largely find a bunch of low-quality questions mixed in with crude, racist and even pornographic content (I’m not even making this up). Even benign questions can trigger a deluge of hateful and disgusting content directed towards you. Reporting it will generally do nothing at all, and the new “Anonymous” feature makes it near impossible to block those users. Malicious users often move questions to inappropriate categories, often spreading the hateful content to other sections. At this point the site is like someone made a concoction out of all the NSFW boards on 4chan, with a few (not so much) “safe spaces” like the Mathematics section. EDIT: The situation has improved a bit but it is still very low quality and full of undesirable content. When Answers.com was still WikiAnswers, it was somewhat decent at asking and answering questions. However, their newest format renders the site extremely tedious and difficult to use. There are ads everywhere, and they are extremely intrusive and make the site very slow. The basic outline of Answers.com still works, but the amount of ads and poor design makes it a poor site.

What is the difference between Quora and Yahoo Answers, etc.?

What is the difference between Quora and Yahoo Answers, etc? Most of the answers on Yahoo Answers are written by, well, yahoos. YA! does not concern itself with qualifications or credentials of those who provide answers. In this respect, Quora is vastly superior. A lot of the questions on YA! are posted by school kids wanting quick answers to homework. They usually feel entitled rather than grateful, and tend to be abusive when confronted or frustrated in their effort to get a free pass. Quora mostly discourages these questions, and usually flags them as homework, which I can filter out.The set of topics that are supported on YA! are a fixed heirarchy established by the website administrators many years ago. Each question must reside in a single topic. It is difficult on YA! to find a single, suitable topic for questions that cannot be answered with a Google search, and if you are lucky enough to find one, it is probably dead, with no responders.I won’t discuss the ridiculous point system on YA!, which motivates people to submit answers like “IDK” and “what he said,” in order to garner 2 points toward a “level-up”.When YA! decided that any question on the site would be answered in 1000 characters or fewer, I decided to not waste any more of my time with them. I tried StackOverflow (great for techies,) StackExchange (a haven for intellectual snobs,) and a few others so horrible that my memories are repressed. That’s when I found Quora, the proverbial happy medium. If you need some comic relief, by all means, check out YA!. If you want good information, look to Quora.

Why is Quora more popular than Yahoo Answers? What elements make it the more popular Q&A site?

A couple of years back, early 2015 I guess, I wanted to know about the basics of big data and its importance in industry.I googled “What is Big data”The first link popped up was Wikipedia - I opened in a new tab and set it aside. The second link was from Yahoo answers. I opened and was looking for some useful information. There were answers like:I was confused, irritated and most of the answers didn’t answer the question. The next link which popped was from Quora.I could find answers like this:Answer was by Balaji Viswanathan (பாலாஜி விஸ்வநாதன்) sir. That is the moment I followed him and read his other answers too! And that was the moment i decided not to refer yahoo answers for anything in future.Unlike Yahoo answers, Why was the answer better? It summed up all the information - technical explanation with real life examplesPictures made it easier for me to connect with answerThe credential “Ran a Big data company” made me believe the answer is from someone trustworthy.Upvotes and comments of appreciation from people in related field made me feel secured about the answerComments were healthy and was debating its future application. So, with no further discussions, Quora is always better than Yahoo answers.

Has Quora fully eclipsed Yahoo! Answers?

I doubt it.  Quora isn't for everyone.Yahoo! users are still surprisingly (to me) abundant.  I sort of used to assume that most of their users were holdovers from the early days of the Internet, when Yahoo! was still all the rage-- but they actually have some degree of user base that's varied.  One of my former co-workers who's a developer even used Yahoo! regularly, much to my surprise. So, as long as Yahoo! is an active brand and has a user base, its users will want to use its Answers service.  It's convenient for them.Y!A also supports a variety of languages, whereas Quora's still only in English (though I wouldn't be surprised to see them take on Hindi next!).  So if you're (say) a Spanish speaker, Quora's not for you.Quora also has high standards for quality and ... lack of humor.  Your answers aren't supposed to be memes or jokes, and they're supposed to be filled with informative content (they can be humorous, sure, but... shouldn't be SOLELY humorous).  Other sites, like Y!A, don't have the same strict requirements.  So if you're looking to be entertained with silly or short answers, you might not like Quora as much. Also, some people like "owning" questions.  If you asked a relationship question about YOUR relationship, even though 100 other people have asked the exact same thing with the exact same phrasing, you might still want to claim ownership of the question, rather than read what other people have said to the same question.  That's just psychology for you.  Quora doesn't do that, but Y!A does.Personally, I love Quora much better than Yahoo! Answers.  I'm not going back anytime soon.  But I know there are a lot of people out there who don't share that opinion.

Do you like helping others?

Yes.

Helping others makes me feel like I have a reason to be here. I get a sort of fulfillment out of making other people feel better or helping them out in times of need. Helping others is like helping yourself, it gives you this pride in yourself to know that one person can make a difference, no matter how small it may be. It makes me happy, and I enjoy it and I feel like I have a purpose. And the care you give out can only give you good things in return.
