How Gruesome Is The First Saw Movie And Is It Actually A Good Movie

What is the first horror movie you saw as a child and why was it scary?

I think it might have been the original version of Day of the Triffids. Watched on an old Bush tv sometime in the early 70s. Not strictly a horror film and what with rubber plants as the monster, not very scary. Even for a five year old. Which I was at the time.I’m reminded though of an other occasion a few years later. While travelling with the parents by ferry some years ago (1978), from Ireland to ‘the mainland’. I somehow found myself in the onboard cinema. At the tender age of ten I was watching an 18 cert film called The Legacy. I can remember little about the plot, if there was one. What does stick in my mind are several scenes. One lady drowns when a sheet of glass slides over the top of the swimming pool she’s immersed in, preventing her from escape.Someone else gets immolated in a fire and ends up being fed to dogs.Another character, played by Roger Daltrey I found out subsequently, chokes on a bone and is administered with an emergency tracheotomy. Graphically. What the hell were the staff of that ferry thinking of when they let me in? Not to mention my parents. No wonder I have such a high tolerance for gore to this day.

What's a good first horror movie to show a kid?

That really depends on how gruesome you want it to be.There’s Tales From The Crypt and The Twilight Zone stuff, very tame, and usually good for kids because it has some kind of preachy moral admonishment at the end of it.You asked about movies, so I’d go with The Twilight Zone Movie. The first segment was about a racist bigot who got (SPOILER ALERT) teleported into WWII as a Jew. Hilarious. And also a preachy moral admonishment about “Don’t be a racist or you’ll be teleported to World War II as a prisoner of the Nazis”.The Twilight Zone sometimes crosses over to sci-fi so be on the lookout for crossover stuff.Amazing Tales (Stephen Spielberg) and Erie, Indiana (80’s TV show, half hour) are also great kid-friendly horror-lite stuff.Basically, kids probably need their horror dialed down: Psycho (I was 9 when I watched it. Not as scary as I thought a man in a dress would be.)Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark (At 7, I thought the ghosts looked fake.)Ghostbusters (I fell to pieces every time Bill Murray spoke.)As an editor and someone in the movie business, you’d probably want to make your kid watch The Evil Dead (basic film-making on a shoestring) and Resident Evil (hot girl that kills zombies) and Zombieland (how to incorp humor into a zombie flick) and Shaun of the Dead. Also, don’t forget this 2012 classic by yours truly:Hsien of the Dead (2012)(If you mail US$10 to 47 Kallang Pudding Road, #5–11, Republic of Singapore, you’ll receive an autographed copy by the Writer/Director/Producer himself.)

Which Saw movie is the most gruesome?

I watched Saw I yesterday, but I didn't really find it very gross.

Which Saw movie do you think is the most and least gruesome?

- I think that Saw 3 sounds quite gruesome and disgusting.

How gruesome is the first Saw movie? And is it actually a good movie?

The threat of gore is the best part of this movie. It does pay off with some gruesome parts, but the suspense of gore to come is what keeps it interesting.

Are the SAW movies scary?

I wanna watch the Saw movies because the story sounds good and it looks really cool. But if it's really scary I don't wanna see it. I have seen all the Final Destination movies and not gotten even a little scared. Is it really all that scary?

Does anyone like the Saw movies beside me???

I love horror movies, but this subgenre often called "torture porn" doesn't do much for me. Realism can be a good thing in creepy movies; in graphic movies though, I prefer more of the Evil Dead (almost cartoonish) style. Realism in torture movies ceases to be entertaining (at least for me) and becomes too exploitative. I think these movies (Saw, Hostel, Touristas, etc.) satisfy some primal violent urge in humans, probably the same thing that historically drove people to Roman gladiator games or public executions. I don't think my brain is wired that way.

Overall, I think less is often more. The greatest horror films of all time are not pornographically violent; they're subtly creepy.

How is Saw a horror movie?

Saw has a reputation much like Texas Chainsaw Massacre of 70s of being much gorier than it actually is. If you watch the movie, it doesn't have as much on screen graphic violence as the sequels. It's a pretty good and twisted murder mystery with a supremely effective twist ending. It's a terrifying movie because everyone is human atleast in the first part until they turned Jigsaw into a supernaturally clever entity in the sequels.

Is SAW IV good?

UGH I HATE THAT
Q: Is SAW IV good?
A: IDK, i didn't see that.

lol.

YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES
That movie was awesome.
It made the first 3 look not so good, and even though they're awesome!!

The only issue i really had was they had 3 characters that looked like the same person, all people who saw that movie know who i'm referring to.

Yes. Go see it. Its very good. its gory, but has a great plot, but the ONE thing i disliked about that movie was it was the first 3 over again. But i still loved it. And expect characters from Saw I and II returning, such as ERIC MATTHEWS!!
Also expect the classic ending from the first to movies when the NEW JIGSAW!!!! closes the door locking it saying 'Game Over!'

LOVED IT. Best movie, i was actually worried sick, i was worried sick thinking i wouldn't be able to see it until DVD!!
But the a friend called me up and invited me! I WAS SO HAPPY. ITS THE BEST MOVIE THIS MONTH, OR YEAR!!!!
CAN'T WAIT FOR SAW V. I WONDER HOW THAT'LL GO.
And expect to see JEFF, he showed up at like the very last second, and when he shows up it gets very intense because were afraid he'll accidently cause something to happen, that we dont want to!.

SEE IT SEE IT SEE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scary movies to watch with my crush?

So I invited my crush over to watch horror movies with me Halloween Night cause we both LOVE them!! He said he's not sure yet, but if he's available that night it'd be great. So what horror movies do you think would be really scary? I can't take a massive amount of gruesome gore, like the Saw movies but I loved movies like Nightmare on Elm Street, The Lovely Bones(Not a horror, but I LOVED the suspenseful scenes!), Mirrors, The Exorcist wasn't bad, and I liked the original Child's Play movies (After the second one, they just got stupid -.-). All I know is he can take gore, he liked the first Saw Movie cause it had a really good plot, and he likes Zombie movies. Oh! I also LOVE jump scenes! So any suggestions?
