Don't Trust Me by 3oh!3

What do you say to somebody who is skeptical about modern medicine?

That is not skepticism, it's denialism.Skepticism is the suspension of judgement until there's evidence for a proposition or statement. A skeptic examines the data and then takes a provisional position based on that data. when you're a skeptic, you don't know where data will lead you.Denialism, on the other hand, is having a position in spite of all evidence to the contrary. A denialist is completely oblivious to facts and, essentially, tp reality. They tend to rationalize away the data in the belief that opinion is as valuable and reliable as facts.Modern medicine is the result of 400 years of scientific work that has effectively banished many of the ailments that pestered humankind for thousands of years, through the understanding of anatomy, physiology, biology, chemistry and physics. It is not some kind of a stand-alone belief that you can reject while still believing that poison and jumping from a seventh-floor window with no protection will kill you. While there is much that medicine still doesn't know (thanks to denialists in religion who prevented scientists from learning much about the human body until well after the Scientific Revolution), what it knows has allowed us to live longer and live better than all human beings born before Pasteur. It's the same knowledge that allows us to trust our food because microorganisms and toxic substances are absent and this can be ascertained to a high degree of confidence. Knowledge is interlinked, interdependent.Leprosy, smallpox, cholera, typhus, measles, mumps, varicella, polio and many other conditions are now rare or non-existent in societies with modern medicine. And many are still endemic in places where pseudomedicine or quackery is the healthcare first choice. We have 90 year-olds prancing around with titanium hips. People survive cancer for longer periods more often every day. We have anesthetics and analgesics, we have insulin and medications to prolong the lives of people with high blood pressure. And more...Rejecting these and many other facts is not skepticism any more than flat-earthers are "skeptics of the Earth's semisphericity".
