How Much Homework Is In Freshman Year

How much homework a night do you get during your freshman year of college if you're a science major?

It depends on a variety of factors: your school, how many credits you have brought in, which classes, how many classes and how quickly you learn. My first semester, I took Cell Biology, Chemistry Lab, Physics I, Physics Lab, Bioethics, a Seminar on Cloning, and Advanced Academic Writing. These classes were relatively easy for me as they were introductory level. I spent around six hours a week on Cell Biology, six hours a week on Physics I, two hours a week on Physics Lab, one hour a week on Chemistry Lab, two hours a week on Bioethics, two hours a week on Advanced Academic Writing, and minimal amount of time on the Cloning Seminar. That would be around 20 hours of homework per week, roughly translating to 3 hours of homework a night. My second semester was around the same. That would be around the lower end of time spent on homework - many students report up to 60 hours of homework a week. Overall, use your best judgement and past experiences with homework to determine what the right load is for you. Wishing you the best!

How much homework in freshman year of high school?

The workload really just depends on the vigor of your classes and school. Your classes are pretty much easy, except for physics. Freshman year, I took AP world history, PE, French 3, Biology, Geometry, and English. I think you will be fine. Teachers won't dump a lot of homework on you the first day of school, but it will gradually increase as the school year goes on. Definitely do your homework to prepare yourself for the other years of high school because the workload will definitely skyrocket.

I don't know if your school has free periods or not, but my school does. Free periods are when I finish up my homework, so that I don't have homework after school. This usually helps because I have sports practices after school and I get home at 8 pm, leaving me minimal time to do homework and eat dinner.

In high school, the number of tests and quizzes will definitely increase. Remember to always study and organize your time well. You can do this by keeping a planner in your backpack. I have found organization to be key towards success in high school. You will need it!

Let me give you my freshman year experience. The beginning of the year wasn't that difficult because teachers were still letting freshmans to get accustomed to the high school environment. However, as the school year progressed, I began to have days where I would have two to three hours of homework, sometimes more depending on how many tests or essays I have to write. Some days you will have one test, others, two or four. This is your time to figure out what's your best method of studying. I might sound like a hypocrite, but my experience taught me that you shouldn't cram for tests. You really, really, have to prepare yourself for a test early (two days before).

In high school, you will need to be more independent because teachers won't really remind you to do things like hand in homework assignments or to study.
Some teachers won't even accept late homework, so always hand in your homework assignments on time to avoid getting a zero!

I hope I helped!

How long do/did you take doing homework in your freshman and sophomore year of highschool?

In Canada, we have 5 years of high school. So I am assuming you mean Grade 9 - 10 for America, because we don’t use freshman/sophomore in Canada.Grade 9 I barely did homework. Occasional 1–2 hours to study before a test. 30 minutes daily homework maybe for review, SOMETIMES.Grade 10 similar. Big projects I might procrastinate and pull all-nighters to finish. Maybe 2 hours to study for tests. 45 minutes ish a day to review class notes.I don’t remember my exact average but I had straight A’s with 90%+ averages every year in High School (except this year where I am currently dying in AP Calc)I never spent too much time on homework, and think the same towards striving for the best possible grades. Maybe that’s why I never got academic scholar honours, but I did receive Top All-Around Student honours last year.“You don’t need to be in the top three in your class, being in the middle is fine, so long as your grades aren’t too bad. Only this kind of person has enough free time to learn other skills.” -Jack Ma (Founder of Alibaba)

Two honors classes too hard for freshman year?

Ok, well I am now a Sophomore.

Let me start off by saying: If you are worried about two honors classes in one year... You'll be having panic attacks throughout your other years of high school.

Sure, I know that your worried because there is a transition from middle to high school... But the workload for those classes is nothing. Basically do this to succeed:

1. Focus in class
2. Do your homework
3. Study

That's really it. I got a 4.0 all through Freshman year. You won't be staying up all night doing homework. I think the workload for those classes is about half an hour a night each. That's not very much, considering what you will be taking next year.

I have classes that require two hours of homework per night- AP Physics, AP US History, etc...

I am also in Orchestra. Trust me, if you get good grades taking hard classes looks very good on your college transcript.

All I have to say, is don't be afraid. Anyone can do anything if they really put their mind to it. Be confident because you know that you can do it.

Good luck.

How much homework do high school freshman get every night?

since you have honors and spanish 2 and math id say an average of 2-3 hours a night on homework. but it really depends on the teacher and how well u understand the material. like me, my freshman year i had hardly any homework. the only work id have is math and french 1 every night and the occasional project in any class here and then. i took: la, algebra 1a, french 1, dance, health, and theatre 1.
at my school there are cliques, but we all pretty much got along and excepted eachother for who we were. but thats just my highschool.
make sure to wear new, fashionable clothes. wear skinny jeans and a fashionable top with some jewelry. if ur a girll wear make up. wear at leasat mascara and a little black eye liner.
in order to do good in cheer u HAVE to do good in school. my school.. u had to have at least a 2.5 or 3.0 GPA depending on the sport or activity or ull get kicked off. make sure to have a schedual. like right when u get home from cheer practice/school then chill for about 40 minutes at home then do homework until dinner then finish ur homework and study for any tests for about 40 minutes in all.
be confident but not stuck up or they'll think ur a b*tch. but dont be too lonerish or they'll think ura loser. but also be urself because ur friends r the ppl who r gonna be hangin with u the rest of highschool. make sure to mingle and talk and get to know ppl. smile a lot but not too creepy. lol
i hope u have a great 1st year of highschool!

-good luck!

How hard is the freshman year of high school and how much homework do you get if you are in all AP classes?

For me, freshman year was kind of challenging because I was taking honors geometry which caused me a lot of stress. If only I knew what junior year would do to me.Anyways, ALL AP CLASSES? That’s a lot of work. I have taken AP Psych, AP English Lit in junior year and now that it’s my senior year I’m taking AP Stats and AP Macroeconomics. Last year those AP classes already were so much work. However, AP Stats and Macro are not bad at all. It just depends on your school and your teachers. If you have good teachers who will guide you through everything, give you good resources and are patient with you, you’ll definitely have an easier time than someone who doesn’t. Also if your teacher is nice they might give you less assignments and more extra credit lol.

How much homework do High School Freshmen get each night?

Probably not a lot. You'll be bombarded with Geometry homework each night most likely, but the course is ridiculously easy. History and English might require some reading, and Bio as well. I would estimate around an hour each night, assuming you don't procrastinate or slack off. Have fun in high school!

Do freshmen get a lot of homework (high school freshman)?

alrighttt , so its time to go to high school ( oh nooo >.<)
i believe im going to be in AP classes for everything, maybe even spanish, although i haven't gotten a reply for that yet ( the office is working on it)

as a mandatory ARTS program i will be taking dance and on the sideline as an extra im going to be on JV volleyball.

By the time i get home im afraid it will be 7 pm :( I'm not sure if i will be able to keep this up. I honestly want to be done by 10. So i can sleep by 11 ( shower, brush teeth, wash face, & a little tv + computer relax time) I have to wake up at 6 am so i should probably go sleep at 10.... oh well :[

can i manage? oh please help, i will appreciate it so much!

p.s. volleyball is everyday, and sometimes saturdays. PLUS i have regents sometime in the year ( a bit to early to start worrying but i do indeed worry too much)...... fantastic more to stress about -.-

How much homework do you get in AP classes?

I live in NY, and I think NY and Cali are kinda the same when it comes to the school systems. when I was in High school (2 years ago), I took 3 AP classes my senior year. It wasn't all that bad. It was challenging though.

I would say I spent maybe an 1.5-2 hours on each subject. However, that was only if I had no studying/papers. If I had studying and papers maybe like 3.5 hours on each AP class. I didn't always have homework every night. They tend to give you a whole bunch at one time..

When I was a freshman, AP classes weren't offered, but I would expect the same amount maybe a little less.

I got signed up for all honors classes in my freshman year of high school. Is this too much of a workload for me as a student in a new place with loads of homework?

Freshman year is pretty easy, and it’s definitely the easiest year of high school. If you’ve taken honors classes in middle school, you should be completely fine.Make sure you figure out which of your classes (there will probably be one or two) are the hardest for you, and focus on those more. If you pay attention in class and turn things in on time, freshman year will all honors classes will be a breeze.Good Luck!
