How Do You Get A Rear Side Window Back On Track

What happened to gun racks in the back windows of trucks in the United States?Did something specific happen like a tragedy, or was it just the way the nation progressed?

A combination of political correctness and safety.Gun racks are cool, and I have a few as well. However, they advertise “hey, I’ve got a gun, with only an easily breakable piece of glass as a barrier!”Of course, my gun racks have big ass locks on them. They can be quickly removed and the weapon extracted, provided you have the right code… but my truck is really old and I don’t think they make windows for it anymore. Its not worth it. Some idiot might come along, break my windows and try to take my guns, and leave with the windows still broken. Sure, I am a duct tape wizard but I would prefer not to have to deal with duct taping the back of my truck. And, not all gun racks are created equal with nice, high quality, hardened steel quick combo locks on them. Some are just a jury rigged duct-tape-and-board thingy. Which doesn’t have any locks on it.And, political correctness. If you advertise you’re a “right wing gun nutter” you’ll probably get keyed.I made the mistake of driving my car with an NRA and a “Right to Bear Arms Shall Not Be Infringed” sticker on them to visit a friend in San Francisco, a notoriously anti gun, liberal city. When I got back… some asshole keyed my car! Well, in fairness the key marks were on the bumper stickers and no serious noticeable damage had been done to my car, but someone still went and scratched it up…Now, imagine if I had a few ARs on a rack. They’d probably form a protest line and yell cliched chants at me as I try to get to my car…No, that old truck with the rack I keep on my own property (well, technically, its not mine till my parents die but they hardly care what I do on it anymore, its not like I’m a teen).A while ago we had a problem with some rowdy local teens getting drunk and making noise on our property. And alcohol makes people more aggressive (maybe not, last time I learned about alcohol was 9th grade health class). A neighbor had a problem with some rowdy teens on his property who made violent threats to him when he told them to go.Plus, we have an animal problem. Raccoons, foxes here and there, stray dogs, etc. Not too big of a deal but enough to be somewhat a problem.I keep an AR on that rack and don’t take the truck off my property or out of our small town. Don’t feel like replacing any windows…

How can I raise my car window if it is stuck?

If you can grab the top of the window, you might be able to ease it up while operating the window control. Just don’t get your hands stuck in the window.Otherwise, you’ll have to take the inner panel off of the door. Most cars use plastic pins and a screw or two to hold the door panel on. This is where Google is your friend. Look up how to remove your car’s panel and you may even find a video on how to do it.If the only problem is that the window regulator popped off the window, you might be able to put it right back on. If the regulator is damaged, you may have to tape the window up until you can get it replaced.I have no idea what make of car you have, but here is an example, a Chevy Cruze.Another quick fix:This only works if it is the motor that’s bad, not if the window has come off the track.Good luck, hopefully this turns out to be a simple fix, but if not, at least you know a little more about how it works.

Car window off track?

I see this quite a bit at my shop. One of two things is wrong with your car.

(1) There are 2 tabs that glue to the window from the factory and those tabs are what bolt on to the door. If one of those tabs broke, then you will have to replace the door glass. The glass by itself without tax or labor is $155.73 from Toyota. The Toyota glass is actually cheaper than an aftermarket glass. The cost to have it installed depends on what the shop charges for labor but expect to pay between $200-$275 for the glass and installation

(2) The window regulator is broken. The cost of the window regulator from Toyota is 310.48. You can only purchase the regulator from Toyota. Again the cost to have it installed depends on the shops rates, but expect to pay $400-$500 for the regulator installed

Unless you have experience in doing this, then I would not recommend doing it yourself.

Window on the driver side wont go back up, how do i fix it, its a 94 Toyota Supra?

You Have to take off the door panel, look in side, there should be a rider that the window is on. Try to put the window back on ther. also the motor could be shot. Get a new power window motor.
good Luck

92 chevy s10 driver window fell off the track, do i have to take the door apart and how, is this a common prob?

Yes a common issue with vehicles over 20 years old.
It is the guides that have worn. http://cdn0.autopartsnetwork.com/images/...
You may be able to move the window enough to find the holes to pop the new ones in.

If you need to remove the door panel. Remove the screws in the armrest. Push it forward and pull out. Use a trim removal tool ( http://www.buy.com/th/auto-trim-panel.ht... )to remove the window crank retaining clip and remove the crank. Now using the trim tool pop around the edges of the door panel to pop it free.

Place the crank back on and crank down the window until you see the 2 bolts holding the window to the track. 10mm to remove them, then turn the window sideways and pull out. Now is a great time to do some cleaning. Clean the inside of the door out, get some grease in the mechanical components. Clean and scrape the window, install the new guides. Look for rust in the door and sand and prime as need. Put the window back in the same way you got it out. As you get it in you will rotate it and pop the guides into the window track in the door. Reinstall the plastic mounting plate and mount it back in place with the 10mm bolts. MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS NOT BINDING BEFORE YOU CRANK TO HARD. If it feels hard to crank check every thing, do not force it it will shatter. Then just finish re installing as you had removed. You may need to buy replacement door panel clips http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/1/5/7/8/1...

How can I fix my car's window?? It dropped and won't come back!?

I just purchased a 2004 Jeep Liberty and a couple days ago the rear window on the driver's side dropped and now won't move at all. I can pull the window up from inside the panel and push it to the top, where it holds. But the motor won't generate movement at all. I took the panel off yesterday and looked at the inside and nothing seemed out of place. The window wasn't hanging off and no cables were broken. However, when I pushed against the window and pressed the button to roll it up, it made a light humming noise, then it turned into a grinding noise. Nothing moved, though. I've read some posts that say the generator might be bad, since it is supposed to make a humming noise.. But it hums, then grinds.

How do I know if the window is off track? It is still inside the black track lining thing, and seems fine.. Or perhaps the generator is broken. Hope not!

Thanks for your help.

How do I replace the top sliding rear window in a john deere 310sg backhoe/loader?

Broke window and have replacement. Does the window just need to be flexed in? Doesn't seem like there is any real easy way to get it in. About a half of an inch needs to be flexed to get the window in and I am worried about breaking the new window. Has anybody ever rplaced on of these, and if so, any pointers?

Why there are lines at the rear window of each car? What is that for?

That is the defogger (also called a defroster or demister). The lines are essentially “wires” made out of an electrically conductive material and printed onto the inside of the rear windshield. When you push this button on the dashboardthe lines heat up to evaporate condensation or melt frost or ice from the rear windshield.(Source of image)These heating elements can be easily damaged from scrubbing the inside of the rear windshield, but they can be repaired with a conductive compound that you apply across the break. (This damage can be avoided through my patented strategy of never cleaning the rear windshield.)Some cars have some variation of this on the front window too. For example, here is the Subaru version, which melts ice from the windshield wipers. Obviously this kind of heating element would obstruct the driver’s vision if it heated the whole front windshield, but some cars use very fine wires or a conductive film embedded in the windshield so they can clear the whole thing.Source of image

Can anyone help me replace the drivers side window on a 93 ford f150?

There is no "belt" that I know of.
The glass is pretty straightforward though. Remove the door panel (if you have power windows watch you don't break the switches where the wires plug into them.) Take out the vent window assembly. Easy, remove one bolt you'll find after you removed the door panel. Look on the outside front of the door frame and you'll see two screws, remove them. The frame can now be pushed to the rear. Gently, you'll be pulling the window weatherstrip loose from the upper door frame. Slide the loosened weatherstrip up and out of the vent frame. You can now remove the frame from the door but really you can just wiggle and twist the whole thing sideways and let is sit. Look down at the track and remove any rollers/pieces left in it. Lower the window to almost all the way down. Assuming you bought a usual junkyard door glass, lower the new glass into the door and feed the roller into the regulator track from the front and slide it towards the rear as you let the glass down. Twist and feed the vent frame back into position so it catches the front of the glass. Loosely install the vent frame bolt just to keep it sort of in position. Feed the glass weatherstrip back into the vent frame track, between the front edge of the glass and the track. Some soapy water might help. When you get it in, roll the window all the way up. And maybe up and down a little bit to settle the weatherstrip back in position. Now put the vent frame screws back in, tighten them and the bolt. Check to make sure the glass goes up and down to your satisfaction and put the rest back on
If you need a window motor, or motor roller bushings, you can remove the motor by pulling the door panel and look at the lower front of the door. You should be able to see one of the three 5/16" (or 8mm) motor bolts. The position of the other two is marked by "dimples" in the sheet metal. Use a drill bit big enough to fit a socket through (a 3/8" works for me) and drill through the dimples. You can now easily access the other two bolts. Unplug the motor. Support the door glass with something and remove the motor bolts. With a wiggle and pull you can get the motor off the regulator. Most people remove the door speaker and get the motor the rest of the way out through the speaker hole.

Why do the rear windows of a car have horizontal stripes?

The stripes you see on the rear window of a car is actually a pattern printed using an electrically conducting ink forming tracks with a predetermined value of resistance.By passing an electric current this can warm and defog the window, when there is condensation of moisture. In some cars, this is also used as an antenna for the radio.
