How Do You Remove Gasoline From Your Clothing And Skin

What should i do if i spill gasoline on my skin?

Lather your hands well with the hand soap you use, then rinse with cool water. Hot/warm water may irritate your skin. If your hands still smell like gasoline, lather your hands again.

Personally, I would throw them away, but I’ll give it a go, with a caveat: I’m not a chemical engineer, so I don’t really know how safe any of this is, though some people swear by the methods and some don’t. Okay, before you go ahead with this, keep in mind that you can never really get the smell nor the stains out of clothing on which gasoline was spilled, especially if a lot of it was spilled, and/or the fabric is heavy. So here goes… First, hang the item outside for a few days, so the gas can evaporate, then rinse it with a hose. Now here comes the fun part. You will need a five-gallon plastic bucket (home improvement stores have them), a pair of latex kitchen gloves, Dawn dishwashing liquid, baking soda, and a bristle brush (a nail brush could work). Wash the item in a bucket full of very hot water, with Dawn, then rinse in hot water. You will probably have to do this a couple of times, at least, before you put it in a washer to finish the job. You can also pre-treat the area with Dawn and/or a baking soda paste. I would never put anything like this in my washer (smell and general yukkiness), at least until there was no odor left. And I would never, ever put them into a dryer; it’s difficult to tell if you’ve really removed all the gas.Heloise says it best :) And, yes, she tells you how to wash them.Hints From Heloise: Getting gas smell out of clothes

What is the best way to get spilled gasoline off your skin and the smell out your clothes? Any health danger?

Use soap and water for both. If you have allot on the clothes wash it in a bucket outside. After 32 plus years of wrenching it's the cheapest way without stinking out the house. Dish soap works good on grease. If your going to do anything greasey put some on your hands ahead of time, dries the skin a bit. When I worked on the rigs there was another co drilling a mile away. They had a washing machine for rig clothes. Someones fuel can tipped over soaking everything. He loaded the machine and went to get rig wash "b". In that time the fumes had built up inside. Somehow when he turned it on a spark ignited the fumes. Blowing up the machine, flipped the lid so fast and hard that it broke his arm, left him deaf for hours as well.

The following is stolen from Hess’ Material Safety Data Sheet (pdf link).Back in the day, gasoline was a universal solvent for getting grease or oil off your hands.Skin exposure should be avoided as gasoline contains benzene, a carcinogen. As a hazard it’s about a 1 or 2 on a scale of 10.

To remove the skunk smell from people or pets use tomato juice. You will want to literally bathe in it. As far as clothes go, if you can't replace the item I would soak it in vinegar or if you have enough items for a load in the washer then pour a liberal amount of vinegar directly onto the clothes and wash. Repeat as needed.

Removing Great Stuff foam from your skin???

your hands Vaseline and place them in plastic gloves for a hour then take a 3blade disposable razor (I used one called extreme) and shave them, you will get the hang of the amount of pressure, next morning do the same in the shower (must be a steam thing) sounds crazy but it works. Be careful around your nails... when you get 99% off then try the pumice stone as mention above. Please let me know how it works

Whats the best way to remove paint from the skin?

If it is latex paint you wash it off with soap and water. If it is oil base paint you wash it off with paint thinner and then wash the thinner off with soap and water. If it is lacquer you use lacquer thinner and then soap and water.

You really should have read the instructions before you started. And I bet the next time you paint you wear a painter's cap and a long sleeve shirt.
