How Do You Rate All Star Game 1 = Great 10 = Bad

If Carmelo Anthony is such a great NBA player, why do his teams never win in the playoffs?

His teams do win in the playoffs.  Last year (2013), the NY Knicks won the first round against Boston. If you mean why hasn't he won a championship, it's because very few players can win championships.  Even very good ones.  I particularly like this chart from Nate Silver:LeBron's Odds of Catching JordanThe best player in the league, the MVP, has about a 20-25% chance of winning the championship in a given year.  Carmelo is not that.  An All-NBA player (i.e. one of the best 5 players in the league) has about 10% chance, so once in 10 years.Carmelo is arguably at that level, and if so, since he's been around for a total of 10 years, his expected number of championships up to now is only 1.  On the other hand, if he's below that, only All Star starter level (i.e. one of the best 10 players in the league) then his chances are only about 7% a year.  So he might only win 1 in 14 years, an entire career. And keep in mind Carmelo hasn't been at the All-NBA or All-Star starter level the whole time.  In his rookie year, for sure he wasn't.  Even a very good player like Melo is only at an all-NBA level for the 3-5 years of his prime, and all-star starter level for maybe 7-8 years.  Everyone wants to win championships, but it's very hard to judge the quality of a player solely by the number of championships he wins.

In the MLB is Randy Johnson overrated or is pedro martinez a great pitcher for the new york teams?

They are both great pitchers, but Johnson is getting old. His age is showing. He seems to have lost command of his slider, which was one of the worst pitches a right handed batter could face during his heyday. Pedro, if he is pampered is an amazing pitcher, maybe the best or one of the best pitchers in baseball. If he is used improperly, then he will wear down and stink up the town. If I had a choice, I would probably take Pedro right now.

Reviews: What do the stars in a five star rating system mean?

Amazon is an animal unto itself. Their 5 star rating is:1 = I hated it2 = I didn't like it3 = It was OK.4 = I liked it.5 = I loved itReviews on Amazon are subject to manipulation, but if an item has 100 reviews, the average is going to be accurate because nobody has enough friends to skew that many reviews. Generally, if an item has roughly 10 percent or less 1 star reviews, it's okay.Books are their own animal on Amazon. People are generally not moved to review books unless they loved it or hatred it. 1 = Likely a troll review, or someone who didn't bother to read or finish the book. Many people who hate profanity, sex, violence, etc tag a book with 1 star on principle, even if the objectionable content was noted in the book description. Some people will give a book 1 star because they don't like the genre.2 = Finished the book, but it either wasn't worth the effort or had serious flaws3 = It has good points and bad points.4 = Liked the book.5 = Loved it. Yes, sometimes the authors friends will post rave reviews, but these will likely occur in the first month after a release. There are many more false/ wrongful accusations of fake reviews. Publishing phenom Colleen Hoover got pounded for posting fake 5 star reviews when her first book received 50 5 star reviews in the first two weeks. It wasn't true. Happily, she remains a gracious and unspoiled lady despite the fact that she is now hauled around the country in a custom bus with her books painted on the side.Things get confusing if you hop over to GoodReads. At GR, 2= OK, 3= Like, 4= Loved and 5 = Phenomenal. A book with an average of 4 stars on Amazon is likely to average 3 stars on GR.The moral of this story is to check a site's own guidelines for awarding stars, and read a sampling of the reviews. If you're unsure, check the first few pages in the free sample. Before Amazon came along, that's what everybody did.

Who would you choose in an all star ODI World XI team, including only current players?

David Warner, Warner has had a period of golden form since the 2015 World Cup, notching up four hundreds en route to scoring 1,054 runs at an average of 55.47Quinton de Kock, He has been a thorn for opposition bowlers with his stroke play and six hitting ability. South Africa's terrific run of late in ODIs has been largely due to De Kock's splendid starts.Virat Kohli, Greatest of his generationSteve Smith, 2nd Greatest of his generationAB De Villiers, 360-degree batsman who can hit any ball, anywhere, against any bowler. Enough said.MS Dhoni, Greater than Virat Kohli, if top 5 will fail, MS can stabilize the inningsBen Stokes, Best all-rounder, powerful frame, aggressive intent with bat and ball. Stokes will take care of finishing the things off with Dhoni.Sunil Narine, Most dangerous in limited overs cricket, every time Narine comes to bowl, he looks like taking a wicket. And he can bat.Mitchell Starc, Starc is quick to make life uncomfortable for opposition batsmen, especially with the bounce gained from his 1.96m height - and boasts greater control of swing. During the 2015 World Cuphe was named Player of the Tournament for his 22 victims at 10.18, very impressive.Imran tahir, Tahir has a reputation for being able to contain the middle-periods of matches while also taking wicket.Kagiso Rabada, A strapping, genuine quick, most exciting talent, definitely deserves a place in my playing XI
