Can a cop wear Jordans with their uniform?

I worked for a Police Department of a 100 Officers. This department was all over the map when it came to the patrol uniform standards. We could only wear a Class A uniform with clarino (shiny) duty belt, however the males could have pony tails, beards up to an inch in length, and wear non-dangling earrings. Shoes were to be “all black” with no other guidance. I was a big fan of Merrell shoes at the time. I had the two pairs below each lasting two years of very busy patrol activity. To meet the “all black” requirement I either would color over the non-black areas with a sharpie or use black fabric spray paint.At this department you could easily take any black based Jordan and do the same. The main problem would be traction in mud or walking up a slick grassy steep hill.I eventually went to a better department with its own strange uniform policy that allowed a mix mash of class B uniforms and outer vest carriers with a nylon duty belt, but a strict hair and facial hair policy. Shoes are required to have a “shineable toe” but don’t have to be shined normally. These Cam Newton UA’s were the best in the summer and could be shined enough if the staff really wanted me to prove it:I should have bought ten pairs because they are discontinued now. I have got to the point where I was tired of the toes being beat up on my other “shinable” boots so I went to these, the UA Infil. The rubber toe cap could hold a shine for a time if I worked at it diligently or coated the toe with a liquid toe shine/protector product.Lastly, if you still really want to wear a Jordan on patrol wait for the blackout 11 to drop. Still no traction and almost blasphemy to destroy such a beautiful shoe doing police work. However many of the mopes I arrest are weak sneakerheads or wearing some type of retro Jordan; you might get some props as you load them up in the Jail Van for transport.

How often do Emiratis wear Western clothes?

One comment not made in previous answers. Young, male, Emiratis tend to wear western dress more often, especially when going out to the mall in the evening or week-end.  Teenagers do it more than any other age category.Female Emiratis very rarely NOT wear traditional clothes (abaya and sheyla) in public - they often cover their face when they are with their husband, and in other circumstances, the ones who cover their face when they're with their sisters or female friends tend to be a bit more conservative - or they are a Sheikha and don't want to be recognised - or they have a big pimple and don't want anyone to see it (words not from me, but from my very good female Emirati friend). Some exceptions may be if the young Emirati female has a Western mother, in which case she may wear an open abaya and not cover her hair. It's not unusual to cross a young married couple where the husband is wearing western clothes while the wife is fully covered, and they're holding hands.The immense majority of Emiratis wear the national dress at work, and it's actually a requirement for government jobs and in many companies' dress code as well.
