How To Boost Your Child

How did you boost self-confidence in your child?

Self Confidence is defined as - confidence in one's own abilities. If you are trying to get your kids to have self confidence you need to give them opportunities to develop their abilities - and I'm not talking about super-structured activities where an adult is overseeing every little thing. Take your kids out into the woods and play in streams on rocks and in trees. Go to the park and practice climbing and running and take them swimming and fishing. Read to them, do family plays, etc., etc. If you have a kid that is shy, then don't put them in a lot of situations early on where they are constantly being judged by others. Let them spend time alone with their family developing their skills. When they are ready they'll venture out and show them off.

A good way to boost self-esteem in a child is to?

A.encourage the child to engage in competitive activities with his or her classmates. B.Ask a child to share a special talent or skill with the class. C.Sare problems you're ecperiencing with the child and ask for his or her help. D.Point out errors in the class work or activities so he or she can make improvements.--I picked B-Am I Right??

How do YOU raise your child/ren?

I know many people tend to raise their children on how they live their lives. Like if the parents are spiritual, they will raise their kids that way. Or if the parents are hipsters, the kids will be too. Also, unfortunately you have people that are racists and teach their kids to hate. Some people try to raise their kids to be the opposite of them and to not do the same things. Not all people agree with how others raise their kids. So how do you do it. What do you teach them, or what would you teach them? Please be honest. Thanks.

What are some of the best ways to raise your child?

At first I believe it's a recurring dream.Or rather, a recurring interruption of whatever it is I'm dreaming.A presence somewhere over my shoulder, a nuzzling on my neck. Like a horse, its hot, moist breath, the brush of its velvet lips. Except that the smell is not animal-like. It’s more like warm bread, nutmeg and bed linens. Then a stream of sound I can't make out – a radio frequency? This happens almost every night for as long as I can remember. I've grown so used to it it doesn't occur to me to wonder what it means. It takes me seventeen years to finally understand. It's a human voice, deep and lush, and it's saying something. It's words, and they are clear and eloquent, if somewhat redundant, like a mantra. And they are in English (I grew up in Mexico, so words in English can only mean one thing.)You are the most precious, beautiful girl in the world, the voice is saying. There is nothing you can't do. You are a miracle. You are here against all odds. You are here for a reason. You are going to change the world. The words begin to irritate me, because I'm so tired and they just keep coming. I feel exactly the way you do a few seconds before you gather the strength to finally reach out for the snooze button.I tighten my eyes shut, crunch up my shoulder against my neck, hoping. It. Will. Go. Away.It doesn't. The fourth "There is nothing - nothing - you can't do" finally does it. I'm now fully awake. I open my eyes and in the dark make out my mother's figure, kneeling on the floor in her nightgown, her elbows on the edge of my bed, her mouth grazing my ear. I roll back, alarmed."Mom!" I say, "What are you doing"?"I didn't mean to wake you.” She says this kind of unapologetically. "I'm just whispering things in your ear."Like this is perfectly logical."What kind of things? I mean, you woke me up! I was sleeping, mom!""I say things to you while you sleep so they will go directly into your subconscious." Her tone is clinical, like when a doctor says "I'm afraid this will require antibiotics." "I didn't mean to wake you. I guess I was talking a bit louder than I usually do"."What do you mean 'usually'"?"Go back to sleep, honey" she says and backs out of the room. "I'll see you tomorrow".

How can one raise a child to be a genius?

What seems so far to have worked for my son... Scoring very high in all testing and attending a magnet high-school 8th highest rated in country. We have not pushed him to take the Mensa test yet but I'm confident that he'll do a lot better than his parents on first taking. In regular public elementary schools he was bored out of his mind and they tried to label him as ADHD and recommend drugs.  Which we did not do!  Both parents just at the lower Mensa threshold as per the Mensa test.Tivo tied TV in bedroom 24 hour a day Educational Children's programming aimed at toddlers. They really can absorb linguistic patterns.Montessori for day care.Read to them often asking question about what you've just read.Educational computer games before they can operate computer on your lap.Let them point and choose the options.Vocabulary/Trivia games in car even on short trips.Non-educational television only reward for watching 3 or 4 educational shows and answering questions about what he learned on educational shows.Early exposure to philosophical questions, lateral thinking puzzles, and Po (lateral thinking) like brainstorming.Educational toys that emphasize creativity and original thinking.Live in an area that has the top 10 rated schools in the country.Special rewards for reading books well above their supposed reading level. You have to read them or reread them too so that you help them understand and let them teach you so that they gain confidence and teaching experience. Encourage summer learning through special computer camps and discovery programs. All of this has to be done in a very playful and loving manner that builds a love for learning.  I have not tried to push him any any one academic directions but have let him concentrate on the areas that he has the greatest passion for.As they start to gain attention from colleges and universities help them think about  the future very early and visualize what they will be doing in different types of jobs they are interested in and what the day to day assignments are in that field to make sure that no matter what they pursue they will have a career that does not bore them or make them hate going to work every day.

How to raise a child to be sweet?

Im expecting a daughter around January and becoming pregnant made me look at people around me and how they act. I often see little kids crying and throwing fits and act loud and rude and their parents never discipline them. I see little girls acting like spoiled brats if they don't get their way.

I want to raise my daughter to be sweet when she's little. I know, once she hits her teen years she wont always be that way, but I mean as an infant, to a toddler, to a little kid (like 6-8) for her to be nice and mannerly. Or her to be kind and not act like she doesn't know right from wrong. To be happy and smiling not crying and throwing tantrums.

How can you raise a communist child?

Well I’m not a communist, but I am a Marxist. I can also say that you cannot make a child a Marxist, they simply have no concept that the world works differently than how it’s spoken about by the ruling class. They have no experience in which to contrast their myths from material reality, however you certainly should prepare them for a brutal world that both cultivates and preys on youth naiveté.Basically, you need to tell them truth, expose the classed nature of both our system and its many servants. Explain the purpose of the state, the purpose of war, and the purpose of the dominant ideologies. Any educational institution will likely fail to do any of this, as their own purpose it to prepare the next generation of the ruling and working class’s.I didn’t become a Marxist through indoctrination, in fact it was the exact opposite. Dedicated inquiry, and critical thinking, is what lead me to Marxism. This is what you must teach your child, to be brave like Galileo was, to fight oppressive narratives with the Truth. Teach your children to be humble before the Truth, to speak only in good faith, and to see themselves reflected in others.

Can boredom actually boost your children's creativity?

If the goal is nurturing creativity, creating situations where kids are bored would be a poor way to go about it. Creativity is nurtured by a rich environment and other people being creative. When kids are bored with no one to help, sometimes they’ll hit on something unexpectedly creative out of desperation. But usually, they’ll just find the least boring thing to do. The creative solution the child came up with will stick in our minds. We’ll forget or not even be aware of the far more common times when they end up doing something they usually do.When kids are bored sometimes it means they feel disconnected. The best cure is connecting. Ask the child to join you in what you’re doing just to keep you company. Sometimes ‘bored” means they have a problem. Sometimes it means they’re stuck. A parent can pull out something neglected from the back of a closet. They can, with the child’s help, keep a running list of suggestions to do when bored. Sometimes just getting them started on something new will be the spark they need.Bored No More!Another homeschooling mom once wrote, "It's a valuable lesson to learn to deal with boredom, just like all other emotions."Until I read that, I hadn’t ever thought of boredom as an emotion. I liked the idea. When a child comes to me seeking advice on how to deal with any emotional state, I'm flattered and glad for the opportunity.Traditionally in this culture boredom is seen as a state of sin. "I’m bored" is met by unthinking parents with, "Then mop the kitchen," or "You have a thousand dollars’ worth of toys, you can’t be bored," or "Boredom’s good for you." I believe the VERY common habit of belittling children who use the word "bored" should be rethought (or "thought," since it seems many parents have never considered it carefully but just repeat what their parents said to them).

How do you raise your child bilingual?

Just talk to your baby in German as much as you can when you are with your children. the smaller they are the quicker they can catch on. My sister married a french man and her kids can speak spanish, english and french. the more you spend time with your children the more they will understand and speak it.

How did you raise your child to be a straight A student?

Let’s assume straight A is a game, like 400m hurdles. The aim of the game is to get all As. All As, you win. In 400m hurdles, the aim is to run a curve and jump 1m bars along the way, fast as possible. If you were a cheetah, you will do well in 400m hurdles. But if you were an elephant, not so much. If you were a shark, don’t bother. What if you play the game pull tree trunks? Elephant wins. What about swimming 1500ms?SO if your child is a straight As scholar, it’s quite easy to motivate him and they’ll get straight As. If your child is a painter, you can beat him to death and he’ll never get straight As.If your child was supposed to start Virgin airlines and become a billionaire, if he got straight As, then Richard Branson would not have started Virgin, and probably would be working at customer service in Dell today.Your choice.
