How To Become Waif-like But Not Emaciated

Is the media to blame for eating disorders?

Pitso this is a brilliant question. Just last week a group of mothers and myself (we are all mothers with daughters ranging from 7 to 11) were discussing this very topic. I think the media and us mothers are to blame. We are forever standing in front of the mirrors looking at our selves and saying "I am fat, or I picked weight up, or do not eat that, that makes you fat, or I am today on a diet, or did you see how much weight X picked up after her overseas trip, or I better start running, because I am now really fat, or these pants makes me look fat". Meant time the little ears are listening and learning from us, their peers. The one mother was so shocked because her 7 year old asked her if she thinks she looks fat! so from now on we decided to discuss our "weight" in private. It is really scary, even my own 10 year old, that looks like a puppy with long legs and big feet, not an ounce of fat asked me if I think she is fat!! I had such a shock. I also think the modeling agencies are to blame, just look at the fashion channels......most of those models are ridiculously thin, 1 80 cm tall and weighs 50 kg.....Also there are a perception amongst women and girls that men like very thin girls, I think it is all these factors that contribute to eating disorders.

How does you body image affect your self esteem?

Hey..i have another question. How does you body image affect your self esteem? do you think men and women think about thier bodies differently of differ in how important they feel their physical appearance is? Have media "ideals" of male and female bodies affected you or people you know either negativly of positively? Please help...atleast answer one of the questions if not all....thanks

Why were Women's Waists Smaller in the 1940's-1950s?

Only the very wealthy had cars and modern conveniences. Plus the movie stars wore corsets and trusses. The styles in clothing had smaller waistlines. So, if women had storebought clothing, they had to fit into them. Although most women made their own and their family's clothing. Those were the good ol' days in this U S of A

If people like big breasts, how come most models are flat-chested?

You are making unsubstantiated statements.

Firstly, the media doesn't "claim" that big breasts are better. Just saying "media" in this context robs your statement of much of its weight; "media" is entirely too nebulous a category. What media? Print, broadcast, social?

Secondly, "people might say," and they might not. If you have no references to cite, then your best bet is to opt to say nothing. You appear to be only stating your own opinions. It's fine to have an opinion, but don't try to pass it off as more than it is.

Homosexual men, whether they are prevalent in the fashion industry or not, are not generally interested in women looking like men. Generally they are interested in men looking like men.

I'm a straight guy and don't generally find the fashion models attractive, with a few exceptions. I'm not especially attracted to large breasted women; my wife was an A when we met. Two kids changed that forever but that wasn't something I was hoping for.

I've heard from a theater costume designer friend that models are often slim and relatively uncurvy because it gives the clothes more of a blank canvas against which to be presented. Thinking about it, that makes sense. The model's purpose isn't to be pretty and voluptuous, her purpose is to present the clothes, to let the audience see the clothes in motion. That's one way to look at it.

Should I blame men for eating disorders in us women?

I'm sorry if I'm sound kind of rude and demanding but should I blame guys for girls developing eating disorders and self-esteem problems? Can I justify my former eating disorder on guys?

You people might be wondering on why I'm asking this question but I do believe its men's fault. it seems that sometime they changed their minds by hating on voluptuous women and preferring waif-like women when fat in the past meant wealth, luxury, abundance, and possible survival in famines, but now it means totally the opposite. Today it means laziness, failure, and grossness. So since when slim and thin became as acceptable, successful, beautiful, and prosperous?

But guys not only want a rail-thin girl, they want a rail-thin girl with huge boobs, which is only attainable through surgery since big breasts on a skinny girl are most of the time implants. Most Sports Illustrated, Playboy, Maxim, runway models look like that, which is what guys watch all the time and set these standards to us. i blame guys for the fact that we have to wear clownish makeup because if not we feel hellish ugly.

I know that big boobs represent fertility, but what does thinness represent? I used to suffer from beginnings of anorexia nervosa because I started to feel lonely that no one loved me and thus, I started to starve myself, exercise compulsively but kept seeing myself as fat even if the scale kept telling me I was losing lots of pounds.

So since big boobs mean fertility, what does skinny-ness represent?

Do men really prefer supermodel-thin women?

It’s very difficult to answer and reason being. In my mind as an example..But then I’d fall attracted to a woman who looks like..Or in my head it be….But then I’d be hit by smart woman who has a lot to say about life and I love every fucking word that flows from her lips…Then one day I’m thinking of..But date and be in relationship with a woman who is so passionate, on fire about her health and fitness to have legs like…I’d be desiring..But then a woman connects with me who is curveous, sexually confident and oozing with sexiness, blows my mind and two year later, she flies over and…I appreciate her thick curve and ass.So I desire hot sexy woman and by that…Who makes me FEEL alive, turned on, hot and free.I prefer a lot of things.I prefer meeting millionnaires and teach the languge of sexual attraction than to some people who don’t value and who get fucking easily offended like they justice warriors… to find millionnaire takes how serious this knowledge is and want no BS and notcoach anyonewho cannot pay $100,000 like it’s no problem or says..“I so need help badly! It’s so important.”But not so important to pay for ones 25 years experience, specialised knowledge and skill, but they’d scower the net for hours on end to find themselves still in same place 5 years later, getting sick because they couldn’t even approach a girl who was close at proximty and all it would have took is “hi.”I prefer sitting on the beach all day, and chill and drink and be served, with exotic food as a woman rides my dick and for exotic is eating another woman’s pussy.I prefer being with women who truly are sexually confident, hot blooded, wild, free, not head up their asses about sex, calm down being all serious, and love the raw, direct, kinky reply, positive minded, always fun to talk to, flirty, are not so serious in begining with expectations… and don’t get so uptight and offended and “oooh sexiest” crap.We prefer a lot of things in life.We all prefer…prefer…prefer.Yes, physical attraction is important to me but then again, we better not underestimate the rest in us that people yet to see.

Why do people think big butts are sexy?

Because real women have curves, and the whole skinny as a stick is what's "beautiful" is fed to you by a stupid and racist media! Look at most models, they weigh 90 lbs, they're white, and they have light hair and blue or green eyes...now unfortunately, girls think if they don't look like that, then they're ugly, it's really sad.

5'9'' and 91 lbs...am I too thin?

Your family is right and you DO belong in an eating disorder clinic

Models are NOT 90-100lbs. Most models weigh 120-135lbs no matter what all this media hype want you to believe. Kate Moss who is considered a waif weighed 115lbs at the height of her career 10 years ago and is 122lbs now, and she's only 5'7". Gisele, the highest paid model in the world, publicly admits to weighing 130lbs, meaning she's probably more like 135-140lbs. And look at someone like Naomi Campbell - there is NO way she weighs under 140lbs.

I have been in the industry for 13 years and worked for a TOP NY agency and can guarantee there is not a model working today who weighs 90-100lbs. Anyone under 120lbs is considered too thin these days as there is no way you would have the necessary 34-24-34 model measurements if you only weighed 90lbs, unless you were only 5'1"

if your measurements are not within 1" of 34-24-34 then you know you are already too thin to be a model and no agency will even look at you. And if they suspect you have an eating disorder, as you do, there is no way they are going to sign you. People who are anorexic are mentally ill, it's not a physical illness, and they also have other psychological problems, self esteem issues, motivation problems, etc. No agency is going to take on a girl with low self esteem - she would never get cast on a single job if she's not super confident.
