How can we travel the world at minimal expenses?

. Keep your needs to a minimum. The modern American economy is built on the false premise that people need to buy new goods and services all the time. Again, I call bullshit.People need fresh air, healthy food, clean water, exercise, creative stimulation, companionship, self-esteem, and a safe place to sleep. All of these things are simple to obtain. Most of them are free. For fresh air, go outside. For exercise, take a walk. For creative stimulation, go somewhere new. For companionship, make a friend. For self-esteem, turn off your TV, breathe deep, and open your spirit to the basic goodness of the world.Things like food and shelter are much cheaper once you get outside the United States. See #5 below for ways to obtain food and shelter for free.. Go slow.If you live in New York and want to take a 2-week vacation to Africa, it will be very difficult (though not impossible, see #8) to travel for free. Indeed, as long as you believe that time is money, you will spend money all the time.Time is not money. Time is free. You have all the time in the world.Instead of buying a plane ticket, catch a ride out West, or remodel an old sailboat, or just hop on your bike and ride away from town. The slower you travel, the less money you will spend.Leave your possessions and obsessions behind. When you travel, you don’t need to pay rent. You don’t need a car. You don’t need an oven, a washer-dryer, electricity, cable TV, a gym membership, a sofa and loveseat, or a closet full of clothes. You don’t need a suit and tie to wear to your job because you don’t need a job. You don’t need to worry about paying the bills, because there are no bills to pay.You are free.Trust people and you will receive free food and lodging. Many people are willing to open their homes to travelers. Chip in with a few chores, and they will give you a free meal, too.

Is it expensive to live in Florida?

I'm considering moving from Akron Ohio to Florida. Not sure which part yet..
I'm leaning towards Tampa.
However my coworker is telling me it's so expensive down there (Her mom lived there for a year).
Even though I did a cost of living calendar, and it's not that much different.
She said Food in Florida is so expensive, and there isn't a dollar menu at the restaurants.
Is this true?

I don't know if she is trying shy me away from moving there, cause she doesn't want me leaving this job. I'm 30 and have no husband or kids. I'm ready for a change.

How do some travelers afford spending all of their time exploring the world?

Personally my boyfriend and I work for 6 months of the year and travel for the other 6 months. We work are butts off all summer in the Yukon, Canada for a company who pays for our meals and lodging..because its such a remote place we have no where to spend our paycheques so we save them all. When it comes to traveling its pretty easy to find cheap flights if you know where to look. We also stay in hostels and travel in between countries by bus…(in Central America it only costs about 2 american dollars for a 7 hr bus ride) Some hostels allow you to work for your accommodations as well. you can easily live off $30 dollars a day if not less…and when you consider living in canada…paying rent…cellphone bill…gas money..groceries its a heck of a lot cheaper and you get an amazing experience.I went to post secondary school directly after highschool..however will be taking a hiatus from traveling soon to get a higher degree …if anything traveling has broadened my career prospects….its definitely made me more aware of the things I want to accomplish in life and the importance of happiness ..Travel is the BEST form of education…and now a days people get too caught up in materialistic things and society its nice to escape from technology and find happiness through simplicity.

What is a good way to save money with a small salary?

I think I am Qualified for this answer -According to me there will be two step for saving money 1st one would be save money and second would be create more money.Save Money - :1. Put the money aside that you want to save then plan your month with the rest of the money.2. Set your priorities with rest of the money and work on them accordingly.3. separate your needs and wants and live on your needs not on your wants.4. Adjust your needs as well.Make more money -:Go for second income as well. As by only saving you can never save so much money with a small salary. try to work on some weekends, I would suggest to work on contract basis/freelancer so that you are not always bound to anyone take a project finish it, take rest for a while and enjoy with extra money that you earned and then go for next project when you are ready. Some points to remember -: 1. Never adjust so much that you kill your interests, put some money aside(let say 10%, money will grow with your salary) for the things in which you are interested. 2. Never adjust on a healthy diet (I have seen some of my friends doing so), if you are doing so you are killing yourself.Summary -  So after considering all the three points mentioned above that's how it goes.Keep 10% aside for your things of interests.keep 20% aside for your diet.keep 30% aside for your needs(House rent, travelling fare, little work of maintenance of various things).keep 10% as buffer for any of the above. Now you can save 30%(which is really a significant amount) of your salary. at the end of the month(or whatever your cycle is for getting paid) what ever extra left from that 70%, save that too.chase your wants from extra income, I would never suggest to save that extra income unless you really need to.P.S. This is my own experience(personal and observed), this is a way of saving money but not the only way for it. Percentage that I mentioned above, works for me, you may plan accordingly. Thanks for A2A Manderas Hailu
