How To Build Strength After A Sinus Infection

How do you treat a sinus infection?

So I THINK I have a sinus infection, and not a head cold. I have had all the symptoms for over 2 weeks. I thought it was a cold til it lasted this long. Does anyone know how to treat it from home or anything about sinus infections? Thanky ou!

I have a sinus infection/ ear infection. For 6 weeks now and I have seen a Doctor.?

I have been on 2 different antibiotics. 1st one was levaquin 875mg for 10 days. 2nd is Augmentin 875mg on day 9, 5 more to go. I am tired, I cannot concentrate and I am dizzy even when sitting. I flush my sinuses with saline and have been sleeping with a humidifier. I had the same problem 4 months earlier. I feel like I have been bed ridden for the last 6 months. I also take Enthex 400 for congestion. I do not have a deviated septum. I have severe pain in my face shooting from my eye to my teeth. My teeth are fine. My mucus is green and yellow. No fever. I put hot compresses on my face and take steam showers to loosen the mucus. What else can I possibly do and how can I prevent it from coming back?

Is Z-Pak good for an ear infection?

The “Z-Pak”, or in other words a 5 day course of azithromycin, may work for an ear infection under certain circumstances, but is not the preferred choice for otitis media. The most common organisms to cause ear infections are Streptococcus pneumoniae, Hemophilus influenzae, and Moraxella catarrhalis, and viruses. Preferred choices would include amoxicillin, Augmentin (amoxicillin plus clavulanate), and the second and third generation cephalosporins. If the patient was allergic to the penicillin type drugs, trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (Bactrim) would be an option, as would clarithromycin (Biaxin). For adults, the fluoroquinolones such as Levaquin and Avelox would work, but are probably "overkill".Zithromax, while commonly lumped in with the macrolides such as erythromycin and clarithromycin, is actually in the azilide subclass of macrolides. This class concentrates intercellularly and not in the middle ear fluid, possesses limited activity in acidic anaerobic environments such as a pus filled middle ear, and is only bacteriostatic (inhibitory) rather than bacteriocidal (bacteria killing). Zithromax also has poor activity against Hemophilus influenzae, and Moraxella catarrhalis and obviously no impact on viruses. Finally, the whole Z-Pak concept is a bad idea for infections with a high propensity toward antibiotic resistance, such as otitis media. The Z pack premise is that you can “load dose” the first two days of treatment to achieve a high blood level of the antibiotic, and then allow the high blood level to trail off slowly because of the drugs long half-life. This is in order to maintain therapeutic drug levels for a full ten days after only three to five days of treatment. Unfortunately, it doesn't always work this way and when the medication blood levels drop below the therapeutic range bacterial resistance rapidly develops. For the above reasons, a Z pack is a poor first choice for most ear infections. Nonetheless, I have been guilty of writing Z packs for ear infections in the past, and most of the time they have worked.

Can colds affect one's stamina?

Yes, a cold can easily cause this. Rest up and take care of it.

You may have a sinus infection. push on your face. does it feel like more pressure than you are using? if so see a doctor and get antibiotics.

BEWARE. allergies can also cause cold-like symptoms. if the "cold" doesn't go away, check with an allergist or take claritin (assuming you aren't allergic) and see if that resolves the problem. As always check with a doctor if claritin is right for you

Is claritin good for sinus problems?

YES, IF YOUR SINUS PROBLEMS ARE BASED ON ALLERGIES. IT'S ANTIHYSTAMINE. YOU BETTER GO TO A DOCTOR. I , PERSONALLY AM ALLERGIC TO CLARITIN ITSELF, IT MADE MY SKIN TURN BRIGHT RED AND ALL MY SYMPTOMS GOT WORSE.
