How Much Does Medi-weight Loss Program Cost

Will Texas Medicaid pay for gastric bypass/weight loss surgery?

Try Parkland Hospital Weight Loss Program. Parkland does take Medicaid. You have to meet certain criteria. It may take a while to get in and I think JPS has a program also. Methodist Medical Center has a weight loss program (I don't know what it takes but the hospital itself takes Medicaid) Also, try your PCP, that would be a good place to start. I had Medicare and I had surgery 4-16-08. So good luck on your journey...

How much weight can I lose from walking 2 miles 5 days a week for a month?

Walking 2 miles a week may help you lose some weight in the beginning.Calories burnt by walking - 5 x 30 x 5 = 750 calories. This will help lose 400 grams in a month. However the following walking for weight lose could be better optionWalking to Lose WeightWalking burns 5 calories per minute. There are 1440 minutes in 24 hours.Average calorie consumption is 2500 for a person looking to lose weight.Calories are produced during cellular metabolic process. By exercising or increasing the burning of calories we cannot increase the production of calories during cellular metabolic process substantially. We can at best expect small changes.Calories are used by vital organs and vital processes of the body AND for physical exercises and movements. So if we start spending too much calories all of sudden on exercises there will be shortfall of calories in the body. This will be made good by restricting the calories required by vital organs. So if you keep running for hours we may die in few seconds. But there are defence mechanisms in the body which ensure that we do not run that long which can kill us.Walking for 5 minutes every hour (Around 10 times in a day) will burn 5x5x10 = 250 calories in a day.Resting Metabolic Rate was 2500/1440 x 50 = 87 calories.Net Calorie loss is 250 - 87 = 163.This is less than 7% of average calories that are consumed by a person looking to lose weight. This extra burden can be shared by increase in cellular metabolic rate within few days. How do a person feels by walking for such a short period of time.More alert, full of energy etc. This is indicative of increase in Resting Metabolic Rate. That would mean there will be extra calorie burning without an exercise, if that extra burden can be shared by cellular metabolism. So if a person keeps walking he is quite likely to increase his Resting Metabolic Rate. But if a person walks for 1 or 2 hours at a time, the extra calorie burning will be 60 x 5 or 10 = 300 or 600 calories. That will be difficult to shift this extra burden on cellular metabolism. So the body will save some calories meant for vital organs. That will cause deterioration of vital organs.Walking 2 to 5 minutes every hours means sure weight loss. The chances of regaining this lost weight will also be minimum because there is increasing in Resting Metabolic Rate. So even if you stop walking you will not gain any weight.

Is "coolsculpting" a viable and effective method to achieve weight loss? What are the pros and cons?

1st realize that Coolsculpting takes 2 to 4 months to see the results of each treatment and you might need 2 or three. Also realize you are only killing fat cells so if you are successful you will have more loose skin. It does not affect the all important collagen layer like radio frequency treatments like Thermage, Exilis, or Vanquish. You will now need another treatment for the loose skin created by the fat loss. Even doctors that offer Coolsculpting offer Thermage or Exilis for the loose skin. But consider you could have chosen Thermage in the first place (like the Hollywood elite does) knocked off a few inches , and as a side effect have tighter smoother skin vs more loose skin. Also why is the Coolsculpting advertising budget $50 million a year vs relatively zero for Thermage and Exilis. Finally in the rare possibility that your nerves organs or skin are frozen you would require surgical intervention. As a busy NY practice we could easily bring in a million or two if we offered Coolsculpting. But it is the opinion of our medical director that the risks are too great for her patients. The basis of the procedure is that fat will freeze before healthy skin. The same way that the fat cells are killed is putting your healthy cells at risk. Read reviews carefully look at the before and afters. Know that everyone only shows the absolute one in a million best result. Go to doctors that have been performing the procedure you are interested in for at least 5 or 7 years. Use the physician locator to find who has the most experience but avoid the factory set up. Look at the credentials of the medical director. Is he or she a plastic surgeon or a “johnny come lately” foot doctor or some other irrelevant specialty that just got into the business recently for the money and hasn't really studied every machine on the market both here and in europe. Doctors who have been doing this for a while usually have a few machines that are better at specific conditions. The non surgical world isn't new. Thermage came out in 2001. So many top doctors have acquired and offer 3 or four different technologies in the past 10 years. What is new is Coolsculptings approach. They are a multibillion dollar Wall Street firm that advertises directly to the public with a budget the size of the biggest retailers like Ralph Lauren.
