How Much Are The Toll Roads From Nyc To St. Louis Mo

Whats the longest route for route 66?

Route 66 originally went from Illinois to California. Although the route has been replaced by our Interstate highway system, much of the original route is still used today. Virtually all of the original route is accessible, with a few exceptions in the west, where interstate 40 cut off access and the original roadbed has deteriorated form disuse and lack of maintenence.

How do you plan a road trip?

One of you should have a AAA membership. See if you can add on to your parents or somebody to make it cheaper.
A good investment is a GPS - shows you gas stations, restaurants and places to visit along the route. Again, if you're several people, one of you might know somebody...
And plan for road tolls in the east - if you use a GPS, it can find roads avoiding tolls... otherwise NYC to Chicago is about $15-20.

Get together and make a list, where everybody adds 2 places he wants to see - that gives you a rough route. Then print a map (online) and mark those destinations on it... done.

Expect to drive about 500 miles a day and see where you would like to sleep: camping, motels?
That sets your expenses.
Plus $15 for food for each per day - you might need less, but that's easier to do then getting more...

cost:
AAA $100
GPS $150
tolls $20
motels 10x$50
food 3?x10x$15

...brings your cost for a 10-day-trip to about $1300 for 3 people.

What are the best ways to get from St. Louis, MO to Orlando, FL?

Much depends on your travel orientation, but for the shortest duration of travel the Interstates are clearly your best bet. From St. Louis, pick up I-24 and follow it until you merge with I-75. Once on I-75, follow it until you exit to Florida's Turnpike (a toll road) clearly marked just south of Ocala, Florida.Honestly, more scenic routes aren't recommended. Once you get into the southern states the highways and roads tend to be in frankly awful repair, which will be murder on your car's tires and suspension, to say nothing of your kidneys. (For some reason I can't move to a new paragraph with this site's software... sorry.) Be advised, once you leave northern Georgia on I-75, , the scenery becomes flat and very dull for hundreds of miles. If your destination is the downtown city of Orlando, take the 408 exit - also a toll road - from the Turnpike, which will you take into the city center. Avoid the I-4 exit at all costs. I-4 could be properly described as "the world's longest parking lot" going east into the city. If you're looking for hotels close to Disney World and Universal Studios, however, do take I-4 WEST (toward Tampa), and watch the exit signs for hotels and restaurants. Hope this helps, and happy travels!

Is it safe to drive from Texas to Mexico City? Are there roads that you should or shouldn't use to cross the border, due to blockages, etc?

Howdy there!!I've driven the round trip a couple times, and yes, it's quite fun, and in my case, it makes me think a lot about history. Incredible how Spaniards came to the land and saw it vast and empty, the march that Mexican armies had to make crossing the desert to defend Texas... I would advise not to drive at night: in the north border because of possibility of crime; and further inland because some of the non-toll roads can be in bad shape: lack of proper road signals, stray people or animals, unmarked speed bumps, lots of truckers... So you have to drive relativy slow... The part around Zacatecas I remember particularly difficult because of this. But mainly during the day you can enjoy the sceneries. Also, toll roads are amazing and you can drive them at any time if the day. Furthermore, I've always crossed through nuevo Laredo, but maybe it's best if you try an alternate crossing so you can skip the town traffic. Don't forget to do all the Mexican paperwork at the border: register your car with customs, stamp your passports, and pay the tourist tax, and be sure to have Mexican insurance. If you have any trouble call 078 for tourist assistance. 066 for police. Both numbers are nationwide. Perhaps get a Mexican sim card with telcel. They have good road coverage just in case you need to call AAA. Toll roads have those services included and phone booths every x number of kilometers.

Is it possible to avoid tolls ?

I love when people don't have a clue about what they are talking about.

Every bridge going across the Delaware River from New Jersey to Pennsylvania has tolls, except one. The Scudder Falls Bridge which crosses on I-95 north of Trenton is toll free. The problem is that you could spend more in gas than you save in tolls to get there. So you may just want to look for one with a lesser toll.

Betsy Ross, Ben Franklin, Walt Whitman, Commodore Barry are all $5. The Tacony Palmyra Bridge which isn't that far upriver from Betsy Ross is only $2. Burlington-Bristol is only $2. If you get on the NJ Tpke at Route 130 come across the bridge and get off at the first exit in PA, you can get across for $1.95 (but you have to pay to go back to NJ if you use this route. All other bridges don't charge to go from PA-NJ.

Can Google Maps calculate my toll costs?

Google maps does not support this at this time. Clearly, as Google provides information such as the timings of public transport, it could technically support this feature to at least provide an estimate of the charges. Perhaps in the future google will or it may be a feature provided by a competitor.

What are the toll costs when driving from Minneapolis to Chicago?

It’s 5.45 if you have an I-pass or 10.90 if you pay with the cash. I calculated it using MSP airport as origin and ORD as destination. You can download this app - TollGuru, it is very helpful in calculating the tolls from any origin to any destination in US.Hope it helps.

If you set your Google maps to avoid all toll lanes, is it possible to avoid them when driving in Tampa Bay area (Clearwater, St. Pete’s beach, Treasure Island, Busch Garden)? I was told to get their local version of a toll pass when I visit.

One does not have to pay a toll to get around in the Tampa Bay area. If you set your GPS to avoid tolls, there is always a route — it may not be as fast, but you can get there.
