How To Do Better In School Need Help

Can someone convince me to do better in school?

1. School is not a chore: It is an investment in your future.
2. School teaches you facts and techniques but, mostly, it teaches you how to use your brain.
3. School is the ONE best shot we will EVER get to set ourselves up for a successful life.
4. Any fool can be a lifelong loser. The only thing stopping it is YOU by paying attention in school.

I did not apply myself at school and left with few qualifications. While former friends had good jobs and earrned a fortune, I was only getting lowly jobs and was earning very little. They were jetting off on holidays: I was struggling to buy food. They became the boss: I was working for time-served idiots. It is horrible! I did improve my situation by going to night school and studying part time while working, which meant giving up all my evenings and weekends. It took me nearly 20 years to get a position a could have been in all along if I had applied myself at school. All I'm saying is 'please don't make the same stupid mistakes I did'. OK? A few years hard work now could buy you a much more enjoyable life.

How to do better in school?

Firstly well done for recognising there is a problem and wanting to do something about it.

Secondly, as your mum and dad are unable/unwilling to help then try getting a friend to instead. Lots of kids have working parents who do not have the time, or the ability, to help their kids with homework.

Draw up a weekly/fortnightly grid to show which night homework is given for each subject. This will depend on whether you school has a weekly or two weekly timetable.

When you get home have something to eat and drink eg a sandwich and a non fizzy drink then check your homework planner and do 15-20 mins straight away. In years 7-9 this should be long enough to finish the work set. If you need more time then take a short break of just 5 mins then go back and finish it.

Plan on doing homework for 30 mins when you first get home then it's done and finished with so you can do there things for the rest of the evening.

If there are things you don't understand then ask you teacher, or phone a friend to discuss it. Maybe get a friend to come round after school so you both do your work - but don't copy each others work!

It doesn't sound as if you need medication at all to me. You just need to get organised and be more efficient. Too many youngsters are labelled with ADD or ADHD when what they need is routine, encouragement and a bit of help.

Good luck. And do remember there are people who can help you - even on here!

How can I, as a student, make my school a better place?

Often what a school needs to become a better place is for everyone--students and adults--to treat each other better.Treat everyone with respect--fellow students, faculty, administrators. Help keep your school clean--if you walk along and see a gum wrapper on the floor, pick it up and throw it out. Acknowledge people.  If you see someone you know, smile and say hello.  If you pass a teacher you don't know, at least smile.  Include more people in your group of friends. See if another student looks as if s/he is left out--at least introduce yourself and talk to him/her.  You don't have to be friends, but be nice.Recognize that no one is beneath anyone else.  Smile and say hello to the cleaning people as well as the people who work in the cafeteria. If a student says something hurtful or mean about another student, tell them that is not a good thing to say.  It's difficult, but you can tell them that that kind of language makes you uncomfortable.Thank your teacher as you leave class. They have put a lot of effort into preparing the lesson.Improving a school often means improving the atmosphere between students and students and students and adults.  It is not hard for an individual to do, but it requires vigilance.  If more students act this way, the school gradually, and then more quickly, gets better.

I need help on my thesis statement on school uniforms?

It is a great idea for schools to implement a policy on school uniforms because statistics show that students who wear uniforms make better grades, the male students aren't as distracted by what the female students are (or aren't) wearing, and students feel a sense of equality with one another as they are all wearing the same things and when students are at one with one another their confidence soars, which leads to doing better at school.

Student uniforms helps with reducing the amount of bullying therefore the students who would normally be bullied now have a much better disposition while at school, which leads to a more healthy learning environment. When a student feels less threatened at school, they can concentrate better which will lead to better grades.

The schools which have an enforced uniform policy have properly dressed students. When teenage girls, who want to impress teenage boys dress inappropriately it causes a lot of distractions. The girls are also envious on one another so unrest is caused in the classroom throughout the day, not only among the boys who are looking at the girls, but at the girls who are jealous of the girls getting the attention.

Also, rules are put into place in schools and states make laws to protect the less educated. If parents don't have enough sense to properly dress their boys and girls, then maybe it's time for the schools and states to tell parents how to dress their children for in a society which dresses the same there is less to be distracted by therefore people in society will be more interested in what is really important; making a positive change in the lives of those around us.

HELP!!! Addicted to yahoo answers, can't focus on school work, someone please tell me good stratagies to stop?

Look at a lot of these questions and answers and some of the people who ask them. This could be you in a few years if you don't start doing your homework and getting good grades. Do you want to be a no life moron who asks idiotic questions in here as opposed to using the search engine? Better yet, do you want to be a member of the Y Answers Staff??? In this case you would be a clueless moron with no people skills whose only purpose in life is to send out violation notices that you can't read or understand.
