How To Darken My Hair

How to darken red hair dye?

I've dyed my hair red for a very long time. My hair is naturally medium to dark brown, so I've bleached it every time. However, my hair always comes out a very bright red, when I'm looking for a very dark burgundy red. I've got the deepest red I can find, and even mixed a bit of temporary black dye in with it, but the black simply overpowered the red. Somebody once told me that if I bleach my hair a darker shade of blonde, the red will come out darker. Is this true? Also, could anybody out there give any tips on how to darken red hair dye, or perhaps recommend a decent brand with a deeper shade?

How can I naturally darken my hair?

There are a few ways to darken your hair and it's all natural, indian girls rinse their hair with black walnut water to darken their hair : crack a few walnuts and place the entire walnut in boiling water and boil for 15 to 25 minutes. Put on gloves and apply this to your hair and place a hair cap over your hair. Let it sit for 30 minutes and let dry. Rinse and wash your hair. However be careful, this walnut-based mixture can permanently stain anything it comes in contact with so be careful with it. Repeat process until you get your hair to be as dark a shade as you want it to be. So that's the hairdye way to use it but you can just rinse your hair with it after shampooing if you don't want to go very dark !

Also pumpkin pips oil darkens the hair a lot ( my friend was a light blonde and she became an auburn using that oil regularly on her hair ) ; just put lots of pumpkin pips in a liter of olive oil and let it rest at least a day, then put on your hair, put a beanie on and go to sleep.
In the morning you wash it and rinse with the wallnut shells water. Made my hair much darker.

You can also darken hair color at home by using a half cup of apple cider vinegar with a half cup of soy sauce as a final rinse after shampooing.

One last tip : Coconut Oil and milk. Not only will it darken your hair, but it will also strengthen it. The coconut fruit itself is a natural protein, so your hair will become stronger after frequent use !

About black coffee hair dye, it does darken light hair ( and gives reddish highlights ), but doesn't darken dark one : it just gives it reddish highlights and it might actually lighten black hair to a dark brown ( tea does ), so I wouldn't recommend it if you have dark hair to start with, also make sure you always have hair sun block on, no matter what the season is and what the weather is like, hope that helps !

How to naturally darken brown hair?

Hi, my hair is currently a bit lighter than chestnut brown. I have always wanted my hair to be a darker (almost black) hazelnut brown. I have tried brewed coffee, ground coffee, brewed black tea, and i have also tried putting hershey cocoa powder in my shampoo. None of this has really worked....does anyone know of any other natural and effective yet cheap ways to darken my hair? i really do not want to resort to dying it with chemicals.
thank you :)
