How Long Should I Wait To See The Dr Again

How long should I wait to see a surgeon after an injury?

Whatever the injury is, you should get a surgeon’s opinion as soon as possible, because in some cases the tissues retract or shrink. Sometimes if a tendon is cut or torn, it can shorten, which will make it much more difficult to repair. Once it shortens, you can’t just pull it back together, and if the tendon shortens enough, you might require a tendon graft to cover the gap that is created. This will obviously make the surgery much more complicated.A good surgeon will be able to advise you as to whether it is okay to wait until the swelling goes down first, or perhaps to see if the injury will get better on its own. However, generally speaking I would get a surgeon’s opinion A.S.A.P.Also, for any surgery you are considering, it is always a good idea to make sure the surgeon is properly qualified and is board-certified in your area/region and in your desired procedure. You can easily check to see if a surgeon is board-certified at ABMS Solutions Home, or by calling the American Board of Medical Specialties at (1-800-776-2378). I also wrote a comprehensive Quora answer on how to find a good surgeon, which you can read here.

I scratched my eye, how long should I wait to wear my contacts again?

Well I must have scratched my eye prior to putting my lenses in today, because my eyes were a little sore yesterday but I just thought I'd scratch my lower eye lid, so anyway I put my lenses in today and they were fine for about an hour then I literally couldn't see out my right eye the pain was so bad but I couldn't take them out because I was at work and didn't have my lens case (the only time I forgot it) so I had to go 4 hours with this pain and all my right eye was doing was watering and went really bloodshot when I got home, I took them straight out but I still couldn't open my eye, it feels like something is constantly in my eye. But anyway after a couple of eye drops my eyes are open but it's still quite swollen and painful. Do you think if the pain persists tomorrow I should go to the hospital (no doctors open on a Sunday) I'm going to leave my lenses out but if I don't go to the doctors how long will it take to heal and when can I wear my lenses again? Thanks

How long should I have to wait to have sex after being treated for Chlamydia?

No sex until you've finished the antibiotics, plus one week. Usually the antibiotic course is a week, and so you shouldn't have sex for at least 2 weeks after you start taking them. It goes without saying that if the symptoms are still there, go and see the doctor again! However antibiotics for chlamydia are very effective.

If your symptoms came about 3 weeks ago, it means you most likely got it roughly 4-6 weeks ago. But women, and sometimes men, can have it without symptoms.

Metronidazole is another antibiotic.

Edit: I have never, ever heard of waiting "6 months" for the disease to be detectable! That honestly sounds like chinese whispers to me. A chlamydia test becomes positive a few days after infection. It is detected through either a urine test or a swab test. You should be retested after a few months. Read some of the references below.

How long do you wait for a nurse to call you back?

Well that depends on the call.

I know it sounds unfair but the triage nurse who calls you back also handles most of the emergencies of the day, like where to send them, who needs to come in, etc... So if it's not a life and death emergency there maybe someone who takes precedence in urgency.

This does not mean that your call is not important, just that there maybe something going on that is an urgent emergency. If you feel it is urgent or you are scared you can always call back and voice your concerns and ask for an estimate as to when the nurse will call you back. Sometimes they will try to talk to you right away if you are on the phone. It depends on the office and protocol.

It is your health, if it is a true emergency, if you are having issues breathing, bleeding, or are losing consciousness, are pregnant and fear for your baby call and refuse to be called back. While most offices try to serve their patients the best they can, you are ultimately responsible for your health care, so be proactive.

If its not an urgent urgent matter, be patient, someone will call you back.

How long should I wait after missing my period to see a doctor?

It's hard but try & be patient! You might just need to wait a few more days, it's a good sign if you are TTC!!! Your hormone levels might not be high enough to show up on a urine test. If you absolutely cannot wait, go to your Dr and get a blood test to see if you are pregnant. No one will look at you bad, you are just anxious!

Good luck!

How long should i wait before calling the doctor back?

An hour seems like an eternity when you are waiting, but it's not uncommon for a doctors office. They usually try to return calls in between patients or after lunch, sometimes at the end of the day.At least that has been the policy at most doctors offices I have worked at. You can always try calling back and explaining that you don't have a cell and don't want to miss his call, it may not work. You may get ahold of an unsympathetic nurse. ( I hope not ) I have had people call back 5 times in an hour and it was frustrating because my hands would be tied. I couldn't pull the doctor out of a room or stop a procedure when we had 15 people in the waiting room, the hospital on another line, a referring doctor demanding a return call and 10 other messages to give him, blood draws, prescriptions to be called in, patients to take back. It just may be simply a matter of him being slammed with alot of sick people in his office at the moment.I know it is irritating on your end.
