How Often Should You Ware A Set Of Clothes

Laundry: How often should I wash my clothes?

I can only speak on the matter of demin. Demin fibers (likely like other kinds of fabrics) wear out from being laundered, especially from being put in the dryer. If you wear high end demin, the best thing to do is to very infrequently wash your jeans. Not only will they last longer, but they will grow softer over time. If you wear your average, basic jeans, you will likely end up prolonging their lives with this method. I wash my jeans, every 3 months or so. When I do wash them, I make sure to line dry them instead of putting them in the dryer. They don't smell or pick up a lot of dirt/stains or anything like that, but they are all very soft and extremely comfortable. For most things nicer then demin, dry cleaning seems to prolong the life of the garment the best. Most other things such as undergarments and T shirts, you are spot on. There's no way to wash them more than once after each use, and to wash them less would be unhygenic.

Why do surgeons often wear "turquoise" clothes?

Psychologically, blue/green has a calming effect. Studies have suggested that it lowers your blood pressure. Since it's often stressful to see a surgeon (likely you're either having surgery, or the possibility of surgery is likely) they wear calming colors so that people subconciously find them to be less stressful.

There could be more or less to it than that, but that is what I have heard most often, and i'm entering the field.

Not to mention, hospitals usually have a color coding system for their employees. Doctors wear a certain color scrubs, nurses another, surgeons another. It helps avoid any confusion in rank so that a person without the proper training isn't asked to perform a task out of their skill set.

How long is too long to own a set of clothes that you wear regularly?

I learned a long time ago that primary colours never go out of fashion.I do not own anything white or brown. All my trousers, sweats and work pants are black, various shades of grey or navy. All my Tshirts are red, black, grey, blue or khaki. My shoes are black except for a very good pair of sandals and a pair of Timberline hiking boots , socks and boxers are black, grey, dark red, or blue or mixtures of those colours.I like to paint and sketch so anything that has holes or tears I wear for that.I jean jacket that I bought in 1994. I Pea jacket I bought in 1990 and six or seven warm coats, the newest of these is one I bought in Cork in 2004.The secret is buying quality, preferably unbranded, clothing and rotating their use regularly. During a winter I may wear 3 or 4 different coats.4 custom made suits and 1 tux and 12 silk ties as well as 5 Egyptian cotton shirts and 1 dress shirt with studs for the tux and black Bally dress shoes.I replace underwear when the elastic perishes, socks when enough of them have gone into the 4th dimension via my washing machine and shoes when I wear through the sole.I am in my 70s and what I have should see me to my last day.NO SYNTHETIC FIBRES, except for the socks. They are ugly and fade horribly and contribute to heavy sweating. Most of the clothing produced is junk and over priced. If you get a year or 2 wear out of it, that’s lucky.

How should one wash one's ACU and PT clothes?

For the ACUs you should take off all the patches, zip everything up and turn them inside out. Make sure to use a detergent that does not contain bleach and I personally don't use fabric softener. Dry them on low or medium. We wash all the ACUs and PT stuff together. There are instructions on the labels.

Is it okay to wear the same clothes every day ?

No. If you really love wearing this sweatshirt so much, wear it at home. Take a little pride in your appearance. Do not wear the same clothes every day; wear clean clothes, and find a way to rotate through the garments in your wardrobe, but take care to wear things that actually coordinate with each other. (I don't know what your "style" is, but even the best-dressed punks take time to coordinate their outfits before they leave the house.)
Here's the sad truth: people are judged by their appearance (to varying degrees). Opportunities will not come your way if you continue to dress like a homeless person who only has one set of clothes. Leave the sweatshirt at home.

How can one take care of clothes so that they will last long?

In addition to all the great tips here (hang clothes up, don't use the dryer too much) here are a few other tips:Ideally, use wood hangers. For suit jackets, use the specially designed hangers with full shoulders. Above all else, do not use wire hangers as they can leave unsightly dents in your clothes along with rust stains.Pay attention to the humidity in your closet. Too much humidity can cause mold or rot. If this is an issue, get those hang up dessicants that absorb moisture.Pay attention to the air flow in your closet and around individual garments. It's good to once in a while just let the air circulate around your clothing since air can get stagnant in a closet by opening the door for a period of time. And if you have too jam packed a closet, overall not good for your clothes.Use a gentle detergent. Many commercial detergents contain ingredients that break down the fibers in your clothes.Do not keep clothes in the plastic bags that come grin the dry cleaners. If you want to have a garment bag for individual garments, use a cotton bag that will both keep the dust off your garment and also allow the air to circulate (i.e. let the garment “breathe”).

Sleeping with clothes on?

Hi, I am currently arguing with parents about sleeping with clothes on.

Most of the time I am more comfortable, sleeping in the clothes I wore during the day, and it seems like a hassle to put on pajamas to go to bed.

When i wake up, however, the first thing i do is take a shower, and put on a new clean set of clothes for the day ahead.

My parents have been trying to find proof that this is unhealthy, but unfortunately, most of the information available online are opinions and preferences, rather than articles, or studies.

So i leave the question to you guys. Is this unhealthy? or perfectly fine? Again, I understand people have their preferences, but this is not what i am interested in, My personal preference, is that I like sleeping with clothes on, but is there any proof that this is bad? Or do my parents just want me to sleep in pajamas because that's what MOST people do?

Please state your sources. Thank You

Do you wear the same clothes every day (or almost)?

I myself do wear the same sets of clothes (depending on the activity of course). I have many of the same clothes, khakis, plain t-shirts, ect. I doubt the guy does not wash them if they are indeed the same clothes. Try 'accidentally' spilling something on them and see if its still there the next day.
