How Long Will It Take For My Cat And Dog To Get Along

If you have both a cat and a dog, how do they get along?

I had 7 cats and a Siberian Husky, a breed of dog which everyone said can't tolerate critters like cats.Since I brought my Husky when he was a pup, the task is much easier, just introduce him/her to your cat(s). Sometimes they fight, but mostly it just friendly fight. No one gets injured badly.Even now, my Husky loves cat than a dog. Everytime he saw an injured cat he has an urge to lick and clean it.if you want to make your dog tolerable to cats, buy a pup less than 6 months (if possible) because older they get your dog(perhaps) will be harder to tolerate catsWell I guess pictures speak louder than words. It's my Husky with his litte brother. It was a stray cat i picked and he is comfortable with my Husky. My Husky with his friend. When my husky came for the first time in my house this white cat is the first cat playing with him.Edit:Whoa, Thanks for the upvotes! I never had upvotes more than 10 before! And i found some of my Husky pictures in my laptop, Enjoy! For somebody who wondering how my Husky can tolerate Indonesian climates, I didnt live in a big city like Jakarta or Surabaya. In the night is getting chilly here, sometimes its about 17 celcius. And in the day it never exceed 29 celcius. Unlike Jakarta or Surabaya which is 30 degrees upwards is common.

Cat and Dog get along?

yes they will adventually get along, it just takes time

they have to learn their boundaries with each other

your cat swattin the dog is basically the cat telling the dog "no, i dont like that" "stop it" or "leave me alone"

the dog will learn in time what the cat will tolerate and what is acceptible to the cat, then they will settle down and be friends

Do cats and dogs get along?

I have 3 cats at home but, I found a puppy that someone dropped off at my work. She is really nice and playful. I've been thinking about taking her home but, I don't know how my cats will react. I'm afraid that my cats will be mad and run away or, they will end up fighting with the dog. Do you think it's a good idea to take this dog home?

Can my cats get along at all?

Keep them apart for some days and start again. While they are together, give more attention to the first and older cat. Rewards will help. If they start growling, be able to tell wich one begins the fight or chase the other and stop it. You can shout No! and show you will not allow fight. Play with both with a ribbon or string, keep individual food bows, have 3 litterboxes. Talk to a vet, some of them will know about cat behavior and will help you. I live with 13 cats and all except one go along with each others. The exception is a 9 year old big calico cat, Janis. She lived alone with an old woman since she was a kitty until 5 years old. She never went to the vet, never met other cats, was kept indoors all alone. Her owner was ill, Alzheimer… eventually the old Lady was put in elder care house and the cat was to be thrown away to the street. Someone noticed and took the cat to a vet hospital and put to adoption. They even couldn’t know her name. As soon I saw her picture in Facebook, her wide open terrified eyes, I knew I must gave her a living home. I had experience with feral and traumatized cats. She took her shots, was neutered and dewormed. She lived in my bedroom and was very insecure for months. I give her time and love. Now she’s with us for 4,5 years. Still a little nervous, only tolerates a very shy semi feral cat, a female too. She is afraid of males and one of them really bullies her, just for amusing. He does not hurt her but love to see her running away yelling and growling. And she will do it everytime he shows up! Where I live, they can go outdoors and have lots of places to be alone and to hide. When Janis can’t take it anymore, she comes to me and stay in my bedroom for a couple of days, the time she needs to feel secure again. She still doesn’t get along with other cats but will tolerates them if they don’t come too close to her. But she likes people. She would be happier being an only child but she’s already 9 years old and atached to me, so a home changing would be bad to her. I think she is happy in her singular way. She’s healthy, eats well, roll in the ground, walks on the roof… all alone. That’s the way she likes to live.

What gender of cat will get along best with my male dog?

male cats would be more likely to play with the dog, and females would be most likely to ignore it. as long as the cats grow up with the dog, they won't have any problems with the dog. If you want 2 cats, you should get male because they get along better. Females have issues with each other. We had 6 cats and a dog at one point in our house, but the two kittens got along great with the dog. They were male. The female cats wanted nothing to do with him.
