Why is the quality of my GoPro HERO 3 not the same as what is advertised?
Noise; what you call grain, becomes more apparent when you increase the ISO. I am not sure of your camera, but many cameras have auto ISO and you cannot manually adjust it. Increasing the ISO is generally required for low light conditions. Cameras on automatic normally use a low ISO in ideal lighting conditions, and a high ISO in poor lighting conditions. However, some cameras are semi-brain dead when it comes to selecting the proper ISO. At any rate, if you are taking photos at home inside, or on a dark dreary day, then expect them to have more noise (grain) as the camera has to boost the ISO to get sufficient light - especially given the small sensor and optics the GoPro cameras have. The video you see in the store was undoubtedly taken in the most ideal conditions, with highly experienced videographers. Barring any problems with your camera, I am sure your camera is capable of taking the same quality photos as you see in the demo, if the conditions are right, and the camera is setup correctly. Try to take a video outside on a bright sunny day, and see if it improves.
Which is the best GoPro Camera to buy?
The GoPro Hero 4 Silver is the most popular. It has WiFi and an LCD screen. And yes, it takes still photos too at a decent resolution. However .... the GoPro is NOT a good general purpose video or still camera. It was designed to be a great small action sports camera that can be mounted almost anywhere. But it has a fixed-focus wide-angle non-zoom lens and few manual controls. It also has very poor sound. If a sports action camera is not what you want, you should be looking at good point-and-shoot cameras such as the Canon Powershot series or Sony Cybershot series. They are available in a number of different models with different features and prices.

I would like to make YouTube videos but I would also like to start picking up photography. I would either get a go pro or a professional camera. I can't decide what i'd like. I need the go pro or the professional camera to take good quality videos and good quality pictures. I don't know which one to pick. HELP!?
