How Long Does It Takes To Get Medically Cleared From Meps To Join Military

Does the military actually look up your records unless you mention something? If I'm of good mental and physical health and don't disclose that I was on antidepressants for 6 month and have no later issues, will this ever be a problem?

It depends on the security level of the job you do, in my experience. And the longer you plan on staying with in, the higher your pay, and the more likely a "Confidential" won't cover your need-to-know. For instance, a unit armorer at a front-line unit, say light infantry, will have possession of & responsibility for a few million dollars worth of AA&E, without needing to store any munitions or ammunition on site. That's just the "cost of replacement". Add in the various and sundry variety of technologies that the Brass really wants kept safe & secure, and then you have an idea how fine a comb they might take to your "record".Unit commanders can authorize Confidential.FBI does a record search for Secret.I don't know/can't recall what a Top-Secret requires, but revealing/selling the data covered by it is a crime under both Federal Law & the UCMJ.My advice: Lies of this type are setting one's self up for failure and ruin. Just my 2¢, tho. If you plan on an "in & out, 1 (tour) & done", & ya wanna be a Rifleman (11-B, aka 11-bang-bangs) or a similar MOS, it may not matter.I still advise against lies, tho

How long does it takes to get medically cleared from meps to join military?

It could take a week, or it could take months. It depends on what the issue is, how severe it was, how much of an impact it could potentially have on military service, and what the mood of the guy who is the approving authority is in that day.

How long does it take to be medically cleared?

I'm so confused right now. I'm hearing it takes up to 90 days to obtain clearance but my timframe doesn't seem to fit. Can someone please tell me how many months it took for you to be cleared after mailing in the paperwork for medical clearance??? I'm pretty sure I will be approved. I'm the only dependent and have no medical history. I haven't been to the doctor or dentist in awhile but besides that I am perfectly healthy. Please let me know. Thanks.

If I have eczema, will I be disqualified from joining the military?

Yes, Current or history of atopic dermatitis or eczema after the 9th birthday is disqualifying and I have linked the Navy's Manual of Medicine chapter on medical qualifications below. All branches have similar medical requirements in this regard. The above paragraph being stated this is usually an extremely easy waiver to get so don't lie to the doctor.According to the current Naval guidelines(the Navy actually tends to be the strictest branch medically since they operate in the most isolated environments): Psoriasis, eczema, recurrent rashes, or atopic dermatitis that may be worsened by the work environment to the extent that function is impaired or unacceptable risk of secondary infection is incurred are disqualifying. In laymen's terms this means that if it can be controlled with basic over the counter measures without causing an infection (which is the vast majority of patients) you should be fine.Check chapter 15 of the link below.http://www.med.navy.mil/directiv...

Can I still join the military with a bulging disc in lower back? Army, Navy Or Air Force?

That doctor is not the one who would make the determination. Army Regulation 40-501 "Standards of Medical Fitness" is cited below. In a nutshell if you are physically active and there is no limitation of motion, weakness, or problems with your spine you should be good to go without need for a medical waiver. My best advice is get an orthopedic evaluation before going to MEPS. Lying in a federal offense and the government has been known to put people in prison for it dependent upon individual circumstances. The problem with a "bulging disc" is there is no telling when (or even if) it might cause you trouble. Problem is in basic training under physical and emotional stress you could have a problem. Then if you falsified information to enlist you could have BIG TROUBLE legally in addition to back pain. Here is what it says on the SF 93 Report of Medical History you will be required to fill out (just above your signature):
I certify that I have reviewed the foregoing information supplied by me and that it is true and complete to the best of my knowledge. I authorize any of the doctors, hospitals, or clinics
mentioned above to furnish the Government a complete transcript of my medical record for purposes of processing my application for this employment or service. I understand that
falsification of information on Government forms is punishable by fine and/or imprisonment.

2–29. Spine and sacroiliac joints
b. Current or history of any condition, including, but not limited to the spine or sacroiliac joints, with or without
objective signs that:
(1) Prevents the individual from successfully following a physically active vocation in civilian life (724) or that is
associated with local or referred pain to the extremities, muscular spasm, postural deformities, or limitation of motion
is disqualifying.
(2) Requires external support is disqualifying.
(3) Requires limitation of physical activity or frequent treatment is disqualifying.

Best of luck

How long does it take for your medical papers to get reviewed, once sent to MEPS?

Ok..here is the long story. I original went to MEPS on January 5, 2008 to join the Air force Reserves..My dumb *** slipped up and said that I had Irritable Bowl Syndrome. If anybody knows about this, you should know that it isnt that serious. Sometimes I have problems doing the #2. Anyways..so my medical packet was incomplete til I sent back a clearance letter from my doctor..Moving on...I decided while I was waiting on my letter that I wanted to go Active Duty. So I went to another recruiter and gave him my information. So here is the timeline..I gave the Active Duty Recruiter all of my information including my clearance letter from my doctor the first week of Feb..It is now the first week of March and I havent heard anything back..Is this normal?..Should I get another recruiter?..I am getting really inpatient..

Medically disqualified from the Army can i join another branch?

not likely.

the ARMY runs the MEPS. what is a medical DQ for one is a DQ for another. we're talking basic DQ's that you would have to pass to enter ANY service. some career fields require MORE stringent requirements.

but the bottom line i am afraid is you are DQ'd. medical waviers have always been tough to get, and now with this recruiting climate - almost impossible. there are just too many applicants that do not need any waivers at all, so they are going to go with them. su(cks) perhaos, but that is the way it goes. no one cares you are a he-man and work in construction or that you work out every day or are in great shape. BIG DEAL. the military way of life has many different physcial and emotional demands.

about the only service that would even consider a waiver, would be the Army. if they said no, you are done because the other services ceratinly won't, and as i mentioned, in this recruiting climate, i don't see it.

enjoy the construction industry. maybe you can be the next "Holmes on homes"?

Why does meps take so long to get back to the people temporarily disqualified?

I was stopped at meps due to swollen lymph nodes and tonsils (was just a bad cold). I went and got medically cleared by two separate doctors and since the swelling has been long gone. The corresponding paperwork was sent to meps over a month ago and my recruiters and I still haven't received a yes or no on the matter. Is there a way I can expedite the process/what is the hold up anyway?
