How Much Does The Suzumiya Haruhi Anime Cover From The Light Novel

How much does the suzumiya haruhi anime cover from the light novel?

4 volumes.

Haruhi Suzumiya light novels and Manga?

I notice that there's Haruhi Suzumiya Light Novels and Manga, what's the difference? Is there a difference or are they just different ways of saying the same thing? When I hear 'novel' I think words on a page, no pictures. And the Wikipedia page listing the novels said 'Illustrated by so and so', and now I'm a bit confused. If they're novels, why would they be illustrated?

I got an indigo gift card for Christmas (yay!!) and I'm planning on spending it on the novel's, but I can't tell which is which! On the Indigo site, if you search Haruhi Suzumiya, there's a whole bunch of different covers and books! I can't tell which is which. Like, is the Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya the same as Volume X of the manga? Should I just get the Manga instead of the novels?

If someone could explain to be the difference, that would be great! Sometimes I feel like such an airhead for not knowing.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya: Manga, light Novel, or both?

Firstly, the light novel comes out April first.

Secondly: Light novel is MUCH better than the manga. The anime is better than the manga. Firstly, the manga has an ugly art style. Secondly, it doesn't really follow any plot.

The light novel is good if you like reading long, pointless comments from Kyon, because this is told from his perspective. Also, be prepared to wait for the other eleven books to come out.

Edit:

Yes, the release date IS technically in April. See: http://www.borders.com/online/store/Titl...

Your friend either had an illegal copy or you're getting your dates mixed up. Unless you're talking about the manga, which WAS in bookstores in February.

Which novels about Suzumiya Haruhi is covered in the anime seasons and the movie?

The second season is an unbearable waste of time. I watched it as it aired, and waited anxiously for a week between episodes. What I watched was the most painstaking 4 hours of television (8 episodes, 8 weeks) I've ever seen. The reason: a story arc called Endless Eight. Mild spoilers ahead.Endless Eight is about a period at the end of the summer in which Haruhi subconsciously wishes summer will never end. Haruhi, in all her supernatural glory, manages to literally cause summer to never end by the power of sheer will. Amazing, in theory, but what ends up happening is the 14 days preceding the start of school end up repeating 15,532 times[1]. What we, the viewers, get to experience is the very same "whirlwind tour of summer activities, from swimming pools to summer festivals, part-time jobs, and bug hunting."[1] with only minor changes in plot and varying cinematic flare EIGHT EPISODES IN A ROW. A total bummer. A total waste. Interesting in theory... but... my god.[1] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lis...

Haruhi Suzumiya manga vs novel?

I collect both, but I prefer the Light Novel to the Manga.

The light novel has two different covers (a hard over with the original art and an "American" cover that Yenpress made to help sales in paper back.) So if you are a fan of the original art work the Light Novel could easily cost you more.

If you don't like reading "normal" books, I would get the Manga, if you don't mind either way I would get the Light Novel.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Manga/Anime?

It started with the novels, those will always be furthest along, so in this case the manga isn't directly linked to the show itself, both are spin-offs of the novel series. Personally I'd recommend reading all the novels from the start.

The exception is "The disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan" which is a spin-off manga by manga artist Puyo (not the light novel's author) from the movies alternate time-line. Recently (may 2012) the author of that manga has started another spin-off called " The Intrigue of Itsuki Koizumi".

The anime + movie cover the first 6 or 7 light novels out of 11.

The anime + movie cover roughly the first 9 volumes of the manga, but because the anime and movie are not in strict chronological order, the exact correspondence could get confusing.
(manga chapters share titles with the light novels they correspond to)

There was a short manga which only ran for 5 chapters (illustrated by Makoto Mizuno), then a longer ongoing manga (illustrated by Gaku Tsugano) which covers all the anime material i mentioned.

Regarding the anime series about Haruhi Suzumiya?

I've watched all 28 current (as far as I can tell) episodes of "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" including the "Endless Eight" arc and the arc where they make a movie. Everything laid out plain and simple, I don't know where to go next. It ended with the SOS Brigade going to that cultural festival thane all that junk. The story was left unfinished and promises of further episodes were apparent from how it was aired. The film "The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya" was released later on (thank god, it's was very well done) and it was covering events that happened the days after the cultural festival. So the story continues... but to where? What happens next? As far as the manga goes, the story carries on well past December when the film takes place (almost 4 months of storyline) but I can't find anything about them.
Question: either in the manga or in the anime, where do I go from here. At what chapter in the manga does the story continue from where "The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya" left off? Also, are there any further episodes of the anime that cover the story after the events in the film?

Thanks for the help (in advance) and please be sure to include links to sites where I can read/ watch the series.

What's your opinion on the Haruhi Suzumiya and Angel Beats light novels?

I can't answer the light novel but I watched the Anime. It's so damn... beautiful..I don't know what to say, I can't explain it in one word. No I'm not exaggerating but Angel Beats went deep into my heart. You see the story is just unexpected, at first people might say “nah, story about afterlife WITH GUNS?? That's bullshit.”, but there's a lot more than just it, and people who follow the story to the end will be greatly rewarded.I am a firearm enthusiast so at the first episode I immediately love it firstly because of it, but as the story progress I grew fond to the whole thing, the characters, the school, the beautiful scenery..But as I watched the last episodes I began to cry, I mean I cried A LOT, note that I never a single time cried in real life, but Angel Beats just shot me right through the heart, I just.. so immensed deeply to the story.I know that I might not know much about the more wider story of the Visual Novel but please know that the anime still leave a big mark deep into my heart, so that still counts..P.S. sorry I didn't watch/ read Haruhi Suzumiya, I heard it is so sad and I wanted to avoid it at the time being because.. there's just too much feelings involved, Angel Beats is enough for me..

What anime show is Haruhi Suzumiya from? Is it on Netflix?

The show is called The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, or MOHS for short. In japanese it is called Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu, which means the same thing. It is based on a series of light novels, the first of which shares the TV show's name. There's also a movie, The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya.

What is your opinion on Haruhi Suzumiya?

I like the story but I don’t like her character in the beginning. She bullies Mikuru a lot, which might be more of a fanservice but is disgusting from my point of view. As a girl, despite my annoyance with ‘moe and useless damsels in distress’ I can’t really help but feel sorry for Mikuru. Kyon shouldn’t be as clueless in ‘The Sigh’ because he already knows that Haruhi fancies her in the conclusion of ‘The Melancholy’ — his cluelessness added to Mikuru’s distress overall. But Haruhi grew in the cultural festival and has become more reasonable afterwards until the novel conclusion and I’ve become inclined to think that because we are viewing the story in Kyon’s point-of-view, everything must have been biased from the start — which is why Koizumi is not that trusted while Mikuru is favored and Yuki is always relied upon.Story-wise, it is one of the best time travel stories I’ve read/watched — and the ideals of the three factions clashing is interesting. I even like to think that it really is Kyon who’s the God as he can control Haruhi’s emotional state and he’s just delegating the title to Haruhi to watch his aliens, espers and time travelers flip themselves.
