How Should I Approach Job Seeking Given My Current Situation

How should I approach life, given my situation?

Sorry for being straight forward on this.Stop crying. Seriously? You graduated, you have support from your parents, you have a job, you can rely on yourself, you seem to be intelligent… you are far better off than lots of ppl on this planet… you have so many resources. Yet you forfeit… The classic human-existence-sense-of-life-crisis? Human life is void, by nature/fact/definition it is. You are born, you live, you die. Every human does. You can jump off a bridge, smoke your head away or do anything else, it does not matter. You end up dead. So, what is the purpose of life? Well, there is none. There is no bigger plan, no scheme, no general all accepted truth. You have to give your life purpose. Some ppl want to be remembered. Some ppl want to give love to a family. Some ppl want to have fun. Some ppl want to take drugs until it’s over. Some ppl want to murder other ppl. Some ppl want to work hard and become rich. Some ppl want to plant a tree, build a house and have a child. Some ppl want to travel and see the world. Some ppl want to be lazy and do nothing. Some ppl want to suicide. Some ppl want to fuck every day. Some ppl want to produce art. Some ppl want to rape children. Some ppl want to win the lottery. Some ppl want to teach others. Some ppl want to construct/invent stuff. Some ppl want to be the best in xyz. Some ppl want to research and find new stuff. Some ppl want to win the world championship. Some ppl want to leave their country. Some ppl want to cook/eat delicious food. Some ppl want to fight for their country. Some ppl want to read books. Some ppl want to solve problems.…And many more possibilities.Choose any of the above and get happy. You and only you can give your life a meaning. If I were you, i would contemplate about possible purposes of life. Get a few days off, develop some ideas. Basically you’re confronted with something, you’re really good at. You’re confronted with a problem, the problem of finding a purpose in life. Maybe you take a little longer, but you will solve this problem.Good luck!

Should I give up my current job to work for an Alexa Top 100 Internet company?

The answer lies more in your life-situation: family? children? what age are you? Ambition?  If you ever have dreams of climbing the ladder so to speak, the resume is critical.  If your resume is strong enough now to attract that offer, rest assured, in a few years, it will be stale.

My current job situation is intolerable for a number of reasons, so I am looking for new employment. My boss is making long term project plans with the assumption that I will be with the company. Is there a good way to drop the hint that I'm leaving, even though I have nothing firmed up yet?

You need a bit of FaceTime with your boss to clarify expectations, outcomes and your job satisfaction or lack of. If you don't have another job to go to and struggling with the present one- I would suggest you learn to love what you have instead of chasing a dream you have no guts to pursue. If you dislike your job so much then why do you stick around? If you are doing it just to pay bills which most people are, then do the right thing and don't assume you would have a better paying job one day so perform less now in anticipation. You need to man up or women up and confront your situation in the right way:If your pay is lower than your role is worth, then ask your boss to give you more challenges so can earn what you deserve. If you have doubt about future of the company, ask them about medium to long term objective of your team and company. See where you can carve your share of progression. If you are just chasing money, validate your worth and find the highest bidder for your skills/experience without compromising your performance at current workplace. If you other issues seek help in company policy or HR support.Unless you have another offer: I would recommend you to learn how you can mend the situation. You have an opportunity in this difficult situation to become stronger and develop resilience to thrive in future.Above all: feel happy (or atleast try to) that you have a job to complain about as there is a world of over qualified unemployed professionals stuck in all sorts of benefits and physical labour jobs. Thanks for the A2A, hope above helps in some way.

How do I relieve from my current organization (discription of the whole situation is given in the comments section, please have a look) who is not accepting my resignation?

Check with them why they aren’t accepting your resignation. Is it that they are not getting a suitable replacement? While that may be entirely their problem, you can try to help and score some brownie points/smoothen out your exit process.Lawfully, no company can have bonded labour. so if you have served your notice period as per the offer letter, then they cannot hold you back. Send a mail keeping your Local HR, Corp HR, and local Dept head informed. If they still resist, you may speak to them saying you are going to have a word with the Local Labour Office or seek legal counsel. Do not threaten. Just express your intention. That should do the trick.

How do I approach my landlord about breaking the lease?

I'm a Landlord, and honesty, forthrightness, and timeliness are your best tacts.

I understand that life situations occur that force an unforeseen change of plans. I also understand that if you don't have the money, I won't get paid. I'm much happier to let a family leave early than stay in my place and not pay rent.

Most Landlords understand this, and they won't be personally upset by you wanting to leave early. At the same time, leaving early costs them money and money because they need to prepare, advertise, and re rent the unit. If they suffer vacancies, they loose income.

So, expect the LL work with you, but you need to also expect that they'll pass on any costs to you.

Law dictates that the LL must try to rerent your apartment, but that the tenant is responsible to pay for any vacancy until the end of their lease terms. This means that if you break your lease and it takes 2 weeks to fill the unit, you owe two weeks rent.

Should I leave my current job because of my manager?

Dude if you don't know enough about how to find answers to your technical questions without asking your manager what did he/she hire you for?  You do know its up to you to figure this out right?  Managers aren't there to answer your specific technical questions or provide you all the details, YOU were hired to do that.  I know in some universities students have been led to believe that after a degree a benevolent manager will appear with a fat check and will become their work mommy.  Cold water alert - that not how this works... that not how any of this works.  You wanna survive in this business you better come to terms with the employee/employer relationship pretty darn fast.  Quick tip - you will do much better if you are more concerned about how well your manager likes you than the other way around.

My current job has a notice period of 3 months. Will other companies be happy to wait 3 months for me? If not, how should I approach?

Most companies, specially IT companies hire based on immediate need. So it's unlikely that anyone will allow you 3 months time to join. You have to either adjust a part of the notice period against your accumulated leave or opt for pay back of salary in lieu of notice period. Normally it's expected that a job switch is associated with a hike in package. So the loss by paying back salary is more than compensated .Some companies use this clause to prevent Employees ( specially good ones) from leaving. They don't accept either of your options and insist you serve the entire notice period, so that the opportunity slips out of your hand. Sometimes you get more offers if you are already serving a notice period as your prospective Employers know you can join earlier. But resigning without a specific job offer is highly risky under Indian condition.

Quitting a job gracefully?

I've only resigned from one other job in my life and it was because I was moving across the state. I began my current job about 9 months ago. I wasn't actively looking for or seeking a different job, but a friend of mine told me about a position she thought would be perfect for me. I interviewed, got the job, and it really is perfect. It's exactly what I want to do and aligns with where I want to go, has better pay and benefits, and a better schedule.

I'm nervous about resigning from my current job because I've only been there nine months and they are getting ready to go into their busy season. I don't want to leave anybody in a bad position and obviously I plan to give and fulfil a notice.

Any suggestions? I'm just so worried it's going to be terribly awkward. How do you even begin that conversation?

No calls back after applying for jobs?

I've been applying for jobs for 3 month now and have yet to get 1 interview. I have a university degree, I'm not incompetent. I'm about ready to apply for mcdonalds because it's better than nothing. What could be the problem, lack of related job experience? Bad cover letters?
