How To Celebrate My 25th Annivarsary

Should I feel hurt that we aren't celebrating our 25th anniversary?

Today is my 25th wedding anniversary. By now I should KNOW how important communication is, but I made the old mistake: ASSUME. (It makes an ___ out of U and Me.)
I assumed that he'd set up a celebration.
We moved out here 2 years ago to be close to his grown kids & their children (his grands), because he missed them so much. (I assure you my family would have celebrated!)
So I go and ask him yesterday, and he said, "I asked, and they said they don't celebrate anniversaries." I said, "But it's our 25th; that's major!" Nothing. Come on, do you really think they won't feel the same way if/when they make it there? I even wonder when it's time for their mom, who's been married about 15 years, will they celebrate with them?
MY guess is that it's b/c we did not set anything up.
So I brought *that* up. He said, "They have plans with other family members this weekend."

If that isn't bad enough, we're even disagreeing on how to celebrate. With a limited income (I was born w/ a severe disability, but still worked as long as I possibly could, and even now I'm raising our daughter), I wanted to buy a nice-sized cake and invite over neighbor friends; no going. He said, "I was going to take you out for dinner."
I don't know about you, but we go out to dinner once every other month. No where special -- we tend to like Golden Corral or Mexican -- but we do go out. We're just very careful in our budgeting.
But a Silver Anniversary.. I've ALWAYS considered that something special, ever since I heard of it in elementary school! WHY does it ONLY warrant the three of us going out for a 'nice dinner'? WHY not at LEAST have cake & ice cream with friends we've made, since his kids won't do anything?

I keep wishing I'd wake up and find out that this was just a gag to keep me from knowing, but I know it isn't. and I'm hurt.

Oh, and guess what. It's 8:30 a.m. I got up an hour ago, to get ready for my grandson. Guess what. They're keeping him today, and didn't even let me know.

I don't feel that I'm wrong in feeling UNaccepted. If I'm wrong, enlighten me; I'll still give you a thumbs-up. I just want to understand all this.

Thanks for reading all this.

When is a silver jubilee wedding anniversary celebrated? Is it on the start of the 25th year or completion of the 25th year?

The first anniversary is one year from the date of the wedding, when the couple has completed one year of marriage.  The second anniversary is one year after that, when they've completed two years. And on and on, until you reach the 25th anniversary, when they've completed 25 years of marriage. That's the silver anniversary.

It's my parents' 25th anniversary. What can I do to make the day special?

u can make a short documentary of some of the best pictures of your parents together, they'll love it...because photographers are something which never bores a person, there's always something new to see in them :-)
