How Many Treatments Needed To Get Rid Of Head Lice On Boy

Does rid lice treatment ruin your hair?

No, but they're also TOXIC, and should be wash like normal shampoo, but you need LICE COMB also.
When the combing begins, strand after strand, the lice ending up on a paper towel. Lice don't live for very long once they're picked off their host's hair.

How often can you treat a child for head lice?

Okay, relax and stop washing everything. Their pillowcases YES but not the rest, they cannot survive off the body too long and you are making more work for yourself ( they survive only a few hours all studies show. Look at the link for proof. Towards the end shows a study of children and their classrooms , 1000's on the kids heads, none at all in the carpets etc. in the classroom. That you have to wash everything is just a myth). You must be missing some of the eggs if their are more eggs. Treat every 7 days and go through single strand at a time if you have to. My daughter and son have had it once. My son it was two treatments (normal) and done. My daughter has blonde curly hair, it was a nightmare I did 4-5 treatments because I would miss one egg. After you do it put the comb and brushes in water for at least 1 hr to drown any in the brush. I like you spent hours doing it. It is believed they possibly bury just below the hair line so the treatments don't get them and then as the hair grows out there they are again. Try using a natural product rather than a chemical. I changed brands for the 3rd and 4th (maybe 5th if I did it, it was a year ago) and the new brand worked. Somebrands the lice have built up a tolerance to. (I am scratching my head while I type, always happens when someone says headlice lol) If you are in Australia then look for Fried Lice. It worked brilliantly. Go through with the fine metal comb then go through picking out the eggs. Repeat every 7 days till it's gone. Put on a dvd while you do it, they sit still a lot better (kids not lice lol)

here is a great site to look out. It explains all.

What is the very best treatment for head lice?

The best nit and head lice treatments - are you wasting money on expensive treatments that don't work? Find out about the most effective treatments.   1. CombingYou can use a nit comb to detect lice in the hair, and to get rid of an infestation. It's one of the cheapest nit treatments available – basic nit combs start at around £1.30 – and is easy to use. You simply cover the infected hair in conditioner (so the lice will lose their grip) and comb through, starting at the roots and going all the way to the tips. After each stroke, check the comb and clean it on a tissue to see if there are any lice on it. You need to comb the hair for at least 30 minutes and repeat four more times over the following two weeks to ensure all the head lice are removed, and to capture any head lice that may hatch between combing sessions. A general rule is to continue combing until you haven't seen any full-grown lice for three sessions.  This treatment is quite time-consuming. And, depending on your child and their hair type, it may be tricky trying to keep them still long enough to do a thorough job.   2. Synthetic chemical insecticidesInsecticide products, typically sold in chemists, contain chemicals designed to kill head lice by various methods. Some poison the lice, while others will paralyse their nervous systems. You should use this type of head lice treatment only if you have found a live head louse in the hair, rather than as a preventative measure because you've received notification of an outbreak at your child's school. This is because the product can build up on the scalp, exposing the head lice to a non-lethal dose – which means lice can become resistant, and the product will no longer work when your child actually gets infected.  3. Natural and herbal products, and essential oilsNatural and herbal remedies include products such as tea tree oil or green tea shampoo. Some remedies involve mixing, say, tea tree oil to a specific ratio. Depending on what you use, the smell can be very strong and you need to be careful to get the ratio right.  Alternatively, you may visit a Lice Removal Clinic that will help you easily treat lice and nits.

I have had head lice for a year. How do I get rid of them? I have developed some wounds on my head too. I am a teenage girl with long hair.

Use white conditioner.I know it sounds odd, but trust me on this.I had lice for about 2 years. I had wounds all over my scalp. There was scabbing everywhere. I tried every lice shampoo I could find (including using mayonnaise!), even cut my hair short, all to no avail. My mom found an article online about using white conditioner to remove lice, amd finally, something worked!Any conditioner will do; I used Suave coconut conditioner.Put a generous amount in your hair, add a lot. Cover your hair in it. Keep it in your hair for about 30 minutes, comb the conditioner out with a lice comb, then wash your hair. Do this as many times as necessary, and I promise, you'll see results after the first time. The conditioner smothers the lice. Make sure to go through your hair with a lice comb to get the eggs as well. You can also put some tea tree oil in your shampoo, it repels lice and prevents it for the future.

Whats the best way to get rid of nits/head lice in childrens hair?

When I was a kid we had an epidemic of headlice go through our school. My mom tried EVERY over the counter treatment. The only thing that worked was Neutrogena T-gel shampoo and a couple drops of actual tea tree syrum. Apparently it suffoctes the adult lice and kills the nits.
A couple treatments of that-depending on how bad of a case he has-should do the trick.
The T-gel you should be able to get at Wal-mart or a local drug store. The tea tree stuff is available at most health food stores. Pick up a new fine toothed comb to remove the nits and you should be good to go.
(Be advised that the tea tree stuff is STRONG smelling so use it sparingly!)
Hope this helps and good luck!

Does Medicaid insurance cover the cost of head lice treatment?

the doctors used to prescribe a lotion called qwell lotion...it was great at getting rid of them...but now, they wont prescribe it...my daughter had it really bad once, just like your sons...doctor told me to cover her head with vasoline (and i mean the whole dang jar), cover it with a plastic bag overnight...then wash it out (over and over)...i bought the special red combs that walmart carries and combed thru her head in the bath tub...at first, you get a bunch of vasoline each time...takes forever but after a while it gets better, and you have to wash the hair a lot...really makes it shiny and healthy after you get over the nightmare washing and combing...and of course, get the spray stuff and wash EVERYTHING, and dont forget to spray the car down too...hope this helps....good luck...:)

Is head shaving the most effective treatment for human head lice?

Hi, The Dublin Lice Nanny here. Happy to answer this question and offer my advice. While shaving the head (it must be completely bald..even 1/4 “ of hair is enough for lice) is certainly an option, it’s not necessary and would surely be very traumatic for many people, especially little girls. You don’t have to go to those extremes. Here is one of the best methods for eliminating lice:Very few, if any, over-the-counter products actually kill the eggs/nits. Most of them claim to, but this has been disproven in scientific labs. So, your best bet is to interrupt the life cycle by performing several treatments spread across 7-9 days. This will kill all the adult lice and any newly hatched bugs. The best way to do this is using the Nuvo method. Here is my advice:1. Get the Terminator nit comb (amazon or ulta beauty)2. Buy (2) 20 oz bottles of Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser (there are other types, you need this one)3. Buy a plastic catsup squeeze bottle4. Round up everyone in your house and gather a few white towels. Squeeze a fair amount of cetaphil into their hair and comb through with a regular comb to remove tangles. Then take your Terminator comb and comb through all of their hair starting from right up against the scalp. After each swipe, wipe the comb on the white towel. If you see tiny specs that look like pepper, those are nits/eggs. This means they need to be treated and have lice laying eggs. (The only exception would be if you have recently treated using a reliable method to treat lice. If you are certain you have killed the bugs, then the nits might be harmless)5. Once you determine who has lice, proceed with treating them through the Nuvo method. http://nuvoforheadlice.com/test/. If you follow all directions, you will be rid of the lice! I have used this method on hundreds of people, and it never fails. You must follow ALL directions and perform 2 additional treatments. For more information on the lice life cycle and what does and DOES NOT kill lice, please visit my blog: www.TheDublinLiceNanny.comLice is easy to get rid of, if you use the right method. Rid and Nix are no longer effective in killing lice, so save your money and go straight to the Nuvo method!

Head Lice at Daycare Centers?

Head lice don't survive because they are on human hair, they survive because they are on human skin where they can feed on blood from their host. This is their only supply of food and moisture.

Treating the house and toys for head lice is a piece of nonsense. If you check the medical journals for evidence of HEAD lice in the environment you won't find any at all. All the washing and scrubbing and bagging up toys is copied from a single paragraph on th CDC web site but it is not supported by any evidence whatsoever.

James Cook University tried to find head lice on the floors of schools known to be riddled with head lice and found ZERO on the floors and over 7000 on the children.

There isn't some instant cure from the doctor. You need to simple remove head lice and their eggs gently and persistently from the hair and it will stop.

The repeated cases of head lice described here are in fact the same one not being cleared up 100% and it take 2-3 weeks before the numbers rise again and you think they are back. The never left completely.

I have put a couple of references below.
