How Do I Solve This Multistep Inequalities 8n-10

How do you solve compound inequalities, 4x < 2x - 10 or -3x <-12?

Actually, I don’t think this is a good example of what you really mean.I suspect you mean something like this one…x + 6 < 4x + 3 < 2x + 11We treat this as two separate cases…x + 6 < 4x + 3 and 4x + 3 < 2x + 11so that: 3 < 3x and 2x < 8finally: 1 < x and x < 4Putting these together we have 1 < x < 4which can be represented nicely on a number line as…----------------------------------------------------------------------------------Your case is this……..4x < 2x – 10 and – 3x < –12so that: 2x < – 10 and 3x > 12finally: x < –5 and x > 4and these are separate regions as below…

How do I solve special cases of compound inequalities?

In today’s society, the word “inequality” has become synonymous with the continued march towards socialism. We are all equal in worth; however, we are not equal in ability. This is reality. We all deserve the equal freedom to try, but we will not have equal results. We are all different. We have varied skill sets which are of differing values to society as a whole. That is why a grill cook does not make as much as a surgeon. It is not that both are not needed. Both jobs should be done to the best of ones ability. Both jobs should be respected. But the skill set needed to accomplish the tasks are very different. The question as presented is aimed at accomplishing the goal of the questioner. It does not actual involve the deeper process of critical thinking. It implies an answer to a question born of preconceive bias. It leads you down the path of assuming the questioner is correct rather than have you truly think out an issue.

PLEASE help! Multi-step inequalities??

1. 10-1/2w>12

2. 7a<12a+10

3. -5/6d+8>13

4. 14.1-2/5h(is equal or greater than)13.9-3/10h

Please help me explain these! I really need you help!

Problem solving:

5. Six more than three-fourths a number is greater than or equal to one more than twice the number. Find the number.

6. Ms. Garcia wants to carpet her bedroom which requieres 24 square yards. Her budget will allow her to spend no more than $600 for the project. If the installation of the carpet will cost $162,what is the most she can pay per square yard for the carpeting?

Which is the solution set of the compound inequality? 4 < a + 2 < 10?

This compund inequality is really two inequalities, so:
a + 2 > 4
and
a + 2 < 10

a + 2 > 4 --> a > 2
a + 2 < 10 --> a < 8

Which means a is in the set of 2 to 8. If the problem was -4 < a +2 < 10, then it would be a ∈ (-6,8)

What can we (as individuals) do to try to fix the inequalities in the world?

Start with biology.  I would like someone to work on these things: 1) I am not seven feet tall so I'll never make it to the NBA.  Kobe Bryant made $23 million last year.  I'm only 5'7.2) I can't throw a football on the run, being chased by some 300 pound linemen, to a moving target 25 yards away with pin point accuracy.  Aaron Rogers made $ 22 million last year.   I'm really having problems throwing that nice, tight spiral.3) Actor Robert Downey is better looking than I am.  Trust me on this one.  He made $ 75 million last year.  4) Clayton Kershaw can throw a baseball over a length of 60' 6" faster than I can legally drive my car and hit the corners of the strike zone.  He made $30 million last year.  My personal best is 54 mph.5) Warren Buffet is smarter than I am and a more savvy investor than I am.  He's worth $ 75 billion.  I'm not worth any where near this (You'll have to trust me on this, too.)6) J.K. Rowling is a better writer than I am.  She earned $14 million last year and is worth $ 1 billion.Because of these inequalities, I have had to toil in a typical job.  In 10  lifetimes, I won't make what some of these people make in a year.  Is this the kind of inequality you want to fix?

What are the similarities and differences in solving equations and inequalities?

For simple equations and inequalities you solve  them the same way EXCEPT, if it is an inequality, and you multiply or divide each side by a NEGATIVE number, FLIP the inequality. Examples:1). -2x = 10Divide each side by -2. x = -5.  2). -2x < 10Divide each side by -2.  Flip the inequality. x > -5 (Do you need to know about compound inequalities? Do you have any problems you're having trouble with?)
