How Many Yrs I Have To Study Train To Be A Doctor Physician

What do physicians study?

Well depends on their specialty:

Anesthesiologists - An anesthesiologist is the one who 'puts you out' for surgery and who monitors the patient's vitals.

Dermatologists - If you have a skin problem, go see a dermatologist. As a dermatologist you'll diagnose and treat things like psoriasis, eczema, skin cancer, scabies, and acne.

Emergency Medicine Doctors - If you have ever watched the television show ER, then you have a rough idea as to what emergency medicine doctors do. They work in a hospital's emergency room, responding to myriad medical conditions.

Family Practice Doctors or General Practitioners - As a family doctor you'll have regular patients, whole families, who see you for referrals to specialists, for sprained ankles, skin problems, you name it.

Neurologists - If the brain and central nervous system are fascinating to you, then become a neurologist. In this field you may be treating spinal cord injuries or deep brain injuries.

Obstetricians/Gynecologists - As an OB/GYN you could work in a hospital, private practice, or both. Your patients will be women. Every day you will be consulting on pregnancies and childbirth related issues as well as other women's healthcare issues.

Oncologists - Treating cancer is what an oncologist does. Oncologists may end up specializing in the treatment of specific cancers.

Pediatricians - Do you like working with and being around kids? If so, then become a pediatrician. It's a very rewarding job, and you'll often have a steady, devoted clientele.

Plastic Surgeons - Are you the next Dr. 90210? As a plastic or cosmetic surgeon your job will be extremely varied, from doing breast augmentations and facelifts to helping burn victims.

Psychiatry - Unlike psychologists, a psychiatrist is a medical doctor who has graduated from medical school and can prescribe medications. You will be working with people who suffer from a variety of mental illnesses, and could be located in a hospital's psychiatric ward or in private practice, or both.

Urologists - Ah, the dreaded bladder infection! Time to go see your family doctor, who might refer you to a urologist, a type of doctor specializing in ailments related to the urinary tract.

I want to become a general (family) doctor. How many years of college do I need?

Hi. To become a medical doctor, you will need to earn a bachelor of science degree (4 yrs.) studying biology, chemistry, biochemistry, physics, mathematics, in addition to general education requirements (English, language, humanities, etc.). Upon successful completion, you will study and take the GMAT. Then you will apply to medical school. Competition is fierce, and some friends of mine who were top-notch students had to apply more than once before they were accepted. Letters of recommendation, grades/test scores, and extracurricular activities showing leadership abilities are heavily weighted.

In biology courses, you will dissect a fetal pig. In medical school, students dissect a human corpse, and attend three autopsies.

Needless to say, it takes perserverence, intelligence, compassion, dedication, high energy, and commitment (among other things) to become a doctor. Medical school is four years, followed by one year of internship, two year residency, and that's just to become a generalized medical doctor. Specialists continue their course of studies for an additional four to eight years beyond residency.

Medical school tuition is expensive, however successful medical doctors earn high salaries. Salary depends upon your years of experience, location, whether you choose to work in private practice or government/state hospital, etc.

I highly recommend you meet with a career counselor at your university to help you explore all of your career options. You obviously have a desire to help people, and there are many careers to choose from. S/He is very helpful, and their services are free. Best wishes.

How long does it take to become a doctor in india?

The Primary MBBS degree is 4.5 yrs

Then there is compulsory internship of 1 yr.

You are now a "doctor", but you're basically nowhere without any specializaton.
You have to give another exam for studying your MD, and depending on the field you choose (e.g say u pick dermatology or ortho, you don't have to study further, but if you go into something like General Medicine, you'll most probably want to study for your DM or any other equivalent next)

So, heres the bottomline:

MBBS+internship: 4.5 + 1 yr
MD: 3 yrs
DM: 2 to 3 yrs depending on the super-specialization

Roughly a good ten yrs of your life :)

Are Dentists Medical Doctors?

While you have received a number of explanations, some "far" more in depth than the rest, the fact remains that Dentist "Do Not" receive the broad education nor the depth required of medical students. While dentistry does have it's specialties and many require post graduate training to achieve recognition as a specialist in that field, the overall courses of education required of medical student are vastly far more reaching. Example, an Oral Surgeon can achieve a license to practice surgery in six years. On the other hand a Neurosurgeon will spend twelve years in specialized training before being recognized as a Neurosurgeon. Dental students have fine adequate training in overall dental practice and procedures...except for "prosthetics", (hands on training for making of dental appliances) dental schools dropped that required education for dental students back in the mid 1950's. Dental schools employee dental technicians to create dental appliances for the schools Out Patient Clinic for dental students to provide the clinics patients. Today's "experts" in creating dental appliances are Denturist's and Dental Technicians...which Dentirist's are both all in one.
