Why does the airport in Málaga got the letters “AGP” in their sticker?

I am from Málaga and there are many local legends about this, like that it comes from Roman Empress Agrippina or that it means Airport Grand Picasso, as the Airport is officially named after Malagan painter Picasso. However, the official explanation is that all reasonable options were taken. MLG is for Malagne, Indonesia, MAL for Mangole Indonesia, MGA for Managua and MAG for Madang, Papua New Guinea.Hence, they took two following letters AG, and added P.Reference: ¿Por qué el aeropuerto de Málaga tiene el extraño código AGP?

How far is Sotogrande from Marbella in Spain?

30-40 minutes. If you drive through San Pedro at peak hour : 50 minutes. If you drive through San Pedro at peak hour in August : 2 hours. If you take the tollroad : 30 minutes. I recommend though that you forget either of these two places and stick to Estepona right in the middle :)

I am planning to spend a week next summer in either Malaga, Spain, in the southern part of Cyprus or in Crete. Do you have any past experiences that might help me decide?

I’ve lived in both places and I would say that Cyprus has the edge if you’re looking for a more relaxed vacation. Certainly, the climate is hotter, the sea is calm and clear and the lifestyle is very laid-back. Malaga, on the other hand, is a city that happens to be on the coast. IF you’re simply flying into Malaga airport, you would probably be better staying further down the coast, say Marbella or Estepona. Marbella is more up-market when it comes to prices, whereas Estepona is more like a traditional Spanish town where you can find reasonably priced restaurants and shopping. The seas can be quite rough and murky (due to the waves) but the beaches are good for lounging about on. Of course, depending on where you’re traveling from, Malaga may be a better destination for mere convenience - it’s served by a greater number of international airports. Cyprus, on the other hand, is further from continental Europe (about 4.5 hours flying time) and is served by predominantly charters or low-cost carriers. Cyprus also has the advantage that a lot of people speak English very well, so if Greek isn’t your language, you won’t have to worry about communication.Either would make a good vacation destination and both use a common currency (the Euro). So, take your choice and just enjoy.

Shuttle bus from airport to hotel?

You say you are booking rather than have booked. I believe that once you've booked you will receive full information regarding the shuttle bus in the confirmation email.

I notice in another question that you are going to Malaga. If this is so, then you will leave Malaga Airport through Terminal 3. As you approach the exit you will see representatives of the common shuttle companies (Shuttledirect, Resorthoppa, Suntransfers) with their boards. Or you might even see a person holding a board with your name on. You can't miss them as there is only the one way out.
