How Many Calories Does A 17 Year Old Female Need To Have

5'4, 170 lbs, 17 year old female: How much do I need to lose?

Since your height is 5'4", weighing between 143 and 157 is healthy. I'm 5'5" and weigh 179, and I'm trying to get down to 155. But at the weight you are now, you aren't unhealthy at all. Doctors would agree.

How many calories does 17-year old need to eat a day?

An average human body needs about 1200 calories just to maintain basic body functions. If you're mostly sedentary (which means you don't do any exercise but walking to/from the car, to/from class), then you'd need about 1500 calories. If you get some exercise (around 30 minutes) then maybe 1650? That's how many I try to eat when I do nothing but lounge around all day, and it maintains my weight quite well.

If you're trying to loose weight, remember that you'll burn less and less calories exercising as your body grows lighter.

I'm a 17 years old, 164 cm tall and 73 kg female. How many calories would be ideal for me to lose in weight? What type of exercise should I be doing?

The easiest way, although tedious, to lose weight is to count your calories, which is basically your calories in (food that you eat or drink) vs calories you burn. Assuming that you do not do any exercise, you can calculate your RMR (resting metabolic rate), which is basically what calories you burn without doing anything given your height, weight, and age. A quick calculation tells you burn around 1,560 calories per day without doing anything. There are many RMR calculators that you can find on online to measure somewhat accurately how many calories you burn daily. To lose weight gradually and healthily, you need to eat and drink less than 1,560 calories by around 15-20%, which is around 300 calories per day, meaning you shouldn't be eating more than 1,250 calories a day. That can be done by just skipping one chocolate bar, or a couple of sodas, or about 5 digestive biscuits a day. The point is if you make small changes in your eating habits, it can go a long way. By losing 300 calories a day, it means you lose 2,700 calories a week, which means about 0.5-0.8 kg a week. Don't make the calorie deficit too big, because although you might lose weight faster, but the chances are much higher that you will regain what you lost. By keeping it gradual you make sure that the weight stays off.To make the weight lost even more healthy, you can choose to change your eating habits by cutting down on sugar and refined carbohydrates (anything white) and fried foods. To add to that, if you are prepared to take it to the next step and exercise, then that is great for you. If you have never done any exercise in your life, any kind of exercise for 30 minutes, at least 3 days a week will have a good impact on your health and weight. I will need more details on your exercising habits and history to be more specific on that front. Calorie counting is sometimes boring and tedious, so that aside, if you make the decision to cut down on refined carbs and fried foods (better yet, completely remove them from your diet), you are well on your way to a better healthier and fitter you.Good Luck

Im a 17 year old 5ft2 female on a 1200 calorie average diet?

Well as you can get from the question i am a 17 year old female, i am 5 foot 2 and im on a healthy well balanced diet that averages to be 1200 calories a day (plus exercise of course, and plenty of water)

Now i was recommended by a large number of people that 1200 calories is fine just don't go any lower... but on here i have asked about my diet and people say i will not lose weight because it is to low... why is it that people on yahoo say it is to low but my nurse, friends, experts etc say its fine???

bare in mind im 5 foot 2! not you average 5 foot 4-6 female
and i have smallish frame work(small bones not huge lol)
Which means i don't need the recommended daily average on a diet to lose weight... because im not you typical average female im shorter and smaller but still want to lose weight

so why is it that people on yahoo insist that 1200 calories is not enough.... this time answer with the knowledge of im not your average 17 year old female...

thanks

How many calories a day would a 220 pound, 17 year old male burn? (lightly active)

The human body uses about 60% of calories just to keep up with natural processes at rest. The amount of calories you burn at rest is termed your basal metabolic rate (BMR). The more lean muscle mass you have the higher your BMR. For this reason, individuals who pack more muscles can and will increase their calorie burning abilities around the clock! The remainder of the energy pie is divided between activity and digestion. 30% of energy (calories) is used for physical activity while 10% is used in the process of digestion. The simplest way to find out your BMR is by using the Calculator on Bodybuilding.com. Most calculators require you to input your gender, age, weight, and height, so you should be able to do it yourself :)If you are curious about the formula behind BMR calculation, here it is for posterity sake:W = weight in kilograms (weight (lbs)/2.2) =weight in kgH = height in centimeters (inches x 2.54) =height in cmA = age in yearsMen: BMR=66.47+ (13.75 x W) + (5.0 x H) – (6.75 x A)Women: BMR=665.09 + (9.56 x W) + (1.84 x H) – (4.67 x A)For instance, a 27 years old male who weighs 71 kg and is 170 cm tall would have a BMR ofBMR = 66.47 + (13.75 x 71) + (5.0 x 170) – (6.75 x 27) = 66.47 + 976.25 + 850 – 182.25 = 1710.47.Keep in mind that there are many different formulas, all of which are rough approximations of what your BMR will truly be. To that end, adjustments are necessary whether you are trying to cut or bulk. When done properly, an adult male can expect to gain about 0.25 to 1 pound per week, and an adult female can expect to gain 0.25 to 0.5 pounds per week. Falling outside of this range calls for simple adjustments:If you’re gaining more than this, you’re probably eating too much and need to dial it back. Trim 100 to 150 calories from your carbs and/or fats, and see how your body responds over the next 7 to 10 days.If you’re gaining less (next to nothing, basically), then you need to eat more. Add 100 to 150 calories to your protein and/or carbs, and see how your body responds over the next 7 to 10 days. The reverse applies for cutting / weight loss. Good luck!Source: How to count calories - figure it out yourself! - FitnessFlash

Calorie Needs for underweight teen male 17 years old?

Hello,

I am 17 years old.
I am a male.
I weigh about 110 pounds.
I am 5 foot 9 inches.
My BMI is about 16.4. this is considered underweight.

In April, I use to weigh about 122 and was only 5 foot 8 at that point. Since then, I have lost weight and have grown a little bit taller. I want to try to put on some weight to get into a healthier weight range.

I am a very active person. I exercise for 1.5-2 hours per day (often more). This includes at least a full hour of jogging in place a day (calculated to burn 400 more calories), a nightly walk (about 2-3 miles long), I do intense cardio every other day (this means 30+ minutes of running, eliptical trainer, or stationary bike), and on days that I don't do cardio I go to the gym and lift weights for 45-60minutes.
I also burn a lot of calories through non-exercise activities. I have a standing desk in my room and stand whenever possible. This amounts to about 6-12 hours of standing a day. When I am forced to sit (like when at school) I bounce and shake my legs like crazy and tap my foot. Whenever I read books, I pace while reading.

My goal is to gain weight. I want to gain about 1-2 pounds per week. How many calories would this require? Does something like 3000-3500 calories a day sound right? Or since I'm underweight should I just eat and not worry about the number of calories? (Quality of food is NOT an issue with me. I eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean meats, dairy, and nuts. I don't eat sweets, junk food or fast foot. I only eat healthy foods).

Any advice on calorie count would be very helpful. Thanks.
