Is Computer Networking Technician A Good Career?
I believe anything in IT is a good job and you don't have to deal with the 4 year or Master's degree. Almost every business uses computer networks now so there is a demand. I'm an architect and we rely on our computers and plotters to work and communicate properly and have the time in our college education to learn how to fix them. If you are looking for something stress free, this is the job for you although I have no idea about the schooling. Our IT guys sit around playing WoW and groan every time we need them to adjust the plot settings or fix something.

The quickest way would be to take a college course that helps you work towards achieving you A+ Certification but CompTIA.The A+ Certification is the basic exam that gives you the foundation on the hardware side and software side of how computer operate. You will learn the interworkings of a Computer. How to build, how to take apart every interchangeable part possible, as well as all the functions of a computer, from pass Technologies no longer in use to what's the standards for today.That certification and knowledge will give you the skills necessary to be a Computer Technican at a Company that fixes, builds, and upgrades computers. Example: Geek Squad. From there you will most likely Branch out to somewhere else and find your niche. Whether it be Networking, Servers, Data center, Wireless, etc.Networking is all about getting packets or data from one place to the next. Start with a foundational network certification from Cisco such as Cisco ICND1 100–105. It is an entry-level certification that awards you Cisco Certified Entry Network Technician (CCENT).Having that on your resume will definitely give you an advantage when the company is willing to hire candidate with no experience and based on their educational credentials only - college and certifications.There is an additional certification exam called ICND2 200–105. How do I get an entry level job in computer networking?
Sadly it's a real Catch-22 when it comes to getting a job in this industry. Companies won't hire you because you don't have any real world experience and you can't get any real world experience because you can't get hired.Basically it all comes down to who you know. I recommend starting to heavily frequent places like LinkedIn and even here and start to post frequently, get your name out there and most importantly, make sure the information you post is accurate! If you post inaccurate information, your name will be blacklisted by any potential employers. Also, make sure that you have your Facebook settings locked down. Your potential employers are going to Google search you and if you show up with drunken pictures and partying, they will not hire you. So do yourself a favor and lock down your Facebook. That is what I did. I expressed interest and it caught the ear of someone hire up. They considered it a benefit because with very little work and cost on their part, they were able to get extra bandwidth when needed, without having to pay out for a brand new person in the company. The benefit for me is that I am now getting real world experience.Finally, see if you can get an internship or do some volunteer work with any local companies. The school district might be a good place to look. Anything where you can get some real world experience. It might suck not getting paid, but the payoff in the end is going to be good.

What would a typical Computer Networking job be like?
I just finished high school and have taken tons of computer classes including Cisco networking LAN and WAN design, PC repair, Visual basic programming and Web development. I also went to, and am going to go again to a Tech Center for IT. The four classes that teach are Networking( building LANs and WANs with routers and switches etc), Multimedia, PC repair, and Programming(C#). At the end of the school year when i finish they let us take the A+ certification which im sure i know enough as it is to get it. But what would a typical job in the IT area be like if i have my computer networking degree?
