How To Get Coconut Oil Off My Violin

How do you remove a coconut oil stain from a cotton shirt?

Blot the excess coconut oil out with towels. Use plain, white towels, as coconut oil can remove dyes from towels or paper towels if the dyes are of a poor quality and not set into the fabric of paper correctly. Apply baking soda, arrowroot powder, or corn startch to the stain. Sprinkle it generously over the stain. No – sprinkle more. More I said! Let the baking soda/arrowroot powder/cornstarch sit on the stain for a good 10 minutes. It should turn light brown as it soaks up the oil. If you are dealing with a really deep spill or bad stain you may need to add more baking soda/arrowroot powder/cornstarch. If the stain/oil spot turns brown within a couple of minutes, add more baking soda/arrowroot powder/cornstarch. Repeat until it takes almost 10 minutes to turn brown. Scrape the baking soda/arrowroot powder/cornstarch off with something like a credit card or a thin but sturdy piece of cardboard. Wash the clothing in the clothes washer on the hottest possible setting.

Can we use coconut oil for oil paintings in the canvas?

Yes you can. But Not, you should not. You can if you do not care about your painting staying wet like forever. Coconut oil is a non drying oil, so your painting may never polymerize or harden. You can if your intent is for your paint to stay soft and creamy and oily and for people to stain their fingers and clothes, and for the paint to trap any particle of dust and bugs. No, you should not if you care about the life expectancy of your artwork. If you want to be able to transport your panting without damaging it. If you want to produce a long lasting piece of fine art you should not.Now coconut oil is used in art for some oil pastels for two main reasons. It is a non drying oil and oil pastels need to stay wet for ever.It is a non acidic oil that will not attack the vegetable fiber of the papers were oil pastels are applied to.Non drying oils are used in some other kind of oil paintings that are intended to stay wet for a very long period of time if not forever. And that is the case of oil painting animation in which an artist repaints and pushes oil paint around on a piece of non absorbent support like glass and takes picture of every modification to the painting to create an oil painting animation like in here: Van Gogh Documentary To Be First Completely Painted Feature Film Ever and here:

I can't tune my violin! The knobs are completely stuck. What do I do, and why did this happen?

Unsticking pegs can be difficult without damage to the peg (not a big deal) or the pegbox (a BIG deal).Sometimes the firm but gentle grasp and pull will work; once you get past the initial “bite” the peg frees up for extraction right away due to the taper. But sometimes people use peg dope or other substances (like rosin) to encourage grip on sloppy-fitting pegs, and this can actually glue the peg in place under certain conditions of pressure, humidity, and temperature. Then physical removal becomes very difficult or impossible without physically destroying the peg. Again, sacrificing a peg is not as big a deal as having to replace a neck; they only cost a couple dollars at worst, but must be properly fitted.Another problem sometimes encountered on less expensive violins is the use of non-ebony pegs dyed black in combination with a softer (cheaper) grade of maple in the peg box. String tension over time can compress the wood into a non-round somewhat oval contour of the pegs and holes. When this happens, attempting to tune or turn the pegs just makes things worse as both high points of the oval bind tighter. Instruments with this problem can sometimes be salvaged for short term use by tapping the pegs out gently from the non-head side of the peg on the peg shaft with the appropriate diameter dowel rod. Once they are out, the peg holes must be gently reamed out to a true round taper, and preferably new pegs of a better grade material (EBONY) fitted to the instrument. However, if the maple in the pegbox is softer than it should be, it’s only a question of time before the problem will come back. Yon can only ream out the pegholes so many times before there’s not enough wood left to hold together without splitting from peg pressure. Then repairs will likely exceed the value of the “bargain” instrument.Like so many things in life, you get what you pay for,

How to get coconut oil off my violin?

Soooo, I was teaching violin lessons this week and one of my students had coconut oil on their hands because apparently they use it for hand cream -___- So my $1500 violin has a whole bunch of oily smudges all over it and I've tried everything I can think of to wipe them off, my silk cloth that takes everything off usually, a little saliva and a cotton cloth, and a few other approaches. What can I do to clean it without wrecking the varnish or anything? Any tips would be helpful thank you very much!

What can you use instead of rosin for a violin bow? What makes the best substitution?

If the problem is allergy related try Clarity, from the Supersensitive Musical String Company.

What's the best thing to get rid of my husband's dandruff?

Rinsing your scalp with a rinse of 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar to 3/4 cup water may help the problem. The natural acids will help loosen any sebum (dead skin and oils) that clings to your scalp and flakes to form dandruff. Rinse thoroughly with WARM, not hot, water. If you don't rinse well, you will smell like vinegar.

To treat a bad case of dandruff, wash your hair with your usual shampoo and then rinse with an alcohol-based mouthwash. You can follow with an ordinary conditioner.

Tea tree oil has antiseptic qualities that may help kill the fungus, and keep your scalp moisturized. You can buy a small bottle at many groceries and health food stores, and add 5-6 drops to your regular shampoo. Or just purchase a shampoo that contains tea tree oil.

Plain old fashioned Listerine (the original amber formula) works wonders on dandruff! In fact, up until the 1980s, the label even mentioned that it was effective on infectious dandruff. Daily or several times a week, saturate a cotton ball with Listerine and swab over your scalp. It really works!

What annoys a Malayali?

Malayalis are easy going people by General rule but they can also be annoyed by ignorant heads:This has been mentioned many times but Indian soft porn is not copyrighted by Malayalam movie industry ( I have seen even people from our neighboring states saying so).Every Malayali is not moving to Gulf, there are lot of them who work and live in Kerala and elsewhere (we are there everywhere in this world) and every malayali working in Gulf is not rich.We do have mother tongue influence while talking in any other language than our own but that is applicable to every one else not just malayalees. We are not Madrasi. Major part of Kerala was never under Madras Presidency even and hence by no means do we entertain being called a Madrasi. We do use lot of coconut in the form of oil or shredded coconut but we have lot of dishes without it. ( coconut oil cannot be easily avoided from Kerala cuisine but we don't use that while cooking North Indian cuisine). Many girls in Kerala you will see they have body hair pretty much like any other girl/woman of her age anywhere. Some of us don't prefer to wax. Any problem???Most of us have black curly hair and we take pride in it. Straight slender hair is not the norm here.We have a love hate relationship with beef and parotta. So please no shocking glances in disbelief ( that doesn't mean that every malayali is a beef fanatic it's just that we don't hate people who love beef).Malayali men grow moustaches and we have no problem with that and infact we love that (Even malayali girls like that); Does anyone have a problem with that??We like shahrukh, salman, surya, vijay and everyone else but no one can take the place of lalettan and mammookka and for the people who say Malayalam movies are boring ( that really gets us annoyed), you need to have a sense, sensibility and sensitivity to understand Malayalam movies. We eat with our hands and we like licking our hands clean. How does that hurt you??Even after all this you will still have a malayali friend who likes to laugh and joke with you no matter what..
