How Do I Send A Professional Email Inquiring About The Job.

What to write in an email inquiring about a job?!?

I'm a 20 year old unemployed community college student and a few days ago I was at the gym I frequent and the guy who sells memberships and works the front desk (I've become friends with him along with a few other workers) asked me if I had a job and I told him I do not. He suggested I apply to the gym because they are looking for a female to be a front desk receptionist or sales representative so he gave me an application. I've thought about it and I'm very interested in applying. I visited their website to see if they had any info on job descriptions and such and they do not but it does say to contact the gym manager by email if you are interested in obtaining a position there.
I'm very interested but I have no clue what to say in the email.

I've never had a job before and I have never applied for a job so this is all new for me! I need some ideas/advice/tips on what to write in the email to the manager about my interest in the job.

I appreciate the help I can get so please feel free to help me out in any way :)
Thank you!

Job Application Follow Up Email?

This position is a international internship in Japan posted in my university. I submitted my application documents to HR. I received a confirmation email saying that they forwarded the documents to related departments (accounting / finance), and it will take 6 to 8 weeks to process the application.

It is now week 7.

The question (most important) is:

Should I send a follow up letter confirming my status NOW? Or should I wait for their reply until week 8 has passed and fire them an email?

Is there any good examples of job application follow up emails that I can use?

Thank you!

What should I write when emailing references to a potential employer?

I was asked by a potential employer to send my references via email. Do I write a letter? Or do I just shoot a "Here are my references, thank you for the call"? I have never been asked to email references, I've always just attached them to my resume and given them at the interview. I am new to the email reference ettiquete.
