How Do I Stop Thinking Weird Things

How can I stop thinking about weird stuff?

LOL This really made me smile.. I can understand how frustrating it can be because i have this occurance ALL the time infact some of my crazy thoughts are things you mentioned such as space and our excistense ect. Im not a doctor but I dont think I need to be a doctor to tell you my thoughts. For me personally these types of random thoughts happen when im not doing anthing.. or more so anthing of importance. The mind is a wonderful thing however it can drift off into lala land if there's nothing there to keep it focused or stimulated. The more free time I have the more i notice these thoughts. Sometimes they can even become obsessive thoughts. Which can in turn become very annoying..thinking things you would never typically think. I would say it safe to say everyone at one time or another has thought something insane or random. It just human nature. Try not to think about it to much because if you do then you will notice it occurring more and more. Its a natural thing and nothing is wrong with you.. if it becomes a serious problem as far as negative thought then perhaps you should speak with a doctor about it maybe you could get something to try and keep your mind more focused. I wouldn't go that far though it seems perfectly normal :) Best of luck I hope this helps.

How do I stop thinking about something?

That's a great question...often, we're told, the only way to diminish a problem, is to completely stop thinking about it; to have it cumulatively exit our mind, and leave us in peace. However, in most states, we usually find this hard to do.

The best cure? Find something else of desire. You see, the problem, whether you agree or not, is desire. You WANT those thoughts. They will not leave your presence because you enjoy having them associated with your thinking process. The only way to manage the situation properly, is too find something of anointed interest, and take part in that instead. Find something (a hobby, a person, etc.) that responds with joy to your frame of mind.

I will let you know, this is 100% guaranteed to work. DO NOT...DO NOT get discouraged if it does not take affect immediately. The likelihood of that, is quite unlikely. It will take some time...but once you find that, true, legitimate happiness...you'll find peace of mind.

Why do I keep thinking about weird things?

I spend a bit of free time every day thinking about... disturbing things. Things like how it feels to have the veins in my feet cut open, or to "crack" (like your knuckles) my sternum against my ribs. It doesn't actually bother me, I'm just really very curious about those things. However, I am aware that some people find it very creepy. I never consider hurting myself. Even having veins cut, I've never considered inflicting that on myself. I only wonder how these things feel. Should I actively take steps to stop thinking about these things, or is it okay to have morbid curiosities?

How do I stop thinking about disturbing things?

A friend once told me about a meditation course he was on where the instructor told all the students to think about pink elephants for five minutes. Then he told them to stop thinking about pink elephants. For the rest of the day, pink elephants kept popping into my friends mind. The next day, the instructor asked the students to think about yellow daisies. Suddenly the pink elephants went away and didn't return. An analogy to this is separating oil and water. If you have a mixture of oil and water in a glass and want to separate the oil from the water, just place the glass in a bowl and very gently add water until all the oil has spilled out into the bowl.So you need to replace your disturbing thoughts with healthy thoughts, not try to stop thinking the disturbing thoughts. If you are open to it, you could pray for help. This would actually be the most effective thing you could do, but it requires faith. Without faith in God, my previous advise is the best I can offer.

How do you "turn off your mind" and stop thinking?

I do that... I don't think it's a weird question at all, my mind would be buzzing with what I have to do tomorrow before I go to sleep. It's annoying...

Meditation is one form of 'switching off'

Physical activities like exercising can take your minds off things, so make sure, even if you don't have the time, even if it's 15 mins - 30 mins a day, go for a walk, go for a run, i like any ball games... that woud help...

I like drinking Camomile tea as well when I'm feeling restless. I remembered there was one time that i just couldn't fall asleep for 5 consecutive nights!! yeah! I was mentally exhausted, but somehow I just won't sleep... my friend recommended the tea, had it, slept like a baby... camomile has a calming and relaxing effect... i suppose it's better than relying on alcohol.?

How can I stop thinking? I keep thinking always on random things and sometimes I feel like I am talking and narrating to myself whatever is going on in my mind. How can I get rid of this?

Doing something to stop thinking multiplies the thinking. Because you are trying to stop thinking with thinking. It will never work. Obviously you will get tired. To be able to do something, you must learn about it first - know where the switch is, know what increases thinking and what decreases it.I will give two analogies.Consider learning to float in water. You can float effortlessly if you maintain a position but if you start to splash around trying to find a foothold or something to hold on to, then you will drownConsider the case where you have built up a whirlpool in a bucket of bath water by using your hand to rotate the water. Now you want the water to be still. If you use your hand to stop the water, will it work? No. It will create more disturbance. All you can do is to wait till the water settles on its own.The nature of the mind is the same. It settles on its own. But the mistake most of us do is to think of the mind as having two parts - one which is the thinking monkey mind and the other which is you, the part that is “supposed” to have control over the other part. This is a big mistake. And the mind likes to live with this illusion. Because it is slippery this way. It can get away with its actions. The first exercise you must begin to develop is one is observing your self from the corner of the eye in all your actions and thoughts “without doing anything about what you observe” - for many people this is a difficult exercise initially. Therefore to help in this, you can work on your body first. The mind has some control on the body and it is an easy place to start. This is not exactly the right analogy but think of the case if you are moving the bucket of water, will the water be still? No. So first ensure the bucket is still and then allow the water to settle. Similarly make the body still, as still as you can, as alert as you can. and then wait for the magic to happen. Just imagine someone has given the command to you “Statue”.keep doing this practice often whenever thoughts trouble you. You will find improvement soon. The mind is very malleable and ductile and learns if you train it in the right way.

How do I stop unusual/weird imagination and thinking?

Imagination is good. At the least, Let there remain some space deep within our mental faculties to imagine creatively, unusually, weirdly…Where you are your own creative director. As an ex, most movies are predictable, their story line can be guessed, yet there are some movies which are highly unusual, unpredictable, intriguing and successful too… This is courtesy, someone’s unusual/weird imagination… imagination running wild…Ask yourself, What makes you want to stop it?Who says that unusual/weird imagination ought to be stopped?Just be aware that you are gifted with imagination and it is a wonderful tool to possess. Channelize it in an uplifting direction, in a focused direction, in a creative direction, and the force is yours.CheersKarthikworldofwellness.me

Can't STOP thinking how weird life is. Is it an illusion? ?

Let's increase the weirdness and ask yourself this: If you're losing your mind, is that necessarily a bad thing? In fact, the ones that lose their minds are the ones that make a difference in the world. Isn't that the oddest thing? The mentally disturbed, the ones that were considered "crazy", the ones who thought too much, they were the ones that actually got somewhere - because their ideas help propel the human mind into such great capacities.

If we didn't think about these questions, as you are, how could we obtain such knowledge and progress in our advancing world?

I think about this stuff all the time, and it becomes an obsession - this obsession however leads to many theories in my head that could one day translate to real life. I think you're on the right track, buddy, to living life to the fullest - we were born to ponder these questions into eternity, until our death. Our pursuit of happiness is what makes us unique, and how we can view these questions with such wonder...it gives us meaning.

Isn't that weird? We can live life never knowing the answers to these questions and still feel satisfied in the end that we have meaning, significance, that all of this was planned. Is everything an illusion? I guess you can only find out in the end, my friend. So live life to the fullest, challenge assumptions, and question everything. Life's a miracle. :)

I am an introvert and my classmates keep thinking weird things about me. They hated me for years. When I do not want to talk to them, they tell me I should change my attitude. What should I do?

Well, I am an introverts too. I find small talk simply ridiculous. Most of my friends often discuss about something that's not really important (to me, at least). Commenting recent weather, gossiping someone in class, what did you do last weekend, i'm sure you know how unstimulating small talk is.But the problem is, small talk is important as lubricator on social interaction. I always seek deep or meaningful conversation but it's hardly possible to achieve those conversation without small talks. It will be so awkward if an acquaintance suddenly ask about a very personal question or trying to discuss a deep conversation such as philosophy, morality, or those kind of things. And, not everybody seek deep conversation. Often they just seek the stimulation from social interaction. I still remember one of my friend, he is one of the most extrovert that i have ever known. His biggest hobby is talking, even if the topic is not really important, even if he is repeating himself, he just do that. I remember he can talk with his girlfriend for 4 hours non stop. I absolutely can't do that. When he find nobody to talk to, he simply "turn off". Feeling bored, throw himself to sofa, turn on the ac, put on he headset, and sleep. He always do that.Let's back to the main question. I am an introvert but if i choose not to talk, my friend will think me as weird or arrogant or incompetent. That kind of impression is problematic when you need help from others and you will always need help from others. The solution is: You have to accept that small talk is important. Just stay friendly, stay approachable. At first, i had no idea how to small talk and often i just don't know what to say. At first, my small talk skill is terrible and it often feel awkward. But as you get more experience, it will get better (I'm still sccially awkward though).Just google how to small talk, read it, experiment it, and experience failure. If you have no idea what to talk, you will learn some from your extrovert. For me, i love reading books. It's very stimulating, insightful, it's like having a deep conversation and it broaden your talk topics too. What a long answer. Never mind.Even if i suggest you to adapt small talk, it doesn't necessarily mean that you should be an extroverts. Introvertion is not a weakness, it's just different kind of gift. I recommend you to read "Quiet: The power of Introverts in the world that can't stop talk.".
