About how long does a earthquake last?

Dear friend ,you got several answers for your question. The 1960 ever recorded biggest earthquake of 9.5 on Richter scale at Chili was sensed for about 7 minutes.I personally with my own earthquake alarm I sensed the earthquake wave for an unimaginable time of 12 minutes 2 hours before Tsunami struck our Indian coast. But we felt the physical shaking for few seconds only. The long time warning was due to high magnitude of 9.3 on Richter scale and my place is 2040 k/m from the epicenter that has helped me to issue the warning .But my warning was ignored.

Presumably indefinitely. They were proposed to have extensive cooling and refrigeration systems embedded into them. Also, these were meant largely for use in the North Atlantic fighting German U-boats where the water stays generally quite chilly.Just like on glaciers, it was found huge masses of ice will very slowly “flow” over time. It was found after building a 1,000 ton scale model (yes they actually built one) that it would require far more steel structure than originally expected to keep it intact. With the shortage of steel being the primary driver for even contemplating such an absurd ship in the first place, that was a major problem. Finally, it was realized the ship would be almost impossible to turn or maneuver, nor would it be as cheap or easy to repair as originally envisioned. All these factors combined with the reducing relevance of the German U-boat campaign doomed the project. The concept was and still technically is feasible, there just isn’t any need for a 2 million ton iceberg large enough to land strategic bombers on, since those can fly around the globe these days from anywhere.

The news reports have shown the shaking and told how long it lasted. I had hoped that this US Geological Survey page on this major earthquake event which was initially reported as a 6.6, then 6.7 and finally as 7.0 with numerous aftershocks would also provide an indication of the length of the time of the shaking, but it does not seem to do so.https://earthquake.usgs.gov/eart...It does have a great deal of useful information at the bottom of the pageThe November 30, 2018, Mw 7.0 earthquake near Anchorage, Alaska, occurred as the result of normal faulting at a depth of about 40 km. Focal mechanism solutions for the event indicate slip occurred on a moderately dipping fault striking north-south (dipping either to the east at about 30 degrees, or the west at about 60 degrees). At the location of this earthquake, the Pacific plate is moving towards the northwest with respect to the North America plate at about 57 mm/yr, subducting beneath Alaska at the Alaska-Aleutians Trench, approximately 150 km south-southeast of this event. The location and mechanism of this earthquake indicate rupture occurred on an intraslab fault within the subducting Pacific slab, rather than on the shallower thrust-faulting interface between these two plates.Earthquakes are common in this region. Over the past century, 14 other M 6+ earthquakes have occurred within 150 km of the November 30, 2018 event. Two of these – a M 6.6 earthquake in July 1983 and a M 6.4 event in September 1983 – were at a similarly shallow depth and caused damage in the region of Valdez. The M 9.2 great Alaska earthquake of March 1964, was an interface thrust faulting earthquake that ruptured over several hundred kilometers between Anchorage and the Alaska-Aleutians trench, and to the southwest. For More InformationIRIS Special Event PageThe Great M9.2 Alaska Earthquake and Tsunami of March 27, 1964

How long is the wait list for AST A-school in the Coast Guard?

There is currently very little wait for AST "A" school......once you are qualified for it. The second part of that sentence is the key, and qualifying for it can take a year or two.

Note that 3 year waits for "A" schools are not at all uncommon in the Coast Guard anymore.

For the official USCG source to your question, read this:

http://www.uscg.mil/psc/epm/docs/A-Schoo...

Page 2 talks about what's involved to become eligible for AST "A" school. Page 7 (or so) lists the currently project wait times for all "A" schools once you're eligible and on the list. Note that this is only the current snapshot. These wait times can and do change as service needs change.

See a recruiter to learn more, and good luck!

The better question is WILL there be a deal at all?The deal, if it occurs, will last as long as each party deems it to be to their advantage. DPRK leadership has no problem cheating, and then brazenly violating agreements that no longer achieve their aims.Looking at it from the perspective of the DPRK, agreeing to disarm could be the prelude to invasion. We promised Captain Obvious (Kaddafi) we would stay out of Libya. Then Obama decided to just invade and overthrow him. So the Norks have reason to worry too.Lets wait for things to unfold.

How did the North Coast of California get the name of "Redwood Empire"?You probably have never been to the North Coast of California. The area is covered with Redwood trees, Sequoia sempervirens to be exact. These trees are one of the oldest living species on Earth and are magnificent. If you go into a Redwood Forrest, you can actually feel them as well as see them.

They never really settled in the sense of establishing a new Norse colony. Essentially, most of the Norse contacts in North America where trade missions. The Skrælings (Native Aboriginals) were just about as scary as the Vikings. It wouldn’t make a friendly environment for invaders. From what I’ve read, the Norse came and went, but never really established anything more than a trading post. It appeared they did not have an interest in colonization. On the other hand, Greenland and Iceland have very few aboriginals (maybe Iceland didn’t have any). Those islands were settled by Norse explorers such as Erik the Red.

How long did hurricane opal last?

27 September - 5 October 1995

See the full Report written by Max Mayfield of the National Hurricane Center
http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/1995opal.html

Here is a basic report.

Satellite imagery and synoptic analyses indicate that Opal originated from a tropical wave that emerged from the west coast of Africa on 11 September. The wave moved westward across the Atlantic into the western Caribbean Sea by 23 September and merged with a broad area of low pressure centered in the vicinity of 15N° 80°W. The combined system drifted west-northwestward toward the Yucatan peninsula over the following few days without significant development. Deep convection increased near the center of the low and the post-analysis "best track" in Figure 1 (108K GIF) shows that a tropical depression formed about 70 n mi south-southeast of Cozumel, Mexico at 1800 UTC 27 September.

Air Force Reserve unit aircraft investigating Opal over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico reported that the minimum central pressure steadily dropped. Aircraft reports and satellite estimates suggest that Opal strengthened into a hurricane near 1200 UTC 2 October while centered about 150 n mi west of Merida, Mexico. A banding type eye appeared in satellite imagery later in the day while a large amplitude mid- to upper-level trough moving into the central United States began turning Opal slowly toward the north.

The peak intensity appears to have occurred near the end of an eyewall contraction cycle. Soon thereafter, the small inner eyewall diminished as an outer eyewall became more dominant. The hurricane weakened during this process, but was still a marginal Category 3 hurricane as the center made landfall at Pensacola Beach, Florida near 2200 UTC 4 October. The collapse of the inner eyewall, reduced sea surface temperatures along the Gulf coast and increased upper-level westerlies likely contributed to the weakening.

How long does a shroom trip last?

It can be 4-7 hours but is almost always 6 for me.

Splitting an eighth is an excellent dosage for a first time, by the way. You will get the concept of what tripping is like, but will probably not really have a full-on trip yet, unless you have a low psilocybin tolerance.

I would suggest refraining from eating beforehand, however. They will kick in faster and stronger if you take them on an empty stomach. Also, you will lose all appetite when you feel the mushrooms' effects.

Don't put them on pizza. From my experience, the best way to eat them is this:

1. Chew up a tropical starburst, but don't swallow
2. Put some shrooms into your mouth and chew them thouroughly with the candy
3. Swallow when you are comfortable doing so
4. Repeat until you've eaten all your mushrooms

Good luck and have fun.
