How To Change Monitor Display To 16 Bit In Windows Xp

How do I change windows from 32 bit to 64 bit?

You can only install the Windows version that matches your processor architecture. If your processor is 32-bit, you can’t install a 64-bit Windows version, unless you change your motherboard and install a 64-bit processor. For you to know that, right-click My Computer and select System. If your processor is 64 bit, you’ll see that there, as shown below. If this screenshot shows “32-bit operating system” and “x86 processor”, you can only change your processor to a new one supporting 64-bit architecture, otherwise you can’t natively install a 64-bit version like that. It’s a hardware feature, not something you can change with a software tweak.

Changing my MacBook Pro display to 32-bit or 16-bit?

Crossover runs everything through a custom X11 version built into it, much like X11.app. It pretty much only runs right with 24bit... but it should attempt, and usually run just fine programs that are 16 or 32 bit color depths as well. There is really not much you can do about this.

In Mac OS X 10.6 there is really only 1 color depth... but Crossover and other Wine based programs like it shouldn't really have a problem with handling games that are 16 or 32 bit color depth... they do sometimes have problems with very old 8 bit ones, but thats on a case by case basis.

Do not confuse color depths (16, 24, 32 bit etc...) with something like a 32 or 64 bit app... yes its all "bits" but that is measuring a completely different thing.

How can I switch to 16-Bit color on a 32-bit Windows 7 Alienware X51 for a single program?

I'm trying to run Might and Magic VI which is a game from 1996, so naturally it needs to be configured. I have an Alienware X51 with an Nvidia 545 graphics card and a 32 Inch Vizio 1080P HDTV as my monitor. My problem is that the game runs just fine but it's confined to full screen with borders, basically it's just a small box in the center of the screen but the computer is registering that it is fullscreen, I don't want that box there, I just want the entire game on fullscreen. F4 and ALT+Enter does not work to switch between windowed and full. After an hour of research I have come to the conclusion that my settings need to be in 16-bit color in order to properly run the game, is there any way that I can have the computer switch from 32 to 16 automatically upon launching the application?

Can you still play DOS games on Windows 10?

As Mikhail Rozhkov said, DOSBox is the answer. Used it myself for the past 10 years. Is much more convenient just to fiddle with configuration files instead of dealing with real hardware. The last Windows which properly run some DOS games was 98SE, and that was a long time ago. I used it as long as I could, dual booting with Windows XP; not because I liked it more, but some games which worked fine in 98SE, at refresh rates of 75 or 85 or 100 HZ defaulted to 60 HZ refresh rate in XP and there was no way of setting them at higher refresh rates; anybody who used CRT monitors knows that 60 HZ is annoying and eye hurting. To end my rambling, DOSBox has emulation for quality and hard to get sound devices, like Roland MT-32 and Gravis Ultrasound. They are rare and expensive even now, 25 years ago they were the best sound you could get. And back then sound made all the difference. Also a sidenote to Mikhail’s answer: as an user of both DOSBox and ScummVM, I wish their programmers share some info and implement in DB some of the graphic filters of ScummVM.

How do I change sound setting to 24 bit 48000Hz on xp?

Hope you have a 24bit sound card. Such as a Creative Live Value, Emu 1616 or something similar. Most onboard sound aren't 24 bit.

Anyway, go to control panel, if you use creative , then use Audio HQ and select output to 24bit.

How do I change the bit depth of a song to 16 or 24 bit?

It appears you bounced your audio out at 32 bit resolution. While 32bit audio can be very useful while mixing and working inside the application it has no tangible uses outside as a standalone file.It should be simple to export your audio as a 24 or 16 bit file. If this is to be your final Master File I would recommend exporting at 44.1kHz/16bit. This equates to CD audio and is a perfectly good master format.

How can I change the resolution on my Dell S199WFP monitor from 1152 x 864 to 1440 x 900?

I have a Dell Dimension 4550 with Windows XP and just bought a Dell SE 199 WFP flat screen monitor for it. I have been trying to set my screen resolution to 1440 x 900, the advertised setting. When I first started, the resolution was set at 1280 x 1024, but in trying to change it, I have somehow changed it to a maximum of 1152 x 864...STILL not the 1440 x 900 I want. I have installed the recommended new driver and also downloaded and installed the latest driver for the display adapter, which is a 32MB ATI Rage 128 Ultra.

Can anybody PLEASE tell me how to fix this?

Question re: 256 color bit in Windows 2000 Professional?

Windows 2000 should have displayed a warning about installing on the same drive volume as another Windows installation. {Why Microsoft even allowed this type of multi-OS version installation is beyond me} Well, what's done is done. Yes, it is often a problem about drivers and other software that cannot keep it's hands out of the other Windows folder (one might be called "WINNT" and the other "Windows"), not to mention that you have one Program Files directory for two OS versions. You is jes askin fu trouble, as Uncle Remus once said.

Be that as it may, you should press ahead with installing driver for the card. Windows before XP SP2 was far from "plug-and-play". Sometimes a bit of hocus-pocus was needed to force it to use even the best driver. Sometimes a default Windows graphic driver would not work, but after erase and install, bingo! Full 32-bit color using exactly the same driver choice.

If it were my system, I would create a partition for the second OS. That prevents old versions of Word from bumping heads with the support files for new versions of Word -- don't ask how it happens, but I assure you it is possible-- and prevents XP drivers from mixing with 2K drivers.

I'm also a bit amazed that an "upgrade" disc can install over a newer version of Windows. Microsoft really does just throw caution to the wind sometimes. Technically, Windows 2000 was equivalent to NT5, and XP was equivalent to NT6. Microsoft made everyone think they were memorizing the British royal line of successions instead of just sticking with one naming system. Let's see... there was King George the III, and then George the IV, and then William the IV, and then Queen Victoria, and then Edward the VII, and then back to George V...

Does GTA IV work on Windows 10?

I’ve heard of a few issues that are most commonly resolved as shown below. Generally as long as you remember to run the installation in Compatibility Mode (for GTA IV use WinXP SP3) it will install and run without any errors. I’m running 16-bit games that have been in storage for almost 20 years in Windows 10, something not possible with earlier versions such as Windows 7! The registry hack is as follows:Open regedit.exe from an elevated command prompt.Locate HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows and locate CSDVersion within the key. Right click and modify the key value to 100The above must be accomplished PRIOR to installation of the game. After modification of the key, navigate to the game’s DVD and ‘right-click’ on the ‘setup.exe’ file in the GTA IV folder, choose properties and check the ‘run this program in compatibility mode’ and choose Windows XP SP3. Apply. Then ‘right-click’ the same setup file and choose ‘run as administrator’ and you should have no problems. This REQUIRES a registry edit so I recommend you make a backup copy prior to following any of these steps and neither I, nor Quora, can be held responsible if altering your registry in any away causes problems with your system. If you are NOT familiar with the registry editor or don’t understand the key structure then I recommend you find someone that is to perform this type of work on your system.
