How Much Would I Need To Make A Month To Afford $800 Rent

How much would I need to make a month to afford $800 rent?

My girlfriend and I are looking at moving in together. I am a Junior in college and she is a Sophomore and we both live at home still but would like to move out. I currently work at Starbucks and got offered a promotion to become a shift manager. We found an apartment we love and it costs $800 a month for rent. We both don't have car payments or other bills to currently pay. How much would we need to bring in a month to afford rent?

What monthly income would I need to afford a rent of $700-800 a month in New York city?

If you can find such a miracle, it will take an income of a couple of a thousand dollars after tax to pay for such a marvel. Presumably, you already know you will be sharing the place unless you can luck into a unicorn like a Mitchell Lama or the rent controlled place of a person who died in place after thirty years or more in the apartment. Rents of a couple a thousand are more usual today, and that for a one-bedroom.So, if you can score the super cheap place, 25K/year should do it.

What monthly income would I need to afford a rent of $700-800 a month in Boston?

For reference, in college I lived in a 1500 sf, 4 bedroom apartment with 7 girls, in Mission Hill (not exactly the nicest location) and we each paid $700 for rent. My friends had 4 boys in a 4 bedroom, each paying $1000 So on an $800 budget, brace yourself to be living with some combination of less than perfect location, too many people, tiny/ shared room.Otherwise this question isn’t really Boston-specific. As a ballpark, your rent shouldn’t be more than 1/3 of your income. But a better way to figure this out is to make a spreadsheet with all the stuff you anticipate paying every month and compare that to what you’re bringing in monthly. My budget sheet includes my car payment/ insurance, student loan, phone bill, savings, a food stipend, an entertainment stipend, and a “misc” stipend. Then when I subtract that out of what I bring in every month, that leaves me with the absolute maximum I can spend on rent and utilities without any wiggle room for emergencies.I don’t know what other expenses you have, but I make about $3,000 per month, and my rent is $800 and I’m living totally comfortably, so use that as a reference and calibrate accordingly.

What monthly income would I need to afford a rent of $1000–1200 a month in San Francisco?

Unless you are sharing a residence with others, living in either subsidized housing or an SRO, $700~800 per month rent is not realistic.A rule of budgeting (so I ’ve heard) is to plan on rent being 1/4 to 1/3 household living expenses however in San Francisco the rents are much higher than other cities , So in order to live in your own place with a rental of 1800 per month, you would have to be earning 3800 to 4000 per month minimum.

Can my mother and I afford $800 per month rent?

Okay, I worked full time (10.50) and I get paid bi weekly. I get about $720 net income (bi weekly)

My mother get her income from disability and SSI, only 753 dollars per month. If we combine our income it will be 2,203 dollars.

But according to the landlord, our income should be at least 2x the amount of general indebtedness.

Can I afford it?

Can i afford $800 rent?!?!?

Take 15 x 40 x 4 = $2,400 x 12 = 28800 (annual baseline)

Federal tax = 28800 less standard deduction of 9500. So you are taxed on 19300 = $2474
Estimated State tax 2.5% = (28800 x .025) = 720
Estimated local tax 3.5% = (28800 x .035 ) =1008
Total estimated annual tax = 4202
Leaving = $24,598
Divide by 12 = $2050 (rounded)

less $70 (phone)
less $100 (electric)
less $65 (cable)
less $65 (Internet)
less $800 (rent)
less $400 (food)
----------------------
= $550

All of this is estimated. As far as living comfortable or tight on money no one can no that there's too many variables. That $550 per month is a very small buffer.

Can I afford an $800 rent?

yes, but it's going to be a little tight. generally the rule of thumb is 1/3 or 1/4 of your take home income should go towards housing costs. keep in mind you'll also have costs for utilities, food, and overall living expenses. If you're really frugal, you'd be able to afford it, but it's difficult.

How much money would I have to make in a year to afford $900 monthly rent?

I am currently a senior in high school and would prefer to rent an apartment rather than live on campus and dorm. How much would I have to make per week, or year to be able to afford $800-$1000 rent comfortably? This would include utilities such as gas, heat, water, etc. Besides the rent I would also have to be responsible for groceries and other necessities. I will be sharing the apartment with someone who will also have a job, so approximately how much would we need either as individuals, or together, to afford an apartment in this price range? Please and thank you.

How much can i afford to pay in rent?

your rental expense should only be 50% of what you make a month! Anything above that is risky! 40% is even better! Trust me I know from experience. Don't worry about what others pay for their places, you don't know how much they make or how they budget other things in life. Really you have to base it on yourself! How much do you spend on leisure because really that will never change, be honest with yourself! How much will you spend on groceries, are you good at conserving energy, how much do you spend on gas, and how much will water and trash and things of that sort cost you! These are all serious things to consider and will help you figure out how much you really have left for rental expenses!
