How To Cure A Lost Voice

How to cure a lost voice?

People will tell you all these different cures solutions. You can find hundreds of them online, but none are truly effective. There are only a few things you can do.

First of all, stop making any sounds. RIGHT NOW!!! Even whispering is enough to extend your laryngitis.

Secondly, drink TONS of water! You need to stay very hydrated, your throat needs it to heal.

Having a lozenge of some sort to keep your throat constantly moist might help, but is unnecessary, especially if your getting enough water.

do these simple steps, and you should get it back soon. No bizarre mixtures or anything else your told to drink will do you much good.

My guess, you'll kinda have it back monday, to the point you'll either take rehersal off one day or perform softly (dont strain your voice!!!)

How do you cure a lost voice in a day?

1. Stay on complete voice rest until Monday. Whispering makes it worse. Carry a notepad with you.
2. Gargle with warm salt water to reduce the possibility of infection.
3. Steady doses of ibuprophen or aspirin (depending on your age). Please follow directions on the bottle. This is to reduce inflammation.
4. Warm apple juice. The pH is closer to your own saliva than straight water.
5. On the day of singing: Some singers eat a few potato chips right before performance. The oil seems to lubricate the vocal mechanism.

What are the most effective lost voice cures?

Well, I am assuming that you are talking about the voice hoarseness and then voice lost as seen in acute laryngitis. Such hoarseness and voice loss is usually caused by swelling of vocal cords because of irritants, strenuous use of vocal cords, or viral/ bacterial infections. If you experience intense pain when you speak, have difficulty in swallowing, or suffer from any other chronic condition than you must refer to GP or otolaryngologist. If it is an acute issue like voice loss that comes with a common cold or when you speak too much or too loudly, you should not do anything but give rest to your vocal cords (voice muscles).Next, try to stay hydrated. Drink lukewarm water or at least room temperature water. You can also gargle with warm water and salt, this may also help to soothe the vocal cords. In addition, honey with warm water can also be helpful as honey has antibacterial properties. Avoid all irritants. You can also take lozenges but I do not usually recommend that because it dries out throat. (Many antibiotics can be helpful in most acute laryngitis cases but for that, you will have to get a prescription from a doctor).Hope all the aforementioned remedies will help to cure your throat and bring your voice back.Stay healthy!

How can I treat my voice if I lost it from screaming?

To recover your voice after screaming, shouting, straining during singing, loud speaking:- Rest it as much as possible (no speaking for at least a few hours or if possible for a day or two depending on the severity of your condition; no whispering, which can be even worse for your voice than speaking)- Breathe through your nose – breathing through your mouth will dry out your throat making it even more sensitive and uncomfortable- Avoid irritants – smoke, alcohol, acidic foods & drinks- Inhale steam / use humidifier, which will help to increase moisture in your throat. You can inhale steam from chamomile tea, which has a soothing effect on the throat lining.- Drink plenty of water (preferably room temperature, nothing too hot or too cold). Another soothing drink you could try is warm water with some honey or milk with honey and linseed, which has a particularly calming effect on the lining of the throat.- If your condition doesn’t improve within a couple of days, please seek medical advice.Best wishes!

How to cure a hoarsed voice?

My voice is sore, and I'm losing my voice. What are some things that can help make it go away, or at least calm down? I have to sing in various services for church services for Christmas so I need help.

What is the best medicine for a lost voice?

Hot tea with honey and lemon has always helped me get my voice back faster. Other than that, just rest your vocal chords, have a few lozenges, and lots of sleep.

If you lost your voice because of other symptoms, such as a cough, then you should obviously treat that symptom. Over the counter cough medicines will help with that and gargling with salt water can help draw out any infection so you can heal faster. However, if you've just lost your voice, I'm afraid there isn't any medicine to bring it back faster.

I was screaming and I have lost my singing voice, is there any chance that I will get it back as it was before or will it be permanently damaged?

Screaming in what context? If you’re screaming in anger at something, you’ve likely done some damage to your voice. The good news is that it’s temporary. The bad news is that as you recover it (last time this happened to me, took me a day or two) you likely won’t have that much of a vocal range to note of at all. Anyway, if this is the first time this has happened to you, don’t worry. I’ve been through it before, and my voice wasn’t gone for much too long. Now if you were screaming in the terms of wanting to emulate that of the vocalist of a metal band, I can more than likely deduce that you’re using improper technique and you should stop that immediately. Though it may sound like it, it’s not the same as the impulsive scream that comes out of your mouth when you’re angry. You need to learn the proper technique behind the false chord, fry scream, guttural, or whatever it was you were trying to do. (People say that even these techniques are damaging over time, which I wouldn’t say is completely true, as if you do everything right, you should be able to reserve your voice for a long time. Though, I do see where they’re coming from, so, as usual, always be careful. Also drink a lot of water.)As others have said, you should definitely give your voice a rest for a while. A few days should be more than enough. Start doing warm-ups and exercises for your voice if you don’t already. My final note would be to never do anything that physically hurts you in your vocal practices and performances. If anything does, take it slower, step by step. If it still hurts, then you’re definitely doing it wrong and should seek help from someone who knows how to do what you want to do before proceeding.
