How To Find Cool Places In Your Neighborhood/area

Cool New Orleans neighborhoods?

The Marigny/Bywater is pretty much where all the cool kids live. I don't know anyone who owns a home but the rent is relatively cheap since it is all Victorian shotguns. I'd live there but my roommate is a big hairy guy and I don't want to share a shotgun.

My other choice would be not too deep uptown on Magazine or St Charles, like near where Magazine splits by Sophie Wright park.

Other option might be in Carrollton near Oak & Maple St. Some good bars and restaurants plus thrift stores and comic books stores, and it's safer. Mostly Tulane kids.

What are some cool neighborhoods in and around Glendale, CA?

Montrose and Adams Hill seem cool. I like Citrus Grove and City Center. From the area near the southern border of Citrus Grove and City Center, it's an easy walk to Ralph's, Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Central Library, the Galleria, the Americana, and all the shops & restaurants on Brand, and a straight shot bus ride into Old Town Pasadena, Hollywood and DTLA.Here's a map of Glendale neighborhoods put out by the city of Glendale:http://www.ci.glendale.ca.us/pdf...

What are the coolest neighborhoods in Portland?

The answer to the question depends on lifestyle and preferences, but holding those constant everything has changed dramatically in the last 20 years and continues to at a rapid pace.Downtown, the Pearl and NW are spendy now with a full compliment of amenities. Old Town is still gritty but height restrained by historic buildings with expensive seismic needs and a plenty of social services and night clubs. But it will go soon enough. The affluent neighborhoods have of course changed the least, they have just gotten more expensive and less diverse, with few if any funky fixers left from the 1980s when some eastside mansions were boarded up. East side areas Irvington, Alameda, Laurelhurst, Ladd's Addition, Eastmoreland, plus West Hills, a distinct place all along that is more auto-based.The cheap and cool neighborhoods of the mid 1990s have been blown out. Old pre-WWII houses with good bones bought out and restored. Massively gentrified, vacancy rates practically zero. Rents and sales prices roughly tripled in 15 years. Alberta, Hawthorne, Sunnyside, Boise/Eliot, Albina, Richmond. The places in the most flux right now are south of Powell or east of Mt Tabor. Last few pre war houses with a bunch of ranches here and there that are gaining popularity. Woodstock, Montavilla, Creston. Housing prices up roughly 20-25% this year alone. Incredible pace of neighborhood retail investment. It's getting so that Hillsdale and Multnomah Village on the west side are value-priced. They are the most pedestrian friendly of west side neighborhoods not in the downtown area, but still relatively auto dependent. The big ranches east of 205 and north of roughly Fremont would be my bet for the undiscovered next big thing. 3000 SF homes on big lots, still in the $300,000 range. Families who can't afford $450k+ will go there soon when they run out of options and want the space, and the schools and amenities will follow. The north Portland peninsula out through Concordia and Cully is smaller pre war stuff for the most part, but it's changing fast. I agree that looking to Milwaukie south of Portland is great advice. I also think it's inevitable that the smaller towns out Hwy 30 to Astoria will get taken over within the next 15 years. There will be hipster colonies in Rainier, Clatskanie, Scappoose and St Helens. Even out to Astoria. $100 million well spent to move the market and a little politics would get it going now. Sooner or later someone will do it.

What are some cool neighborhoods in Chicago?

Wrigleyville I agree is amazing! It's my fav neighborhood...I like it better than downtown actually. It's where Boystown is, which is our gay neighborhood...so, if you're homophobic, you won't like it. But if you're not homophobic, there are tons of funky little shops there, nice places to eat, and interesting people to meet. i'm only 18 so don't know much about bars. as for safety, Wrigleyville is generally very safe.

2nd choice is Wicker Park. The people there are so cool! I'm moving there in a few years for sure. It has all kinds of funky shops, and hippies, and artsy people. It's not like in the suburbs where people just wear the same thing everyday. When you go there, eat at Earwax. It's a vegetarian restaurant...I'm not vegetarian but I love it anyway! they have really unique, one-of-a-kind expensive designer stores there, but also equally unique thrift stores if you're on a budget.

Those are the two best places I'd recommend...also they're not as touristy as Downtown is, whether that matters or not to you. I didn't even discover Wicker Park until about a month ago...it's sooo cool.

What are some cool neighborhoods to visit in Pittsburgh?

There are a ton of little neighborhoods worth a visit. A few that come to mind: The strip is must see, definitely check out wholly's market and if you have time the street stands and farmers market that pops up on weekends (Saturday's I think). Away from DT from the strip is Church Brew Works which is on the border of Bloomfield (the Burgh's little italy). Further up Liberty away from downtown is Shadyside, Friendship and then East Liberty (hip/collegiate, home to the best bar ever [The Sharp Edge], and grimy but getting better, respectively). Squirrel Hill is just a few minutes from Shadyside and is a really nice residential area to walk around (with a nice thoroughfare with shops and restaurants as well). Oakland is home to Pitt and CMU so also the college bars (but as well as the amazing Carnegie Library). Finally, if you're interested in the most happening spot the south side is definitely where to plan a night out. That said, I enjoyed living in the burgh and found a lot of really cool places in tiny neighborhoods that had seen better days. If you're hungry and looking for a cheap out of the way joint, the Triangle in Greenfield is well worth the stop. Get a IC and a Battleship (and find some friends).

Where can i find cool bedroom acesssories?

There are some good answers here already (Target, Hobby Lobby, etc.), but I'd like to add one more idea to consider: yard sales.

This may depend on which part of the country you live in, and what your neighborhood is like, but our three girls (around your age) like to do this in the summertime. They'll ride their bikes around the neighborhood to see what they can find.

Often, they'll find some very cool stuff for their room. Best of all, many times, these items can be bought for under a dollar, so it works great if you're trying to save your money for something else.

Sometimes you can get something for a dollar or two that would cost you 20 or so at a department store. My daughters once found a beaded curtain in VERY good condition. They got it for just $5. Funny thing is, they had been eyeing one almost exactly like it at a local store; that one would have cost them 60 bucks!

Sure, there are quicker ways to get cool stuff for your room, but "treasure hunting" on your bicycle can be a fun weekly activity in the summertime, and you might even end up with some nice accessories -- ones that even have fun memories associated with them.

What is the coolest neighbourhood in Brisbane?

Depends on what you want. When I was younger I lived in Spring Hill. Easy walk to the CBD, lots of places to go, and an easy walk to Central Station. From there I moved to Teneriffe. That was back a few years before the hipsters arrived. Great vibe. When I was a little older, I moved to Ascot. I LOVED it. Come home on a Friday, never move my car until Monday as I had everything within a walking distance. It was great to roll out of bed and hit 63 on Racecourse road in my pjs, ignoring the disapproval of the MaseratI drivers. I loved there for about 5 years.  Now I live in a little QLDer in an established neighbourhood in Moorooka. It's becoming gentrified, so I have a wonderful little cafe around the corner where I trade my lemons for coffee, decent neighbours and a 400m2 house on an 800m2 block.  I really miss Ascot, but the trade off of an apartment for a house within 8kms of the CBD was worth it.

What are some good neighbourhoods to live in Nice, France?

Like stated in the other answer yes, the Harbour neighborhood is very nice and as they call it “Bo-bo”.But if you are looking for authenticity I would recommend the Riquier neighborhood, it has this less touristic feel to it and more popular like life. It is still home to many Nissarts who play the boules in the summer afternoons and speak with that lovely southeastern accent while sipping their pastis. Plenty of grocery shops so even if you need some veggies or some groceries on a Sunday afternoon while the rest of the city is dead, you still can get your fix there.Another nice neighborhood would be around Liberation. Going up north from the Nice Ville train station until you reach Boriglione. It is a vast area which provides calm streets as well as the commotion of a big city. On the Vernier street for example you can find some cool cultural places, on the Malaussena street there are many cool places to have a drink and enjoy the evenings, and let's not forget the morning markets where you can buy fresh and often local products. Also I have to add that you'll always have the tramway at your disposal to connect with the city center and you can even walk home if you stay out too late.I have lived in many places in Nice but those two are among my favorites. Although I have left the busy city for the tranquility of a hill nearby I often come to town just to wander around those places.Nice is a magnificent city that like France has a lot to offer to everyone. Just come down here, take some time to know it and decided for yourself.

I'm trying to find a cool inexpensive place to go in/ around phoenix -tempe Arizona area.. Help?!?

Phoenix is slightly dated yet it grew to become into named an All American city in 2009. The crime is greater bigger interior the cities nearer to the border as you have probable heard & the guy above reported we are scuffling with the immigration undertaking yet, from residing here i can declare that i've got no longer been effected too badly with this ongoing debate. an excellent element approximately Phoenix is which you will possibly be suitable interior the process the city and as you're using a mountain with trekking & trails will only pop up so no count how wanting a direction you ought to artwork that's going to likely be scenic : ) it somewhat is extraordinarily warm here we had a temperature of 116 some days in the past. I moved here from California & for the main section I like it on the grounds it somewhat is a lot lots cleanser than California & has decrease priced housing and greater jobs. it is likewise no longer a a ways force to the two California to hit the sea coast or to Vegas to hit the casinos! we do no longer somewhat have too many Tornadoes we do have monsoons which may well be risky yet regularly do no longer declare lives they're only unpredicted storms with lightening and flash flooding. no count the place you reside there is going to be crime, I even have lived here 3 years and the only element that has ever befell grew to become into my vehicle grew to become into broken into.
