How Much Is Baby Insurance

How much is health insurance for a baby?

You cannot purchase child-only insurance. If you qualify for Medicaid, insurance may be free - or - you may have a small monthly premium (in my state the highest premium for Medicaid is $35/month). If you have insurance through an employer, you would have to check with the provider to find out how much it will cost to add a child (some cost nothing... some add hundreds of dollars each month - my insurance adds $150/month to my premium for adding my child to my health insurance). If you two are living on your own and not making a lot of money, then you should first look into your state's health insurance for your child. Good luck to you.

Do I need life insurance for my baby?

I am about to have a baby, and see lots of ads for the Gerber Life Insurance for children, but don't know if I need it. The price seems to be less than what I would have to pay at my job. Is this something I need?

What life insurance should I get? I have a new baby on the way and a few mortgages.

When shopping for life insurance, you have a few decisions to make: what kind of policy to purchase (term vs. whole?), how much coverage you need, and finally, which company to apply with.Term vs. whole? Term life insurance is “pure” insurance that lasts for a set term (20, 25, or 30 years, usually). Term is the right product for most people. Whole life is permanent insurance (you pay until you die) that incorporates a cash value, but can also be 6 to 10x as expensive as term. A life insurance calculator can help you decide how much life insurance you need — it will take into account your current income, debts including your mortgages, and assets, as well as future financial responsibilities (like childcare and schooling for your child). How much does it cost to have a baby in the U.S. without insurance?

I did a bit of comparison: going back about 5 years a baby born at a birthing center with midwives ran about $2500, and at a hospital with caesarian and complications about $25,000 and the prices have increased since them . And, I have heard that in the US with severe complications that deliveries are well over $100,000.  My time in Mexico has been interesting - and there are specialty hospitals just for giving birth everywhere. 7 Years ago I saw one in Queretaro, a large city in Mexico with over 2 million people advertising that a normal delivery began at $4,000 pesos - at that time around $300.  And I've been told that a complex C-section would be about $50,000 pesos, or at the time around $4,000.  Giving birth is not a big complex issue here as doctors are amazingly specialized, put the mothers are ease and the birth process is not long or hard in most cases. Today the costs have gone up a little but there is absolutely no cost if you are in the gov't healthcare systems - IMSS, Seguro Popular, ISSTE etc. or the military.  But, due to the hospitals specializing and doing births only, not everything from emergencies to cancer, the costs are very, very low, the quality is very, very high - and the struggle to deliver is minimize.  On average I would say that it costs 15-20% of the cost in the US to deliver. Time in the hospital is minimized, and you will find that about 90-95% of the mothers breast feed and the children do not get anywhere near as ill during life as in the US due to this.  All in all, healthcare in Mexico is either a bargain, or free - and well worth utilizing.

How much does it cost to have a baby without insurance?

It depends if you use a midwife or physician, deliver at home, a birthing center, or a hospital. Usually the cost of a natural delivery in a hospital birthing room, for 48 hours is about $3-4000 That doesn't include the doctor fee for delivery. Mine charged $1500 for prenatal care and natural delivery. He charged $2200 for c-section. That also depends on where you live. A c-section for a 3 day stay is about $7000-10,000 depending on complications, etc. A baby in the regular nursery will cost about $1000 depending on labs, pediatrician visits, etc. Thank heavens we had insurance!

Don't know why the thumbs down. I am a nurse and know what the charges are. I personally have put charges for our department in the computer from someone's visit. (we had no clerk)

My middle son was in NICU for RDS and it was $3000 a day just to be in the hospital with all the meds and equipment. That didn't include radiology, lab, or doctor visits.

How much is a Gerber Life Insurance policy worth if you cash it in after 21 years?

I'm asking because my grandmother just got a letter saying something about it turning over to me because I'm 21, and she thought if I could get anything for it I should take it. My grandparents did not get the policy out on me because they "expected me to die", but becasue they thought it would give be a head start one day
They do not have life insurance on themselves, but I don't see how that has any bearing on this
