How Much Protien Intake Do I Need

How much Protein do I need daily?

You cannot receive an answer formed for your needs with just this information. You need to throw out your weight in lbs and/or kilos, and also how long you have been working out.I read an article the other day about some vegan who ate about 80 grams of protein a day, and he weighed 243 lbs when he was writing that article. He trained for strength. The myth that you need 1 gram to lb of body weight was a myth that was tossed around way early in days of fitness, when they didn't know anywhere near as much as they do now about fitness.... Old mythologies of fitness stick around because they aren't funded to be dis-proven, and when they are dis-proven, you have brands like MuscleTech and Optimum Nutrition who speak otherwise to get you to use their product. If you actually think you need 1 gram per lb of body weight, as the 'top contributor' above me pointed out, consider this..... Gorillas are mostly vegan by diet, save insects, and they don't eat 1 gram protein per pound of body weight, and they are one of the largest animals of their habitat. Amino Acids are complicated. Recent studies have shown for some time now that to gain weight, you need to increase calorie intake, not necessarily increase protein intake. Besides, your body makes protein on its own, in accordance with your diet. Whoever pointed out 80% of your body weight , converted from lbs to grams... That's a safe start, but is unnecessary if you have been working out for years....

How much protein do you need to build muscle.?

I weigh about 195 pounds. I hear that th general rule is that you should get 1g of protein per pound, which would equal to about 190 grams of protein. This seems like a lot for me, and very expensive! I currently get about 100 grams per day, I'm trying to build muscl.e

How many grams of protein do you need to consume to be able to bench press 200 pounds?

There really is no correlation between how much protein you intake daily and how much you can bench press.
If you are training for strenght.....doing reps of between 3 to 5 per set....then you ARE going to want to be consuming your bodyweight x 1.25 = the number of grams of protein you need daily.
While the protein will provide your muscles with what they need to get stronger (and bigger) during training, there is no immediate effect. So if you have 300 grams of protein today and only had 150 grams yesterday, your bench press amount is NOT going to increase just because you ate a lot of protein.

How much protein should I have a day?

there is no use for that much protein your body cant digest it all you s h i t more of it out than your body is processing. most people will tell you 1 gram for every lb you weigh but even this is too much for the average person. because you are just starting of you should only be taking in 75-100 grams of protein then as you get bigger slowly increase your protein intake right now your body isn't even using that protein. a 200 lb man needs 70 grams of protein to maintain his muscle mass and 200 grams to highly increase mass. you just started you will destroy your liver and your toilet with that much protein
